Chapter 434 Souls
Vangel, possessing knowledge in the art of alchemy or having access to ancient texts, could have attempted to recreate Tenebres' blood using other ingredients and alchemical processes. By carefully studying the properties and composition of the purified blood, he might have devised a way to replicate it to some extent.
Before he could confirm one of those, Aion was forced to return… more rifts were appearing outside, and he could tell that Mareia was just trying to make him waste time with that.
In any case, Aion always tried to avoid making his weapons absorb the bodies of humans since he didn't want to process them. Even with his enemies, he would feel grossed out. Still, to think that such a thing was possible… to unlock classes by making his weapon absorb them without processing it.
"Wait… I thought that Vangel's blood was what made me feel bad, but after doing the same with the bodies, nothing changed…." Aion furrowed his eyebrows.
More questions were emerging, but Aion didn't have time to solve them. He quickly returned to the real world and then noticed that the atmosphere was weird… the new enemies from the rift were charging at him, but Mareia wasn't buffing them with her voice.
"Running away, huh…" Aion furrowed his eyebrows while emitting a cold wind around him that froze the enemies that tried to attack him.
Aion couldn't sense her presence, and since he didn't have time to look for her in all directions, he decided to do something else.
Aion closed his eyes, focusing his mind and senses. He became aware of the presence of countless souls surrounding him, like a tapestry of energy woven into the world. With determination, he reached out, gently drawing the souls closer to him.
The souls responded to his call one by one, gravitating towards his presence. Their energy merged with his own as they approached, infusing him with their essence. Aion felt their experiences, emotions, and memories blending with his own, empowering him with their combined strength.
Aion had an easy time convincing his allies that had died to lend him their strength and those that regretted what they turned into. Still, the others, blind by power and revengeful for their deaths, didn't make it easy for him.
"They aren't Milerians, but the current me should be able to do this after obtaining the Spiritualist class," Aion thought.
Aion closed his eyes, focusing his senses on the souls surrounding him. He could feel their presence, their energy, resonating in the air. As he concentrated, a surge of power coursed through his body, infused with the essence of those departed souls.
Opening his eyes, Aion extended his hands towards the vast expanse of the ocean. The air turned frigid, and his breath formed icy vapors in the chilled atmosphere. With a commanding gesture, he unleashed his newfound power.
The water beneath him began to transform, freezing rapidly as if time itself had halted. The once tumultuous waves solidified into a vast, shimmering sheet of ice. The frozen ocean extended far and wide. Thanks to it, he soon found Mareia's presence, and then he used Time Shifting to bring the part that she was to his location.
Aion did just in time for a massive block that contained her to explode, thanks to the power of her voice. Mareia opened her eyes widely when she noticed that she was back where the fight started, and without her minions… she had escaped with an army of krakens under her control, and now they were too far away.
"Can I have this dance?" Aion asked.
Mareia's voice erupted from her lips with a resounding shout, carrying a wave of sound that reverberated through the air. The force of her vocal power surged toward Aion, impacting him like a physical blow.
As the shockwaves of sound crashed into him, Aion felt his entire being tremble in response. The vibrations rippled through his body, disrupting his balance and rattling his senses. The sheer intensity of Mareia's sound attack tested his resilience, threatening to overwhelm his defenses.
The sound waves resonated within Aion, causing a cacophony of chaotic echoes in his ears. It felt as if the very core of his being was being shaken, challenging his focus and determination. Yet, through the tremors that coursed through him, Aion remained steadfast, his resolve unyielding.
His muscles strained against the force of the sound, his body resisting the impact with unwavering determination. Though the vibrations threatened to disorient him, Aion steeled himself, summoning his inner strength to endure the onslaught.
Aion pointed his hand toward her and then used his ice magic to freeze the shockwaves that she was sending. The weakness of her voice was the fact that she had to stop moving to make it work like that.
Mareia clicked her tongue and then opened many more rifts across time and space and summoned more mutated soldiers. Still, Aion had a crazy reserve of mana now, so he easily froze the new enemies and killed them.
"Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhh!"
"Why? Why? It wasn't supposed to be like this!"
"We were on the wrong side… I didn't want to become a monster,"
Although Aion gained a lot of mana, things were quite noisy right now. He wanted to transfer those souls to another inventory, but he couldn't do that and kept getting mana. So, he had to endure it.
Mareia clicked her tongue in annoyance, but she still had some fighting on her. She increased her voice and made the ice that Aion created shatter, and then she focused her senses on a single area to create a spatial rift.
"She is focusing too much on that one… is she calling for Vangel?" Aion thought.
The enemy created a dark and unsettling rift that seemed like a swirling black hole. It gave off a creepy and ominous vibe as if it could swallow everything in its path. The edges of the rift appeared as a deep void, consuming any light that came near.
