Chapter 30
C30 – You’re Too Slow!
“Do you really have the strength?”
Wang Xiao responded to Chu Yang’s challenge with an unruffled demeanor, his gaze steady and dismissive, as if Chu Yang’s words were of no consequence.
“Let’s find out then!”
Chu Yang’s eyes narrowed fiercely as he declared in a deep voice. Without hesitation, his fist clenched, his figure sprang into action, and he charged at Wang Xiao, launching an attack before Wang Xiao had any chance to respond.
Chu Yang closed the distance with incredible speed. In just a moment, he was upon Wang Xiao.
Whoosh…
His powerful fist sliced through the air, streaking toward Wang Xiao like a shooting star.
“Ah, Big Brother Wang Xiao, watch out!”
Tong Waner, witnessing the scene unfold, her face washed with shock and concern, cried out to Wang Xiao.
“Don’t worry, Waner. He’s no match for me.”
Wang Xiao remained composed, flashing a reassuring smile at Tong Waner as he casually extended his right hand, seemingly ready to catch Chu Yang’s punch.
“Haha, such arrogance from the youth. Chu Yang is renowned among the Chu Family’s younger generation, and yet you dare to claim he’s no threat?”
Chen Peng, having recovered from the wreckage of the shattered desk and spat out a mouthful of blood, now breathed more easily. He sneered at Wang Xiao’s confidence.
Chu Yang’s demeanor might have been nonchalant and dismissive, but that didn’t mean he lacked strength.
“Young man, you managed to defeat Chen Peng, which means you’re not without skill. But you’re still not in my league.”
Chu Yang noticed Wang Xiao’s outstretched hand and his lips curled into a slight sneer as he spoke coolly.
His eyes turned vicious as he spoke, and his fist thundered down upon Wang Xiao’s right palm.
Crack…
The crisp sound of breaking bones echoed suddenly.
Against all expectations, it wasn’t Wang Xiao’s palm that was shattered, but Chu Yang’s own fist. His expression twisted in shock and disbelief as he stared at his broken hand, a surge of excruciating pain radiating from the injury.
The pain was intense. My hand!
How could his palm be so incredibly hard?
Chu Yang’s complexion turned an ashen hue as two thoughts flashed through his mind. His punch had felt like it collided with an impenetrable wall. As a result, the “wall” remained intact, while the bones in his fingers shattered.
“Why are your hands so tough? Have you been training in Iron Sand Palm?”
Chu Yang swiftly backed away, eyeing Wang Xiao with a wary look, his voice grave.
In his mind, such hardness was characteristic of the Iron Sand Palm technique.
“Iron Sand Palm? Why would I bother with such a pointless technique?”
Wang Xiao responded with a scornful chuckle and a dismissive shake of his head.
Chu Yang’s brow furrowed at Wang Xiao’s response. Wang Xiao’s hands were smooth, lacking the rough calluses typical of someone who had trained in Iron Sand Palm.
“Enough, I’ve already given you one free shot. Now it’s my turn.”
Wang Xiao’s interest in toying with Chu Yang had waned. He spoke indifferently, his gaze fixed on Chu Yang.
Swoosh!
In an instant, Wang Xiao’s figure blurred, vanishing from sight.
“Such incredible speed!”
Chu Yang’s face contorted with alarm at the sight of Wang Xiao’s swift movement. Just then, a chilling breeze and the looming presence of a shadow behind him signaled danger.
“You’re too slow!”
The serene voice echoed from behind Chu Yang.
Damn!
Chu Yang’s face twisted in panic, his reflexes sharp as he spun, his fist lashing out behind him.
Bang!
But before he could fully turn, a formidable force struck his back with a thunderous impact.
Puff…
Blood spurted from Chu Yang’s mouth as he was hurled backward, slamming into the office door.
In an instant, Chu Yang shattered the door, sending splinters of wood scattering in disarray.
Hiss…
Witnessing Wang Xiao’s astonishing kick, Chen Peng inhaled sharply, his eyes bulging with amazement.
“Is Chu Yang, one of the Chu Family’s finest in Forest City, truly no match for Wang Xiao?”
Chu Yang didn’t come to a halt after demolishing the office door. He continued his uncontrolled trajectory, crashing into the corridor wall with a resounding thud that seemed to shake the entire Chen Group building, trembling like an earthquake, even the saplings outside.
“Cough cough…”
Chu Yang struggled to rise from the ground, his breath feeble. He coughed lightly, expelling the congealed blood from his mouth.
Then, his gaze fixed on Wang Xiao with a cold, vengeful intensity. “Wang Xiao, the Chu Family from Forest City won’t let this slide. You just wait!” he spat out through clenched teeth.
With those final words, he spun on his heel and bolted for the staircase.
“Big talk for someone who’s running away,” Wang Xiao sneered, shaking his head dismissively.
He then turned to Chen Peng with a detached look in his eyes. “Chen Peng, your last line of defense has taken off. No one’s here to save you now. Time to join your son.”
Chen Peng’s face drained of color as he watched Chu Yang beaten into retreat. Wang Xiao’s words only cemented his despair, leaving him utterly defeated.
Chu Yang had been sent packing, and Chen Peng stood no chance against the likes of Wang Xiao.
With a chilling snap, Wang Xiao showed no mercy as he approached Chen Peng and effortlessly broke his neck.
“Blame yourself for hiring a hit on my woman and letting your son try to harm her. Either offense alone is punishable by death,” Wang Xiao remarked coldly, glancing at Chen Peng’s lifeless body.
No one could have imagined that the once formidable head of the Chen Group would meet his end in such a way.
“Big Brother Wang Xiao, what do we do now?” Tong Waner asked, her voice tinged with anxiety as she clutched his hand, staring at the corpse with wide eyes.
“Don’t worry. Just tell Dad everything that happened here. He’ll handle it. He won’t pass up the chance to take over the Chen Group,” Wang Xiao reassured her, smiling gently as he patted her head.
At his comforting words, Tong Waner’s cheeks flushed with warmth, and a wave of happiness washed over her. She nodded earnestly and replied, “Okay, Big Brother Wang Xiao, I’ll do as you say.”
After she finished speaking, she dialed her father, Tong Shan.
Shortly after, she ended the call and turned to Wang Xiao, “Big Brother Wang Xiao, Dad’s in the loop. He wants us to head back and act clueless for now. He’ll handle it.”
“Alright, I’ll take you back to school. Can’t have you missing the university’s opening ceremony tomorrow.”
Wang Xiao, seemingly having anticipated his future father-in-law’s response, nodded nonchalantly and addressed Tong Waner.
“Okay!”
Tong Waner nodded sweetly, took Wang Xiao’s hand, and they both left the Chen Group premises.
……
Inside the Tong Group skyscraper, a man with an authoritative visage slowly set down the receiver, a slight smile curling his lips as he murmured to himself.
“Wang Xiao certainly has brought me my fair share of surprises!”
Tong Shan, usually stern-faced, was now beaming.
“Is there good news?”
Suddenly, a raspy voice echoed in the office, though Tong Shan was the room’s sole occupant; the voice seemed to emanate from the shadows.
“The Chen father and son are dead, taken care of by that stinky kid, Wang Xiao. With the Chen Group leaderless, it’s the perfect opportunity for us to take over!”
Tong Shan’s face was alight with a smile as he responded.
“It looks like your son-in-law has delivered a fine dowry indeed!”
The hoarse voice from the darkness teased.
“Indeed, it seems I have no choice but to give my daughter away to him,” Tong Shan replied with a wry smile, “But Waner likes the boy, and she values him even more than her own father.”
“Haha, Tong Shan, who would’ve thought you’d be envious of your own son-in-law? I bet he took out the Chen duo now to protect Waner,” the shadowy figure chortled.
“A woman grows up and moves on. Let them be,” Tong Shan said with a light chuckle, shaking his head. Then, his demeanor turned serious, and he spoke gravely, “That young man has done so much for Waner. As her father, I need to contribute as well. Gui Ying, I’m entrusting you with dealing with the Chen Group’s die-hard loyalists.”
“Rest assured, I’ll handle it cleanly,” came the serious reply from the shadowy figure in the darkness.
No sooner had the words been spoken than he vanished from the office, leaving behind a hush as if Tong Shan had been alone there all along.
Tong Shan turned to gaze out at the nocturnal landscape of Forest City from his office window, his eyes reflecting a profound depth. He murmured to himself, “Wang Xiao, it’s been half a year since we last met. Why have you changed so drastically? What on earth have you been through…”
