Chapter 24
C24 – Compete with the Sun and Moon
Initially, Wang Xiao was merely an observer to the unfolding spectacle. However, witnessing the hefty individual being rebuffed didn’t noticeably stir his emotions.
Discovering that the girl had been romantically involved with her boyfriend while simultaneously soliciting money from Bei Tai prompted Wang Xiao to frown.
Observing the stout man being assaulted and collapsing before him, he chose to intervene.
“It’s about transactional relations, not solicitation…”
At Wang Xiao’s words, Lin Hua was taken aback momentarily, then erupted into laughter. Relenting his clench, he replied, “You are correct. Why should solicitation provoke my ire?”
“Adopting such a perspective would be ideal.”
A smirk played on Wang Xiao’s lips as he addressed Lin Hua.
Their discussion wasn’t conducted in hushed tones, causing uproarious laughter among the nearby students who were witnessing a verbal skirmish devoid of actual words for the first time.
“Yun Yi, he is berating me!”
Anger flushing her face, Jiajia appealed to the affluent young master.
On hearing her complaint, Yun Yi, the scion of wealth, confronted Wang Xiao with a warning glare, saying frostily, “Interfering in affairs that are not your concern can have repercussions; you might find Forest City University unwelcoming.”
“Leniency should prevail where it can. He has been your plaything for a year. Extend me this courtesy. Let it pass.”
Wang Xiao exhorted, addressing Yun Yi with a sigh.
“Who do you reckon you are, asking for respect from our Young Master Yun? You’re merely a neophyte.”
Before Yun Yi could respond, one of his minions chastised Wang Xiao aggressively.
“Retract your finger, or else…”
Wang Xiao’s response to the intrusive gesture was assertive and his tone, grave.
“What consequence is there? I’ll continue to point, and what can you possibly do about it?”
The underling sneered at Wang Xiao’s warning, even taunting him by prodding his nose multiple times, his gesture seemingly throwing a challenge: “What will you do about it?”
Kacha…
Suddenly, a sharp sound resonated through the air—the sound of a finger snapping.
Wang Xiao seized the younger brother’s right index finger with one hand and pressed it forcefully, causing it to bend in an unnatural arc. This action forced the younger brother to scream in agony, kneeling on the ground, his face paling, and a cold sweat beading on his forehead.
“Ah, my finger! It’s broken. Release me at once, let go!”
The little brother remained knelt on the ground, shrieking in torment. However, still held firmly by Wang Xiao, he dared not make any sudden moves.
“I already cautioned you against pointing at my nose. Why didn’t you heed my warning?”
Wang Xiao’s demeanor was impassive, speaking to the little brother with detachment, as if his current actions were of no significant concern.
Hiss…
Observing this, onlookers drew in a sharp intake of breath, eyes filled with a mix of fear and respect as they watched Wang Xiao.
This young man is relentless!
Lin Hua, witnessing this, looked at Wang Xiao with admiration filling his eyes.
“Young man, you better release my brother. If not, neither you nor this wretched fellow will be leaving here today!”
Yun Yi, upon witnessing the scene, exhibited a grim expression. He glared fiercely at Wang Xiao and spoke with an icy tone.
“Oh, is that so?”
When Wang Xiao perceived the conversation, he swiveled his head to regard Yun Yi, simultaneously releasing his grip from the finger of the thug, allowing him to plummet to the floor, wailing in agony.
Observing Wang Xiao release his underling, a subtle breath of relief escaped Yun Yi. However, his gaze towards Wang Xiao shifted to a colder one. He inquired with a stern tone, “Young man, to which grade and department do you belong? State your name!”
The audacity of breaking his accomplice’s finger right before him! Naturally, Yun Yi couldn’t overlook such insolence!
“I’m a freshman from the Traditional Chinese Medicine Program.”
Wang Xiao addressed Yun Yi, his demeanor composed.
“A freshman?”
Upon hearing Wang Xiao’s declaration, Yun Yi and his cohorts were left aghast. Subsequently, a scornful smile surfaced on their faces, deducing the lad confronting them had no support. Yun Yi sneered, “A novice daring to advocate for this worthless bulk. He’s truly overestimating his capabilities.”
“Young man, you not only defy me for this worthless individual but also defend him. Don’t assert that the senior didn’t afford you an opportunity. Prostrate and offer three bows to me now, and compensate ten thousand yuan for the medical expenses. Then, I’ll consider sparing you!”
“Ten thousand yuan, why not just commit robbery!”
Lin Hua’s countenance fell upon hearing this, vociferating his disdain towards Yun Yi.
“Worthless bulk, we will settle our accounts shortly. For now, stand back quietly and refrain from spewing nonsense!”
Yun Yi regarded Lin Hua with contempt, articulating in an icy tone.
“You!” Lin Hua, flushed with rage, was on the brink of responding.
Wang Xiao, stationed next to him, gestured him to hold back, asserting, “Leave this to me!”
Subsequent to his statement, he directed his attention to Yun Yi, challenging, “And what happens if I refuse?”
“No? Hehe, then don’t blame us for being impolite.”
Yun Yi said to Wang Xiao with a sneer on his face.
Once his voice had ceased, several subordinates had already encircled Wang Xiao and Lin Hua, appearing prepared to strike.
Lin Hua’s expression turned grave. He tightened his fists, seemingly ready to battle with all his might.
“Young Master Yun, you possess such charm.”
Observing this, Jia Jia clasped onto Yun Yi’s arm, voicing her admiration.
“If not, how could I be worthy of being your companion?”
At Jia Jia’s words, a smile touched the corner of Yun Yi’s mouth. He responded by encircling her waist with his arm.
Jiajia merely chuckled several times, making no move to disengage from Yun Yi’s hold.
Other students, observing this tableau, expressed their sympathy towards Wang Xiao. Initially spectators to the unfolding drama, they felt it unfortunate that he chose to defend Fatty. Was he not inviting trouble upon himself?
“Hehe, boasting before the battle’s commencement? These fragile beings could be managed single-handedly.”
Observing Yun Yi and Jia Jia absorbed in their conversation, Wang Xiao interjected with a smirk.
Swoosh!
His remarks sparked renewed uproar amongst the spectators.
“Even now, why does he continue with this charade?”
“True, is he not inviting a thrashing deliberately?”
Certainly, anger was evident on their faces upon hearing Wang Xiao’s retorts.
“No more needs to be said. Let’s display to him his own insignificance and enlighten him on the vastness of the world!”
Hearing this, Yun Yi, with a stern visage, addressed his underlings.
“Yes, Young Master Yun!”
The underlings, simmering with repressed anger, sprang into action at Yun Yi’s command, surging forward with clenched fists towards Wang Xiao.
“A firefly daring to rival the luminance of the celestial bodies! Haha!”
Wang Xiao, witnessing the advancing students, sneered dismissively. He positioned his left hand on his waist, adjusted his stance, and extended his right hand, ready to meet the assailants.
Bang, bang, bang…
Instantaneously, the clear sound of a slap resonated throughout the square.
Wang Xiao’s silhouette danced like a phantom among the crowd. With every strike of his palm, one of the student’s henchmen was projected away.
Within moments, the square was crowded with students, their hands to their faces, vocalizing their agony.
The faces of these minions were puffy and inflamed from the blows, as though a goose egg was forced into their mouths.
“Remarkable! He is taking on so many of Young Master Yun’s disciples single-handedly!”
“More impressively, he subdued numerous individuals using just one hand.”
“This has to be martial arts!”
The spectacle drew a storm of reactions from the surrounding students, a tumult of discussions and screams, overwhelming and piercing.
“How… how can this be possible!”
Yun Yi, witnessing the ordeal, wore a distorted expression. A flicker of dread crossed his eyes, and Jia Jia next to him appeared even more distressed.
Who is this youngster really?
How is he so formidable?
“Your little brother is already incapacitated; you’re next.”
Wang Xiao turned to Yun Yi, a sly smile gracing his features.
“What do you intend? Are you aware of my identity?”
Perceiving the teasing glint in Wang Xiao’s eyes, Yun Yi, now in distress, addressed Wang Xiao.
Pa…
Wang Xiao extended his hand, striking Yun Yi across the face, his voice dripping with contempt, “Do you always find pleasure in uttering harsh words? Does it serve any purpose?”
From this slap, Yun Yi’s right cheek instantly reddened and puffed up, resembling a space large enough to hold a goose egg.
“You… you dare strike me!”
Disbelief filled Yun Yi’s widened eyes. Due to the swelling, his speech was slightly slurred and tinted with a whisper of anger.
Pah…
Upon hearing Yun Yi’s retort, Wang Xiao delivered another slap, eyes narrowing, he coldly remarked, “What consequence is it to me if I struck you?”
The other side of Yun Yi’s face now mirrored the first, appearing like two inflated frogs at a glance.
Slap.
Dissatisfied, Wang Xiao landed another hit after his words.
“Thought you were formidable? Expecting me to kneel and bow?”
Post the slaps, Yun Yi’s face resembled a swollen pig. Realizing resistance was futile and perilous, his eyes welled up, pleading, “Big Brother, it’s a misunderstanding. Please, have mercy.”
Smack…
Wang Xiao was reveling in the assault, indifferent to Yun Yi’s pleas. Raised in opulence, Yun Yi had soft skin, making striking him oddly satisfying. Wang Xiao, unrelenting, delivered another blow.
“Expecting me to hand over ten thousand yuan, are you?”
After the altercation, Wang Xiao managed to rationalize his actions.
The witnessing students were aghast, exchanging bewildered glances.
Such mercilessness from this kid!
