Chapter 22: You Were The One Who Offered

Editor: Henyee Translations

Liu Zhen believed his medical skills to be superb and was rather proud of himself. Nonetheless, the person he respected the most was his deceased teacher.

But Bai Weiwei’s tone was full of indifference. “Tonight, I shall let your teacher teach you what it is called having respect for teachers!

Liu Zhen turned red from anger and rebuked her harshly. “Little brat, don’t you dare insult my teacher. He passed away decades ago!”

Bai Chuwei gave him a meaningful smile and said, “Don’t worry. I’ll let him look for you tonight.”

Liu Zhen became angry to the point that he wanted to leave at once, but the Duan Family’s bodyguards blocked his way and appeased him. “Old Liu, don’t be angry because of this insensible child’s words. Just treat it as giving our third young master and Miss Tong some face. Miss Tong is currently on set with the third young master and they will return really soon.”

The Miss Tong whom he was referring to was not Tong Qingyan, but instead, her aunt, Tong Yunrou.

Liu Zhen’s complexion improved greatly upon hearing this and he glanced coldly at Bai Chuwei before leaving for the old man Duan’s courtyard.

Bai Chuwei regarded it as a small interruption and shrugged it off. Just as she wanted to leave, Duan Xingye blocked her path again.

“Weiwei, please don’t go. My grandfather can’t hold on any longer… Are you in a bad mood? Then… I’ll perform for you, alright? How about mimicking a?cat1?”

His handsome face turned red. In fact, he was embarrassed to perform such a mentally retarded song in the public, but it seems to be rather popular these days.

Right when he was about to start, he noticed a deep, chilly gaze on him and he trembled in fear.

Why was his fourth uncle looking at him like that?

Duan Feihan stared at Bai Chuwei and slowly spoke in a voice which was similar to the spring water that meandered down. “Miss Bai, although I am clueless about your sudden bad mood, but if you manage to treat my father, other than the consultation fee, I can unconditionally agree to one of your requests as long as it does not violate the laws.”

All the surrounding servants gasped and looked at Duan Feihan in disbelief.

The successor of a century old aristocratic family unconditionally accepted a blank request from a stranger!! The meaning behind this was inconceivable.

There was a female servant who could not help but imagine. What if Miss Bai asked to become the wife of the fourth young master, would he agree to it?

Duan Xingye looked from one to another for quite some time and felt that his fourth uncle’s promise was much more powerful in comparison…

Bai Chuwei was also stunned. Her eyebrows raised in interest and suddenly, she put her hands on Duan Feihan’s shoulders. Her slender and white fingers, similar to scallions, gently brushed across his broad shoulders. The man stiffened momentarily which didn’t escape Bai Chuwei’s notice.

She looked at the man’s serious phoenix-like eyes before standing on her tiptoes near him. She teased him by whispering in his ears. “You were the one who offered.”

Bai Chuwei’s eyes kindled with joy and she turned around to walk towards the old man Duan’s small courtyard.

Duan Xingye looked at Duan Feihan with a complicated gaze. “Uncle, I didn’t expect that the love between you father and son is so deep.”

Duan Feihan was indeed the youngest son of old man Duan, but he had always maintained a cold and indifferent temperament since a young age, thus his relationship with his family was rather thin.

Hence, he did not expect his fourth uncle to be willing to sacrifice his body for grandfather!

Duan Feihan had no intentions of acknowledging his words, and he bypassed Duan Xingye to keep up with Bai Chuwei’s footsteps.

The moment she entered the place, she saw Liu Zhen seated by the bed, checking the old man’s pulse.

Bai Chuwei stood on one side as she watched the scene in front of her with great interest.

Liu Zhen retracted his hands as the butler asked hastily. “Old Liu, is there any hope?”

He touched his beard and glanced at Bai Chuwei before speaking in a deep voice. “Yes, with my treatment, old man Duan can live for another two years.”

The moment he said that, everyone was overjoyed. The old man Duan was someone who had been declared as good as dead by the hospitals and doctors across, already.
