Chapter 58 Reality (2)
After an hour of fighting non-stop, the party finally had a few minutes of rest, and Jake fell to the ground while not caring if monsters would appear soon. He was exhausted. He spent one hour swinging his sword and shield without stopping to rest, after all. Still, Jake was feeling more refreshed than ever before.
"Well, that was fun," Jake said, even though he was surrounded by thousands of corpses of bees.
"What an ordeal…" Lana said and then sighed.
Although Lana didn't get hit and only used her buffs and healing magic, she almost saw Jake dying several times. The tension made her get tired as she tried her best to prevent him from suffering a game over. Even if the enemies were weak, they still faced thousands of them.
"We will rest for ten minutes before proceeding further," Jake said.
"We still have four hours before the mission ends. What is the hurry?" Lana asked.
"I am not in a hurry. I just think we don't need more than that to rest," Jake replied.
Actually, Jake needed to rest for more than that. His mana and stamina were almost empty, and only ten minutes wouldn't be enough to heal them. He will need at least half an hour for that, but he was thinking that it was the exact amount of time they would need to find the boss.
"While you try to play it cool, it seems you are quite eager to go and clear the dungeon of the fifth map," Lana said. "Honestly, while I am curious, I am also a bit scared…"
"I understand the feeling, but that is pretty exciting," Louise smiled.
"Well, you really look like someone who would like spooky things," Lana furrowed her eyebrows. "I can't understand people who like scary things, to be honest. Isn't that like masochism?"
"You think so?" Louise asked, visibly confused. "It isn't like most people find arousal on spooky things… not that I am aware of."
"What about you, Jake?" Lana asked. "Do you like scary things?"
"I couldn't care less about it," Jake shrugged. "Still, people are allowed to have fun doing whatever they feel like it unless it is a crime."
"How unexpected of you," Lana said. "I was almost sure that you wouldn't say the last sentence."
"You really do have a low opinion of me, don't you?" Jake asked. "Well, not that I care about it."
After those ten minutes of rest, the group began to move on to the center of the forest since the bees were starting to appear again. In the end, Jake's gut feeling was spot on… after walking for twenty minutes and then killing a few hundred bees, they found a massive beehive that was like ten stores tall and a massive bee sitting above it.
Deadly Queen Bee Lv 75
Health: 10050/10050
Mana: 12500/12500
Stamina: 4200/4200
The boss was essentially a massive bee, but there was a problem… its sting was purple. It was a clear sign that it was a poisonous… even if it weren't poisonous, it still would be dangerous since the bee was two times bigger than any human, and the sting was the since of a human. It certainly could impale a character with little defense. Jake was certain that if he failed to keep the aggro on himself, the girls might die with a single hit.
"Eww… I hate big bugs," Lana said.
Louise seemed calm enough, and Lana wasn't worried about a game over in the slightest. Jake shook his head when he saw that. Nevertheless, while Jake wanted to enjoy the thrill of fighting a boss again, he needed a battle plan to make sure that things won't go wrong.
"Louise, attack only when the monster is attacking me," Jake said. "Fire attacks might cause extra damage, but if you keep causing a critical hit and aiming at the monster's weakness, you will draw its attention. Use Ice Arrow as much as possible… that should slow down the enemy if things get dangerous."
While Jake wanted some, he wouldn't risk a game over for it without knowing the strength of the enemy. Based on what they could see, the monster will only attack if the hive is damaged. Jake couldn't see the crystal that all dungeons should have, but it was probably inside it. While Jake was thinking of that, he noticed ten bees leaving the beehive and then flying toward them. They were probably newborn monsters, but they had pretty impressive instincts.
"You know what to do, right?" Jake asked Lana.
"The usual. Why don't you just ask for the buffs directly?" Lana asked.
"Stay behind me, but keep your focus since I might have to dodge some big attacks," Jake said. "As soon the monsters appear, burn them down. I can't change my focus in the middle of the battle."
Without wasting any time, Jake dashed toward the monsters that appeared and then split them in half in just a few seconds. Once that happened, the queen bee finally looked at them, showing anger with its red eyes.
