Chapter 73 - Life Story
Rebecca studied her face. "If bringing you to Luke's grave can help you rest your mind, then I'll take you to his grave," she said casually. "But...you must not mention Luke's name ever again after you see his grave, okay?"
Laura nodded her head. "Yes, I will no longer mention him!" she made an oath in front of Rebecca.
"Good! You go back to your room and wait there. After I'm done here, I'll come to your room so that we can go to his grave," said Rebecca.
"Wait...Is Luke's grave just around here?" Laura asked.
Rebecca nodded her head. "Yes," she replied.
"Okay," Laura rose to her feet and left the dining room. While she was walking towards the staircase, she wondered why Rebecca helped her a lot, but Graven was acting the complete opposite?
This couple is giving her a headache!
She reached the base of the stairs and began her ascend. She reached the top of the stairs and walked in the hallway, going to her room.
Once she reached her room, she went to the window and opened it. She looked at the woods in the distance.
A nice breeze blows her hair away from her face. The weather is nice this morning. The sun has not appeared on the horizon yet. Good weather is a nice companion for strolling outside the house.

Meanwhile... back in the dining room.
Rebecca was taking her time drinking her hot milk.
Graven entered the dining room and sat on the chair, facing her. "What did Laura ask you this time?" he asked.
She looked at him. "She's demanding to be taken to Luke's grave, with a promise that she will no longer mention your brother's name after she will see the tomb with her eyes," she replied. "Your sister-in-law is a demanding woman!" she added with a smile.
Graven was silent for a moment. "And what did you replied to her?"
"I told her that I will bring her to Luke's grave after I'm done sipping my hot milk," she answered.
"What-?" his eyes bulged. "Are you going to bring her to that place?" he asked in disbelief.
Rebecca smiled. "Easy...we both know that it's not easy to enter that place again. We don't want to put Laura's life in danger. I'm bringing her to a place much safer... If this can stop her from pestering us about Luke then it's worth a try," she said.
Graven was relieved with her explanation. "So, you're going to bring her to the old family cemetery in the woods?" he asked for confirmation.
Rebecca nodded her head. "Yeah. Would you like to come with us?" she said.
Graven shook his head. "No. I got some things to prepare for our trip. You take care of her," he replied and left the dining room.
Rebecca finished the remaining sweet pastry on the plate and drank her milk.

A few minutes later.
Rebecca knocked at Laura's bedroom door, holding a brown shawl in her right hand. "Laura...it's me!" she said.
Laura gets up from the bed and went to the door, she was excited while opening the door. Rebecca was standing outside. "Are we going now?" she asked.
"Yes," Rebecca replied. "Put this shawl around your shoulder first, because we're going to the woods, Graven's family had an old cemetery there," she said. She handed the shawl to her.
Laura accepted the shawl and put it around her shoulder. "Thank you," she said and closed the door behind her.
They walked in the hallway and down the stairs. They reached the entrance of the house and stepped outside.
Rebecca looked at her. "Do you want to ride the carriage or do you want to walk on foot to reach our destination?" she asked her.
Laura pondered her questions for a moment. She looked heavenward. The sun is not shining yet. "Let's just stroll towards the woods," she suggested.
"Alright, you're the boss!" Rebecca said.
They trudged side by side on the path leading straight to the woods which was located one hundred meters from the house.
Laura glanced at Rebecca. "Mind if I ask you some personal question?" she asked.
Rebecca glanced at her. "Shoot!"
"How long have you been in a relationship with Graven?" Laura asked.
Rebecca grinned. "Five years?"
"Okay, that was long already," Laura commented. "You don't have any plans to get married soon?"
Rebecca sighed. "Marriage is for humans, and I'm not human. I don't care much about marriage and those kinds of things..." she answered.
"Oh," Laura said. She was thinking of other topics to ask her. "Where's your family? Graven told me that you are a demon princess, is that true?"
Rebecca looked at her and smiled brightly. "Do you want me to demonstrate my power to you again so that you will finally believe my true identity?"
"No need," Laura shook her head after remembering how fiercely Rebecca held the severed bloody head of the leader of those barbarians inside the cave, she no longer wished to see another terrifying scene again. She had enough already. She wants to stick with a safer topic this time. "Are you an orphan? Where is your family?" she asked again.
"Sorry, Laura. I'm not comfortable talking about my family, they already perished except me. I'm the only survivor of our clan. Every time somebody asked me about my family I feel extreme pain hammering in my heart," Rebecca said. Profound pain flashes in her eyes.
Laura sighed. "I'm so sorry for your loss," she said in sympathy. "I apologized for asking such a delicate question," she apologized.
"Apology accepted," Rebecca said. She was able to muster a sunny smile on her lips despite the gloom that she felt in her heart.
"So...how did you and Graven met?" Laura asked curiously. She wants to know their love story.
Rebecca sighed. "It was a long time ago," she said breathing deeply. She looked at the woods ahead. "The future is full of uncertainty for people with power like us. The tide is changing. Many superior clans fight for survival, for greater power and territory...wars and conflict ensued between clans, and the weak were easily overpowered and defeated. The strong survive," she said, pausing for a minute. A troubled sigh escaped her lips. "One night, my entire clan was annihilated mercilessly by the enemies and I was supposed to be the last one to die, but Graven and his caravan managed to come across the destruction and save me on time. I owe Graven my life. He takes pity on my sad flight, that's why he brought me to his house and provided me everything. And that's how everything started between him and me..." she explained.
"I'm sorry..." Laura sighed, she felt saddened by Rebecca's sad flight. She stopped asking the woman another personal question fearing that she will awaken sad memories in her past. "Thank you for sharing your life story with me, Rebecca," she said.
A few minutes later. They're finally entering the woods.
Laura's heart began beating faster in her rib cage.
Rebecca was leading the way to the old cemetery.
