Chapter 40 La Patisserie
"Yawn~" a cute yawn drew Chris's attention who was seemingly searching for something on his phone.
He turned his face to see a beautiful female yawning sitting on an office chair. Her face was sharp and attractive as if sculpted personally by a god himself.
Her bombastic figure that can give an erection to even an eunuch. While her bright emerald eyes were... glaring at Chris.
Chris smiled at Aria and ignored her nasty glare.
"What are you smiling at, bastard?" she squinted and asked, anger apparent in her sweet voice.
"You look so beautiful right now, how can I not smile after seeing you?" Chris smiled widely and threw one of the cheesiest lines he had learned from Max.
"Oh? How can you still smile after that 'stunt' you pulled?" Aria bared her teeth and asked.
"What stunt? I was just fulfilling your wishes as your dear boyfriend," Chris tilted his head and asked confused.
'This son of a-' Aria stopped herself from running over and banging that small cocky smile from Chris's face.
"Sigh, I am in no mood to bicker with you," Aria sighed and got up to fix the dress that Chris had clumsily draped over her body while she was asleep.
"So, you are not mad, right?" Chris smiled and hugged Aria from behind, helping her zip up the dress.
"I am. How dare you come inside again?!" Aria turned and shouted, "Don't you dare say 'It was too good I lost control'!!"
"I... am... sorry?" Chris paled in fear, of course, he had intentionally come inside again.
"BASTARD!" Aria attacked him with her long nails and her leather purse, though Chris's awakened body barely took much damage from her beatings.
Chris allowed her to attack him for a while and finally, when she stopped. He apologized again and kissed her passionately, making her forget all of her anger.
...
"Mm~ Delicious! Try it!" Aria bit excitedly on a soft piece of pastry on her plate. A delightful expression graced her beautiful face as she cutely raised her arms towards Chris.
"Thank you," Chris smiled and opened his mouth, letting her feed him the pastry he just bought for her.
After the 'fun' in the cabin. Chris had taken Aria on a date all around the mall, buying delicious snacks and food for her to make up for the 'stunt' he had pulled.
Finally, for the dessert, the two were sitting beside each other in a famous bakery store, La Patisserie. A famous bakery chain that was well known for its sweet fluffy bread and an addicting palette of cakes and desserts.
Spending the whole day roaming around the mall, Chris noticed many items and shops in the surroundings.
However, those shops and stalls had also given him quite a big revelation and torrents of ideas.
The system had asked him to open a business, not a 'successful' one was necessary of course. What if, instead of using his precious EM and the rare charm pills, he just sold normal snacks?
The mission would still get completed technically. The profits will be just...meh, and the big business plans he had would go down into gutters, but. The mission will still be completed.
Chris rested his chin on the back of his palms and delved deeper into his thoughts, 'I was thinking of starting a bigger company with the idea of charm cream, but, just opening a small stall will save all that trouble.'
'However, what about the rise in my popularity and the big business setup?' Chris's subconscious asked him. His mind getting influenced yet again by greed for fame and attention.
'Charm cream...' he murmured softly in his mind, sighing at the rising greed within. However, he also knew that they were right.
If he was to open a small stall, then the plan would be on a smaller scale and short-sighted. He was thinking ahead, and starting a cosmetics brand on the rising fame he will most likely gain from the fest.
Even if it was just in E-Grade city, one shouldn't forget that the fest was still the infamous Grand Seasonal Fest. Not just any random fest held by some lowlifes who liked to flex their wealth to plebians of E-Grade city.
'What to do, option A or option B?' Chris scratched his long hair in vexation. His conscious and subconscious clashed against each other, pushing him into a state of constant turmoil.
"Chris! Try this too!" a sweet melodious voice suddenly pulled Chris out of his thoughts and she stuffed a spoon in his mouth, giggling at the little cream that stained his pink lips.
Surprised, Chris bit into the sweet cake. But, he was unsuccessful in recognizing the ingredients that gave it such rich and mellow flavors. Yet, the mellow and smooth textures of the pastry didn't compromise on its lavish, vividly strong taste.
"Mm, what is this flavor?? It is so delicious!" Chris opened his eyes wide and asked in surprise.
No wonder La Patisserie was the best bakery, regardless of the grade of the city.
"Hehe, I know! This one is simply the best! I want one more!" Aria nodded excitedly, ignoring the fact that the table in front of her was laden with various plates and cups.
"No, you already ate a lot! Too many sweets aren't good either, you know?" Chris squinted his eyes and tried to reason with her.
"Now you won't even let me eat?! The audacity!" Aria glared, baring her fangs like a hungry tigress who hadn't been fed for days!
"I-" at a loss for words, Chris quietly glanced at the scores of empty plates and cups on the table. His gesture was clear, yet, fully ignored by Aria who only wanted more of the cake.
Like a drug addict, she kept glaring dangerously at Chris until he had no choice but to call a waiter and repeat the order of the cake, whose name was apparently 'La Clandestine'
It was the bestseller and its name literally meant... The Secret...
No wonder Chris was unable to discern the secret behind the addicting flavors of this masterpiece. After all, even the top critics had failed at this seemingly easy but, surprisingly impossible task.
After subduing Aria's tantrums, Chris's mind automatically wandered back to the previous topic. Option A or Option B?
However, no matter how much he tried to reason, who was he trying to kid?
Greedy for riches and fame, his answer was already fixed into the stone. He was just trying to stall the inevitable.
'Charm cream it is... I really need to think of a better name though, haha' Chris grinned in his mind as he requested Aria to feed him again. His cheery mood was back in its full swing.
(Suggest some good names for the cream and cosmetics brand, thank you)
Aria was also in a good mood, contrary to her rage some time ago. She lovingly fed Chris, who only had one thought, 'She really loves sweets, huh?'
But... His well going date was suddenly interrupted by a sudden ringing of his phone, the message of a person he didn't expect to be contacted by so soon. Maximus Flagon aka Max!
