Chapter 85: Agreed

“It’s mainly because Old Sir informed Mr. Cheng in advance, and Mr. Cheng agreed,” Butler Wen added.

Fang Yuan was taken aback, her father agreed? That seemed impossible!

Bo Desong then played a voice message for her. “This is a voice message from your father.”

In the recording, Cheng Ye’s voice echoed, “Old Sir, you must be joking. Yuanyuan is with you. What else do I have to worry about? Then I won’t leave the door open for her tonight…” Cheng Ye believed his daughter would become a member of the Bo family soon, and Bo Desong had promised they wouldn’t share a room. He liked his future granddaughter-in-law and wanted her to stay in the Spring Garden for the night, guarded by dozens of servants. Unable to refuse, he reluctantly agreed.

Fang Yuan was left speechless. She hadn’t expected her father to agree so readily. Her mind was a whirlwind of thoughts.

“Yi, take Yuanyuan to the room on the north side of the third floor. It’s already prepared.” Bo Desong instructed Butler Wen, “Bring a lamp for Yuanyuan and check how much time has passed since the call.”

“Of course,” Butler Wen responded, handing a lantern to Fang Yuan.

Bo Yi intervened, saying, “Allow me.” He took the lamp and held Fang Yuan’s hand with his free one as they ascended the stairs.

Though the path was dimly lit, the gentle glow of the lantern and the warmth of her palm eased Fang Yuan’s unease.

“Are you afraid of the dark?” Bo Yi asked, his arm around her shoulders. “If you are, come closer.”

Fang Yuan was speechless. She wasn’t afraid of the dark, not when she had faced much greater darkness in her past.

When they reached the northern room, Fang Yuan realized the lamp was inadequate. The room was too vast, and its feeble light barely pierced the darkness. In the dimness, Bo Yi looked at the girl before him. Her eyes shone like stars in the night sky, casting a beguiling radiance.

“I’ll stay here with you until the electricity comes back,” he said softly, unable to resist reaching out to touch her delicate face. He marveled at how soft, smooth, and tender her skin felt. Her face was so small that it easily fit within the palm of his hand.

Fang Yuan turned her face away and replied calmly, “There’s no need. You can go and do your work.”

Bo Yi protested, “There’s nothing to do.”

Fang Yuan suggested, “Then go and keep Grandpa company.”

Bo Yi countered, “Grandpa has been busy all day. He should rest.”

Fang Yuan glanced at the affectionate guy in front of her and couldn’t help but feel a bit overwhelmed. “Then return to your room.”

“I want to stay with you,” Bo Yi admitted, his breath quickening. The graceful aura radiating from the girl made him yearn to be closer, nearer…

Just then, his phone rang abruptly. After taking the call, he turned to the girl in his arms and informed her, “The power supply is malfunctioning. It won’t be restored tonight.”

Fang Yuan’s expression was a mixture of surprise and disbelief.

“I’m going to see if there are any spare clothes in here,” Bo Yi announced, needing to distance himself before losing control.

Upon entering the bedroom’s walk-in closet, Bo Yi realized there were no suitable clothes.

“Wait for me. I’ll fetch you some clothes,” he said, departing to find something suitable. “Grandpa had these prepared in advance. Check if any of them fit.”

Fang Yuan was left speechless. It seemed the old man had planned for everything…

She examined the clothing options in the dim light, only to discover that they were all provocative straps and lace tulle dresses, with not a single normal outfit among them.

Bo Yi, noticing her predicament, smiled and offered, “I’ll bring you some of my clothes.”

He left once more and, after a short while, returned with his pajamas and a shirt for her to choose from.

His pajamas were excessively long and oversized. In the end, Fang Yuan opted for his shirt and a comparatively modest undergarment from the stack of alluring pajamas. Clutching the lamp, she prepared to head to the bathroom. Out of nowhere, a sudden gust of wind forcefully slammed the bedroom door shut with a resounding bang.

When Bo Yi attempted to reopen the door, it refused to budge.

“Old Sir, your ingenuity truly knows no bounds to create such an artificial breeze!” Butler Wen quipped, suppressing his laughter while gazing at the firmly closed door. “Young Master will undoubtedly call me later for the spare key. See, here it is!”

Bo Yi made the call.

Doing his best to stifle his amusement, Butler Wen answered the call with feigned seriousness, “Young Master, that bedroom was prepared for Young Madam at the last minute. There’s no spare key. Why don’t you make the best of it for the night?”

“That’s a bit excessive,” Bo Yi’s voice came through the phone, clearly aware of what was happening.

“What do you mean? Young Master, I’m not sure I understand. Hello, Young Master, the signal here is quite poor. Hello, hello.” Butler Wen quickly hung up and powered off his phone..
