Chapter 196 - My Spokesperson!
Chapter 196 - My Spokesperson!
Yvonne and Mrs. Jacinth went to the entrance of the mansion to see the piano tutor to the door and bid her goodbye.
The words of praise that Governess Lester had spoken in favor of the child made her excited and elated.
She was gaining knowledge and experience in this skill and could soon end the classes so there was no reason why she would not be excited.
'If I can speed through those scores then I can end these classes quicker than expected!' She planned and decided to work harder to achieve this goal.
The master and maid headed towards the next room to wait for Marquess Samed, the last tutor of the day to arrive.
They did not have to wait for long as the man entered the room within a few minutes after Yvonne had taken her seat.
'He looks happy today.' She surmised after observing the wide smile on his face as he walked towards her.
"Aren't you the most famous child in Amarthea?" Marquess Samed smirked as he took his seat opposite her.
Yvonne curtsied to her tutor and took her seat with confusion apparent in her eyes.
'Famous, my ass! I'm sure that people must have forgotten that Earl St. Claire has a daughter because of how inactive I am in the social circles.' She rolled her eyes at the man who was spouting nonsense.
How could she stop her eye roll when he was speaking such ridiculous thing?
This pair of tutor and pupil had a relationship that was unlike the ones that others had.
They would bring out each other's inner personalities which would usually stay hidden when in the presence of outsiders.
"Oh? Hasn't Miss Claire heard about the news that is rampant in the Royal Palace?" He questioned with a smug look on his face.
The haughty expression he had on was making Yvonne want to thump her tiny fists right in his face but the words coming from the mouth on that same face made her freeze.
'Glennise Brodie, that big mouth!' She realized what he was talking about was the incident that had taken place at Baron MacIntyre's cafe.
She had expected that Glennise would speak to the Princess about the events that took place but she did not know that the entire Palace would come to know about this in such a short span of time.
Sullivan let out a chuckle when he saw the light of understanding flash through her eyes.
"So it is true that my prized pupil has done another charitable deed with a selfless heart?" He inquired with his eyes brimming with pride for her actions.
She had helped the Kingdom by improving the old policies and now she was helping Baron MacIntyre improve the business of his cafe.
Hearing what he had said, Yvonne was once again confused but soon the fog over her mind cleared and she understood that a big misunderstanding had taken place.
'Help that man for free? I am not running a charity here!' She snorted in disgust that they even had such a thought about her.
The help she had given to Marquess Samed was because she had knowledge that could prevent countless lives from being lost due to the lack of proper arrangements and planning when the plague arrived.
However, this time she had a purpose for granting her aid to the owner of the cafe.
Sullivan was observant of her reaction and the sneer on her face implied that she had other thoughts in mind.
Today while he was walking out of the Rose Palace, after the class with Princess Felicia and her playmates he had heard a few maids discussing this matter.
On his way out, he had met the Royal Steward who had given him the confirmation that the big-mouthed maids were speaking the truth.
The Steward then bid him goodbye and went towards the Rose Palace to apprehend the maids who did not know how to behave.
Marquess Samed had eavesdropped on the maids and even got them in trouble but he did not bother about it as he left the Palace and made his way over to the St Claire Estate.
Yvonne heard his side of the story and rubbed her forehead as people in the Palace would soon receive a shock after hearing the latest news which held the truth of the matter.
'I should let him know about what I have planned for the Baron.' She decided and then smiled at the silver-haired man.
"Marquess, there seems to be a miscommunication somewhere." She shook her head and sighed at this peculiarity.
Sullivan furrowed his brows as he waited for her to speak further.
Given the chance to speak her mind, Yvonne gave him a brief summary of what had happened at the cafe, her conversation with the Baron, and also about the agreement that she had drafted along with her father.
"A deal with the Baron in exchange for using the recipe you created?" He expressed what he had understood to be sure that they were on the same page.
The nod he received from her in return was enough for him to comprehend the entire situation.
'The girls were not clear with their words.' He attached the blame to the words of the children.
While he was thinking about this, a sudden thought popped up in his mind which made his eyes open wide.
"Are you doing this to set your foot in the business that you had planned for the future?" He scrutinized her face to catch any clues from her.
Yvonne did not hide her agenda from this man whom she was seeking guidance and aid for the future that has yet to come.
'He needs to know the truth…' The trusting little student confided in him about her plans.
Marquess Samed nodded as he heard the entire narration about her thought process, the same that she had shared with her father in his study.
Impressed as he was, he was also worried that her plans might not be as effective as she was hoping it to be.
'You cannot underestimate the pride of men in our Kingdom.' He wished to warn her about the same.
The society they lived in did not expect much from women as long as they did what they were told.
In such a place, this ambitious child was about to take her first step into an industry dominated solely by men, men who would do everything to keep their beliefs safe.
Yvonne seemed to have grasped the cause of worry in the man's heart and chose to speak a few words to lighten it.
"Papa will be the one speaking on my behalf today." She disclosed new information that he had not yet been privy to.
Rutherford had taken up the responsibility to be there and help his daughter in this endeavor that she had taken up.
'He will be representing me before the Baron. My spokesperson!' She snickered as she came up with this thought.
While she was giggling about Earl St. Claire being her legal representative, Marquess Samed was up with a new pressing question.
"Will the Baron come looking for you?" He wondered out loud while rubbing his chin.
