Chapter 205 - Thank You, Papa
Chapter 205 - Thank You, Papa
'I don't see any actual problem in the agreement other than the fact that I might become more famous than what I already am.' The little girl thought while rubbing her chin, deep in contemplation.
Yvonne was made aware of her popularity in the Palace through Marquess Samed but now, most of the noble populous would know about this agreement very soon.
This would turn into a burden for the little girl who wished to spend her days at home and away from the sights of the public, especially, the Royal family.
Other than the increase in her popularity, she could not find any other faults in what her father had planned and undertaken without letting her in on it.
Marquess Samed grinned when he received the appreciative nod from the man who had only ever shown him a grumpy face.
'I could feel his animosity ever since I had patted his daughter's head but it seems to have decreased by a small portion.' He surmised and was glad that he had offered his support to the Earl instead of his pupil.
Yvonne watched the men coming to an understanding through their eyes and rolled hers.
"Vonna has an allowance now?" Raylene questioned after she took her time to comprehend the explanation her husband had given.
The wife of a nobleman had the task to manage the household with the help of the head maid and the butler.
Just like every other woman, Raylene had the responsibility to make sure that the mansion ran smoothly with the finances which were under the name of the St. Claire family.
Butler Limo had the task of obeying the orders of his Madam and helping her run the house alongside her and her maids.
Raylene managed the Mansion of the St. Claire family with the money that the Earl would apportion for their household needs.
This money would be put under the Butler's care to look after it but the Madam was free to utilize it according to her wishes.
Even when she was the one running the house, the money remained under Rutherford or Butler Limo's care.
Managing the house was her duty but managing and accounting for the money being used were the Butler's.
Hence she was surprised that their child was given free rein over her allowance at such a young age.
"You need to be careful with this money and not spend it on everything that catches your eye." She taught her child the right thing to do.
It was not uncommon for a child to waste all the money they received on the very first day as it was extremely easy for shiny objects to win their favor.
Hence, as a mother, it was Raylene's duty to make sure that her child did not make the same mistake as everybody else.
Yvonne nodded her head like an obedient child and did not refuse the kind words that her mother had spoken.
'I would never spend my future investment on useless trinkets.' She declared and was sure that she would follow through.
The biggest reason for her confident declaration was the fact that she rarely left the mansion unless and until it was something unavoidable.
The first time she had left the mansion was to buy clothes for the tea party while the second time was for the tea party itself.
The latest was yesterday when she had gone outside with her mother on a shopping trip.
'I go out after so many days and get into trouble.' She scoffed as none of this would have happened if she had stayed in the safety of her room all day long.
She had spent a few months here but the times that she had ventured outside could be counted on her fingers.
Hence, she was sure that she would keep the money safe and not spend it on useless items that held no value to her future business plans.
Rutherford smiled as he watched his beloved wife teaching their child and felt a warmth spread through his chest.
Yvonne went back to eating her meal after she had realized that there was not much harm with the move that he had made.
'He did help me out and did not reject my idea straight away…' She pondered over her cold demeanor after they had sent the Baron away.
Yvonne was taught to be kind to her family and not be shy to ask for forgiveness when you wrong someone close to you and to be grateful when given help.
This teaching that her birth parents from her past life had imparted to her stuck to her like glue all her life.
Looking at the man who had helped her out when she needed his aid, Yvonne decided that being stiff necked and stubborn would take her nowhere.
So, she did what her heart had advised her to do.
Rutherford had been focusing his attention on the little girl who had been mad at him and was quick to catch her gaze which was now fixed on him.
"Thank you, Papa." She mumbled and was swift to look back down at her plate which was now half empty.
This was the first time that she had expressed her genuine gratitude to the man and not faked it to gain his favor or appear cute before her parents to placate their anger.
Hence there was a soft pink hue on her cheeks as she began stuffing the bread into her mouth to avoid meeting his gaze, making the elders chuckle after noticing her change in demeanor.
Marquess Samed was given this opportunity to witness her cute appearance and he was glad that he had shamelessly stuck around for lunch.
'She always has that stern and serious look in our classes. This is how a child must be! Cute and adorable!' He scowled at the little girl who did not act like one most of the time.
Her adorable appearance which resembled a hamster with her cheeks puffed out due to the excess bread that she had stuffed into her mouth was the reason for their hearty laughter.
Yvonne did not lift her head to avoid enraging her heart as she was now the object of their cheerful laughter.
'Let them have their laugh this time, Yvonne!' She controlled her anger as she bit off another piece of the bread.
Rutherford could not stop his smile from widening after hearing her soft mumble as she thanked him.
'Vonna is cute when she is angry and when she is being obedient!' He exclaimed and nodded at her.
The doting father was satisfied with the minor gesture she had made to express her gratitude for what he had done.
He had not done this with the expectation of gaining anything from her, all he wanted was for her to be happy and not feel that others were better than her or that she lacked something.
Being her father, he was willing to provide her with whatever it was that she needed and in return, he only wished to see her smiling and living a healthy life.
Ever since the accident that had taken place at their Summer Estate, this father would have sudden and weird sensations of dread envelop his heart when he thought of his only daughter's future.
This moment was one such time when he felt that way.
'Papa will keep you safe, Vonna. I promise!' Rutherford vowed as he glimpsed at the little girl who still remained staring at the plate without looking up at anyone around her.
