Chapter 142: 142:Get Rid Of Him
As Vishal walked out, his expression took an abrupt change. The smile on his face disappeared, replaced with a chilling expression on his face.
"Sir, what happened?" one of the bodyguards asked.
Vishal took a look at him and after a moment of thought, muttered.
"Something feels wrong. I can't put my finger on it, but that guy seemed… troublesome."
"Huh! Why did you think that?"
Vishal, too, couldn't pinpoint what exactly was wrong, but he began replaying their conversation in his mind.
First of all, the man didn't shrink away or avert his gaze upon seeing him. The man also had a certain charm and aura around him that would only be found with people holding high positions, which was strange considering that it shouldn't be possible since he was mostly cooped up in his room.
Secondly, Vishal found it hard to believe that a person could change so drastically in just a year. It was possible in terms of physical and behavioral aspects, but a man who once found it difficult to compile simple codes could now create something so profound that it even sent professionals with decades of experience into a panic.
And that had all been done by him alone when even an entire team might fall short to achieve the same.
Being a fairly high-level programmer himself, Vishal knew that creating such things wasn't easy and it couldn't be simply made out of mere inspiration. So how did he do it?
How had a seemingly ordinary man, who was struggling to meet his needs, suddenly transformed into such an extraordinary individual?
At first glance, Evan seemed dull and bland, but in truth, the blade was hidden behind the sheath, and that held extraordinary sharpness and was ready to strike.
"I heard he has close ties with Suri," Vishal asked, turning to his subordinate.
"According to the investigation, it seems so. Also, when he had that accident at USL, Suri was there and helped him."
A deep frown etched on Vishal's face and a sudden thought struck him.
"Then, is it possible the one behind all this is Suri? After all, her family isn't ordinary at all. I believe she has the influence and resources to make this happen and Evan might just be her puppet," the guard spoke, sharing the same thoughts as Vishal.
Hearing this, Vishal didn't speak anymore, but his silence suggested that he might be agreeing with this.
"We should investigate more."
"But didn't we sign the deal that the government wouldn't interfere?" the bodyguard asked in shock.
"Since when do we keep out bargains? It's all for the benefit of people. Who knows if he's a threat? According to the treaty, government agents won't keep track of him, but it's not like we only have official people," Visual replied with a crooked smile, pulling out a pen drive.
The reason he was sent here was because before it reached the government, there were some other people who desperately needed this.
"If this is really as powerful as everyone claims, then we can finally get rid of those annoying flies from the west and those eastern ones always snooping on us," saying that, he handed the drive to a person who immediately plugged in his laptop.
_____
The deal was beneficial to both sides, but a certain someone became restless.
"Damn! Those bastards…"
The man screamed in anger. It was he who had ordered that there shouldn't be any subsequent advantages given to Evan, but those bastards bypassed his command and ordered him to change it and accepted all of Evan's demands.
Thinking about this made him furious, however, then he received a call informing him that they had obtained the item.
His grievous face instantly turned to joy, his hands trembling slightly as he dialed the number once again, his resolve steeled by the urgency of the situation.
The phone rang twice before the same chilling voice from before answered.
"I have an update," Amit began, his voice steady despite the fear gnawing at him. "We've acquired the software, so we have everything we need, but Evan still needs to be dealt with."
The voice on the other end was cold, almost indifferent. "You've already failed once. Why should I trust you with this task? And how many times do I tell you not to tell me what you want to do?"
Amit swallowed hard. "Because if Evan isn't removed, he could still pose a threat. His technological skills and persistence make him dangerous. We can't afford to let him become an obstacle."
"Moreover, don't forget that if he is recognized, it's not just you who is going to be in trouble but also me. Everything you have built so far might crumble if they manage to connect the dots back to you. Do you really want to see that coming?"
Silence lingered on the other side, prompting Amit to press on, "He is growing rapidly and gaining influence. How long can you keep suppressing this? I have seen his look and he looked exactly like that person, so if one day they managed to meet him at some reception or a banquet, it wouldn't be surprising if they manage to recognize him."
A moment of tense pause followed before the voice responded, its tone icier than before. "And what makes you think this is the right course of action? I don't want unnecessary complications."
Amit leaned closer to the phone, his voice urgent. "Think about it. If Evan is allowed to live, I will also be dragged down with you."
There was another noticeable pause, the weight of Amit's words sinking in. The silence was thick with tension before the voice responded, a trace of hesitation evident. "You think you're in a position to make demands?"
Amit's voice grew more insistent. "I'm not making demands. I'm stating facts. Evan's potential for disruption is too great. If he's identified as their heir, it could undo everything. You know how dangerous that could be."
The voice on the other end grew colder, the menace within it palpable. "Fine. I'll give you one chance to rectify this. But if anything goes wrong, there will be severe repercussions. Ensure that Evan is dealt with quickly and discreetly. I won't tolerate any more failures."
Amit exhaled, relief mingled with apprehension. "Understood. I'll handle it. I'll make sure it's done efficiently."
The voice on the other end was unyielding. "See as you fit. I don't want to repeat this conversation. And remember, if this fails, you will bear the consequences. I never had a say in anything."
As the call ended, Amit's eyes darted around the room.
Placing the phone back on the table, Amit rubbed his chin.
"I can't use a government agent for this…Hm! Let's hire some mercenary for this job…"
_____
While Amit was crafting his plans, little was he aware that far away, a certain individual was tracking all his calls.
"Heheheheh, son of bitch so you are finally showing your true colours."
"It seems, now is the time to flex.."
