Chapter 238 – If they weren’t a couple, why were they holding hands? (1)

By the time Meng Yan and Zhang Xiying were seated, the table was almost filled entirely.

Everybody was very interested in this couple who had been well-talked about this year. Starting from the first half of the year when they were rumored to have a relationship with each other to their abrupt marriage in May, they had made the most trending list multiple times and became the top news in the entertainment industry.

Except that…

The direction began to turn weird!

Meng Yan’s ex-wife, whom he had smeared, made a sudden comeback this year.

Her comeback had put Zhang Xiying, whom everybody had put their money on, in a very bad position once she compared with his ex-wife.

Take today as an example. The two of them were sitting at this table today and Lin Yiyi, on the other hand, sat over at the investor and producer table that was far from them.

The difference between them was stark!

Meng Yan, too, had noticed Lin Yiyi when she arrived.

She was… very beautiful tonight.

In the past, he had always been the center of her attention.

And now, she was the center of attention of others.

Meng Yan couldn’t describe how he felt right now.

Everybody’s attention was on the divorced couple. It was odd for Meng Yan as well.

They were in the same circle yet, somehow, it was like there was a ridgeline between the two of them. The separation between the two of them was obvious.

Nevertheless, they were not able to avoid each other.

Meng Yan took a sip of red wine.

Zhang Xiying was sitting right next to him.

Meng Yan wasn’t the only one who noticed Lin Yiyi; Zhang Xiying did as well. And she also noticed the one sitting next to her.

“Is that Boss Lu?”

They were far and with a few tables and individuals between them. Plus, Zhang Xiying had never met the CEO of Shengshi personally in the past so she wasn’t entirely certain.

Meng Yan, however, had met him before.

At the Lin’s mansion no less!

He and Lin Yiyi had been long divorced by then and he was very happy that Lin Yiyi had stopped trying to approach him. At least, during that brief period of time, he genuinely felt relieved.

Their relationship had always been mild in their ten plus years of marriage. His focus had always been on his work, and he would never be able to have a normal marriage with his spouse.

He had not expected that he would run into Zhang Xiying.

They shared similar values and same lifestyles, so he felt that they were very suitable for each other.

At least, more suitable than him with Lin Yiyi.

That being said, when he saw Lu Xun showing up at the Lin’s mansion, his feelings at the time were very indescribable.

Perhaps, possessiveness was a part of human nature.

When another man showed up next to Lin Yiyi and his two children, he couldn’t help but had a feeling that he was about to be replaced.

Meng Yan took another sip of wine and suppressed the little bit of unpleasantness inside of him. “Mmm,” he responded but had no intention to carry on with the conversation.

As though she hadn’t noticed that at all, Zhang Xiying looked in that direction and carried on, “Boss Lu and Lin Yiyi seem to be quite close. Look at how they have been chatting with each other… aye, guess what? When I was trying on my gown the other day, I seemed to have overheard Yao Yimeng mentioning that her family wanted to set her up with Boss Lu.”

Meng Yan put down his wine glass and turned to look at her.

Nobody knew better than him how close Lin Yiyi and Lu Xun were.

Lu Xun even came in person to pick up Little Yuran and Shanshan on National Holiday. And just why would he do that if the two of them have no relation with each other?

Besides, Lin Yiyi had confirmed that in person as well.

Meng Yan, once again, looked in the same direction as Zhang Xiying and at Lin Yiyi.
