The Tycoon's Odyssey

Chapter 40: 40:Sell Me The Cafe

The next day, Evan got a call from Knox University. It was a call directly from the HOD who said he wanted to meet urgently.

"Evan, come to my office at 10...Don't be late. We are going to talk about something important."

From his tone, Evan could guess that something bad had happened.

Evan hurriedly took a taxi to Knox University. He wore clean clothes.

A blue shirt with black formal pants.

Appearing before the HOD cabin, even before he could knock, he heard a voice from inside.

"Come in quickly,"

The moment he stepped, a frown etched over his face.

The HOD Micheal was standing with a back bow and in his chair sat an aged man with a piercing gaze.

Name:Darpan Biswas

Skill:????

Before Evan could ask, a chime echoed in his ears.

[Host, it's because the person's luck is high along with charisma. For now, you can't gauge the skills of the person who has charisma many times over you along with great luck.]

Evan suppressed his curiosity, walked forward, and gave a gentle bow to the man after all who was sitting before him now was none other than the Director of Knoxx University.

In terms of authority, it was a bit lower than the Principal but from what he knew this man wasn't a simple guy.

He had many business companies and Knoxx University was also founded by him.

What was the most appalling fact about this university is that you won't be failing here. If you fail you can pass by giving a fine of 10000 rupees for each paper per semester.

Darpan took out a few sheets of paper and spoke while analyzing.

"Evan, in all semester you barely passed and have slowly improved. Still I can't see you as a bright student despite that you seem to have achieved quite a success."

Suppressing his curiosity, Evan waited for Darpan to speak. The Director's piercing gaze bore into him as he began, "Evan, I've heard about your tea box cafe business. It's quite impressive for someone of your age."

Warning bells started ringing in Evan's mind bidding about a bad premonition.

Evan nodded, feeling a crisis.

And his sixth sense proved to be true as Darpan's next words hung in the air, laden with significance.

"I've been considering investing in businesses with potential, and yours seems promising. How about you sell me your cafe business?"

Evan's heart sank at the proposition. The tea box cafe was his cash flow project, and he couldn't fathom parting with it. "I appreciate the offer, Mr. Biswas, but the cafe is more than just a business to me. I'm not interested in selling."

Darpan's expression hardened, and a flicker of annoyance crossed his features. "I see," he replied in an icy tone. "Well, if you're not willing to sell, how about this? I'll buy shares in your business and become an investor. That way, we both benefit. I want 80% shares of your company.

I am willing to offer you a blank cheque."

Evan hesitated, but ultimately, he shook his head. "I'm sorry, Mr. Biswas, but I prefer to maintain full ownership of my business. From your proposition, I can already feel the value of my ventures and for now, I don't want to grow it independently."

"What? Evan, how dare you dare you to reject Sir Darpan's kindness."Micheal, who had been standing beside Darpan, started screaming.

"If you know what's good for you, just accept the deal. This is the reason why you are poor. You can't think ahead, can you?"

Micheal started hurling curses at Evan.

Evan's expression became fierce but he controlled himself.

"Sir, your offer is very good but I can't bear your kindness at this stage."

Darpan's demeanor shifted, his patience wearing thin. "Very well, Evan," he said, his voice cold and calculating. "But let me remind you that Knox University has its own set of rules. And if you refuse to cooperate, I can make things difficult for you."

Evan's heart clenched at the veiled threat, but he refused to back down however he felt that he should drag this down a bit and think of a countermeasure later. He wasn't bright not strong enough to collide head-on.

"I understand, Mr. Biswas so can you give me some time? You know that I am troubled by the case hanging over me."

He knew that in some things he needed to compromise but his heart wasn't bearing to.

It wasn't a matter of just money. He knew that what this guy truly wanted was the secret of their tea which was something that couldn't be revealed.

Darpan's gaze hardened and his eyes narrowed with displeasure. "Very well, Evan," he said, his voice dripping with menace. "But remember, you may not have a choice in the matter. If you refuse to comply, I can assure you that you won't be passing your final exams."

"You can't do that, can you? It's illegal."Evan asked with a frown.

Hearing this, Darpan chuckled.

"Do you know whom this place belongs to? Moreover, I am not failing you blindly, I have justification to stop you from graduating."

"What justification?"He asked, lifting up his voice.

"On the ground of your senseless behavior. I can mark your character certificate as negative. Secondly, with matters of Mrs Suri Barret, your life will take a heel turn. You don't have any good relationships with any students in the university, and the media would soon start sneaking you out."

Darpan smirked looking at Evan's helpless expression.

All in all, he had the power to do what he wanted but Evan didn't have the power to resist.

He heard about the cafe from his son who went there to have a break but was astonished by the Tea and Coffee sold there.

He knew that this boy had gotten hold of something amazing or created a secret recipe. As a seasoned businessman, he knew that with the secret recipe, a person could build an Empire chain.

Evan took a deep breath and spoke.

"I…I need time to weigh pros and cons."

"Huh!"Both Michael and Darpan were startled for a moment. The boy was still adamant.

"Then, I will see you later."

Micheal called Evan from behind but he turned a deaf ear ignoring the two.

"Sir, what will you do now? That brat is really a brute head and indecisive" Micheal muttered in a displeased tone.

Darpan stared at the door with a dead eye expression.

"This young man has a bit of a hard head but..."

"Such a man who doesn't know what to buy won't last long."

Even, he had to bow many times and kneel before someone to become what he is today. He was willing to take over the business even if that guy asked for 100 million rupees which was enough to last throughout the life for the middle class.

What can a poor middle-class man ask more for?

Alas, this guy didn't know what he lost today.

....

Note:

100 million rupees =10 crore…..
