Chapter 192 - Better Than The Chefs In The Palace?
Chapter 192 - Better Than The Chefs In The Palace?
King Ophire smiled as he sipped his tea while watching the ambient air around his children.
Right now, Fritzen was placing a piece of cake on his sister's plate as it had been too far away from her reach.
Princess Felicia smiled in gratitude to her brother's kind gesture and began eating the cake even when she had eaten three other kinds of cakes already.
'My stomach hurts by looking at her eating these.' Fritzen grabbed his filled stomach and shook his head at her.
She had been sulking during their dinner that her promised desserts had not been served when they had met for their evening tea.
This caused her to consume only a small part of the meal while Fritzen had eaten his entire fill.
Thanks to this, Felicia got the chance to have an 'all you can eat dessert' buffet but Fritzen had to stop after the first two treats that he had tasted.
"We should have invited Uncle as well!" Felicia's enthusiastic voice brought him back to his senses and away from his thoughts.
He nodded in agreement and turned towards his father who had been observing them in silence for quite a while.
"Where is Uncle, Father?" He inquired about the young uncle's whereabouts.
'Shouldn't he be at home right now?' He wondered but was not sure at the same time.
Ever the elusive person, Draco Roschester was someone whom even Fritzen rarely got the chance to meet.
This was why the nephew had associated the young man with the likeliness of a cat, one which came and went as it pleased.
King Ophire's pleasant mood faded for a second when he was reminded of his little brother's absence but as he was before his kids, he could not let out his grievances.
"He has some work to do." He answered in a vague manner and diverted the topic to stop discussing this matter any longer.
He turned towards his little girl who gave him a serious nod as she stuffed another spoonful of the sugary treat into her mouth.
"So, Felly? Are they good enough to be served at your birthday celebration?" He questioned while glancing at the many treats that were on the table.
'I doubt that they could be any better than what the chefs in the Palace can make.' He assured himself but had to bow down to the request that his child had made.
He could not understand why she would insist on having this cafe serve the desserts for her celebration as he knew for a fact that the Palace had tastier treats.
The credit for this could be given to Glennise Brodie who would often come over and rave about how she had enjoyed the snacks that her mother had brought over from this cafe.
As she was Felicia's connection to the world outside the walls of the Palace, the Princess trusted the words of her closest friend and believed everything she said.
This trust was not broken today because the moment Felicia ate these desserts she was entranced by them.
The baker at Baron MacIntyre's cafe was gifted in what he did but how could that man be compared to the generations-old chefs who served the Royal Family?
The answer to this was simple.
If a person ate the food cooked by the same person every day, sooner or later they would get used to tasting their cooking style.
The novelty that Felicia was tasting in these desserts was what had made her like them and praise them more than what they deserved.
"These taste just as good as Glenny had described them to be!" Princess Felicia exclaimed as she gleamed with joy.
'So that child is the cause of the sudden demands?' King Ophire was now aware of why his daughter had been adamant about getting this cafe to cater for the birthday celebration.
The King was apprehensive about bringing food from the outside into the palace walls, which was why he had asked his steward to contact the Baron and get them to prepare special treats for them.
He had planned to get his daughter to taste them and then hoped that this would be the end of the matter.
However, as it appears right now, the Royal Princess seemed more bent upon having these desserts at the party.
Felicia, who had been tasting each treat, stopped and then turned towards her father with pouty lips.
"Father, Glenny spoke about a new dessert that was made right before her eyes. I want to have those as well!" She exclaimed while fluttering her lashes at him.
It was already past dinner time which meant that her request was impossible to be fulfilled immediately.
Though he was the Ruler of the land, he could not drag someone out of their house and make them bake something just because his child wanted to eat it.
'Then there would be no difference between me and the tyrant King from the Western islands.' He scoffed while thinking of that ruthless man who did whatever he pleased without caring about the consequences.
Since he was with his children, he did not wish to delve into the politics of the various Kingdoms and tossed that thought out of his mind.
"We can get that tomorrow for lunch so eat what is here at the moment." Fritzen spoke up to placate the child's demands.
Felicia knew better than to argue with her brother and nodded her head like a puppy who had been reprimanded.
"That Brodie girl only fills your mind with different things to eat." He scoffed as whenever he overheard their conversation it was always about some kind of food and never anything else.
Felicia puffed up her cheeks when she heard her friend being derided and was sure to defend her.
"She even talks about dresses and shoes and ribbons for tying up our hair!" She huffed and pointed at the pink bow that held her hair together, indicating that this was one of the ribbons that her friend had given to her as a present.
The childish words made the father have a good laugh as he watched the scene unfolding before him.
His son's actions had once again impressed him as he had diverted her attention while explaining to her that her demands were not right.
'My son is becoming wiser with age…' He mulled over his past childish behaviors and the one he had witnessed today.
While King Ophire was seeing Prince Fritzen in a new light, Felicia widened her eyes when she remembered something from earlier.
"Big brother, Glenny had something to say to you!" She announced in a loud voice which made the men frown as they shot her a disapproving leer.
They were angry with the little girl who had forgotten about her etiquettes and yelled out which was not how a member of their Royal Family should behave.
"Felly, watch your tone and volume." King Ophire reprimanded her making the girl nod to the words he had spoken for her betterment.
The Princess promptly lowered her head and swallowed the words that she was about to say about the violet-haired girl who was the reason why Glennise had wished to speak to the Prince.
