Chapter 159
159 Recognize
“Little Kitty?” Kyle was very sensitive to the little cat’s... no, it’s little kid with cat ear’s emotion. When they bypassed the children, he felt that the young girl in his arm had her emotion shook.
Women were usually more sensitive and it was even more true for Kate.
She raised her head while wiping her eyes. “It’s nothing. There is just more dust here.”
There were indeed a lot of dusts because the place was technically ruins. However, Kyle felt that there was something different with Kate. He said nothing when he heard her not wanting to tell the truth.
“Alright, there are still a lot of giant mutated animals here.”
They stopped at the area where the soldiers were busy fighting with some giant mutated animals while the other awakened were struggling to fix the wall to prevent these giant mutated animals from approaching.
“Little Kitty.”
“I know.”
The white dots were pouring towards Kate with her thought and Kyle was also burning these giant mutated animals with one move. He had already exposed his rank 5 ability, so Kyle had no scruples in dealing with these giant mutated animals in front of others.
.....
The road was filled with fire for a period of time.
Countless giant mutated animals were burned to death.
“Hasten the repair progress. These giant mutated animals will return.” Kyle glanced at the soldiers.
“Yes, yes!”
They all could basically recognize Kyle by now. After all, there were no other fire element awakened who had reached rank 5 and could be as domineering as Kyle. The other fire element in their group were only rank 4 and the destructive power was not as good as Kyle.
Kate looked at the soldiers and looked at the row of giant mutated animals outside. Her range was wider than Kyle, so she simply pulled those white dots and absorbed them greedily. Her body was like sponge, kept on absorbing these white dots from countless giant mutated animals.
Since reaching rank 6, Kate realized that her range and her ability to absorb these white dots had increased. Even though she hadn’t made any improvement, even if it was only a minor one, she still grew stronger steadily.
One step at a time.
With Kyle and Kate’s appearance, their progress felt like they were riding a rocket. Within a few hours, the entire wall was already fixed and these people were now busy cleaning up the ruins. There were not that many people but since many of them were also awakened, the progress was pretty fast.
Kyle and Kate headed to the top of the wall and Kate struggled to climb down.
“Don’t run around.” Kyle helplessly put Kate down.
Kate ignored Kyle and ran to the edge of the wall, looking at the scenery in front of her. Her large blue eyes were filled with astonishment.
Actually, she had been prepared to see the great devastation due to these giant mutated animals rampaging around. But she saw that the nature was stronger than her expectation and the forests and others were still living.
The cities that was located a bit far away was still there and there was no sign of destruction.
It was amazing.
“Kyle! Kyle! Don’t you see that it’s still very beautiful?” Kate asked, her face flushed with excitement.
Kyle looked at the scenery in front of Kate and nodded lightly. He could see that she was very happy when she saw the green and lush scenery in front of him. Truthfully, he didn’t care about whether the forest was still alive or other things, but seeing her happy, he felt that he was also happy.
He walked closer and patted Kate’s head. The world is still alive and thriving. Even with so many giant mutated animals were threatening to kill them, the ecosystem was not completely destroyed.
Some things were disturbed, but they would not disappear just like that.
They were still alive.
And when things returned back to the order, things would be better again.
“Do you like the forest?”
“Yeah! The air is really fresh there. My da...” Kate was about to say her father, but then she abruptly stopped. Her current identity is Kyle’s cat and her so called father should be him. Thus, she couldn’t say anything.
Kyle looked at Kate who seemed to be conflicted and lowered his eyes slightly.
He knew.
But he didn’t want to say it either. For some reason, he hoped that Little Kitty... no, Kate, will continue to think that he didn’t know. That way, she would always try to avoid mentioning this matter and stay by his side.
He’s selfish.
Even though he knew that Kate had her own family and also friends who were waiting for her, he wanted to monopolize her. He hoped that she would always stay by his side, let him pamper her so that she will never be able to leave.
He’s not a good person.
Kyle had realized it a long time ago. But when he found the little cat he kept had changed and slowly entered his heart, he couldn’t bear to let her go. Not in the slightest bit.
“If you want to go, I’ll take you down there someday,” Kyle said in a soft and coaxing tone.
Kate raised her head, her attention was successfully attracted. She smiled brightly. “Okay!”
The two of them stayed there and cleaned the rest of the giant mutated animals that were approaching until the sun went down. After that, Kyle carried Kate back down towards the research institute and met with the others.
“Oh! Little Kitty is now in her human’s form!” Lotte was so excited that she jumped towards Kate and Kyle.
“Hey, hey, stop that!” Jake quickly stopped Lotte when he saw that Kyle’s hand was burning with fire. He was sure that Kyle will definitely attack Lotte should she dare to get close to Kyle at this moment.
“Tsk~! Stingy!” Lotte complained.
Dylan pushed Jake forward. “Make child.”
Lotte looked at Dylan speechless. Now even Dylan was pushing Jake to make a child with her. And looking at her boyfriend meaningful gaze, she quickly slapped him with the wind element.
Jake only laughed when he saw Lotte’s increasing red face.
Marc was sitting at the side with incredulous expression. His mouth was hanging open as if he couldn’t believe what the others were saying. “This...”
Kate looked at Marc. The words that came out of her mouth sounded like a whisper or something like that, but Marc and Robby could understand that she was telling the truth.
Only halves or pet or the owner with blood contract would be able to understand this language.
“Wang! Wang! Wang! Wang!”
Marc glared at his dog before turning to look at Kate.
Kate could remember that when Kyle thought that he would lose her, he had given her two transparent gems. One of them had a layer of black, so Kate guessed that it was not space gems.
That might be what had accelerated her progress to turn into a human being.
Marc was speechless.
Jake looked at these two with dark face. “Can you please remember that the others couldn’t understand what you’re talking about if you were to speak with those kind of strange language?”
Even Kyle was looking at Kate because he clearly couldn’t understand what this little girl was saying. He really wanted to be able to learn her language, but he would be unwilling to form a contract with anyone other than her.
But knowing that she’s a human being, Kyle didn’t think that the contract would be possible.
He didn’t know.
Kate looked at behind and saw her father walking out of the research institute. Her eyes lit up and she ran towards her father with her small steps.
“Where is she going?” Jake was surprised.
Kyle looked the direction where Kate was running to and his eyes flashed strangely. He glanced at the others. “Once the dinner is over, prepare the tent. We’re resting here and tomorrow will rebuild it.”
“You mean, we will rebuild while you’re supervising.” Jake rolled his eyes.
Seeing the gaze Kyle gave to him, Jake quickly ran away. He had no intention of provoking Kyle for real.
The others laughed.
At this moment, Kate saw her father and stopped two meters away from her. Her space ability confined the area as she tried her best to find her voice. She wanted to call him so badly.
Being an awakened, Kate’s father was a bit surprised by the change. He turned around and saw the little girl staring at him. That beautiful blue eyes and familiar gaze shook him once more.
Neither spoke.
