Unsealing Emptiness

Chapter 24

Attack.

Walking through the gate, Raven’s expression turned colder by the second. She was mature for her age. So, she figured out the culprit.

“It is that Viscount, isn’t it?”- Raven turned around to look at Ozul.

“Presumably,” Ozul showed no fluctuations in his voice, but Raven knew that he was annoyed.

“Will we not do anything about it?” Raven wanted nothing more than to butcher that Noble! She had come to hate every Noble after realizing that they might be the reason for her village’s destruction.

“No, we will strike back,” It was a simple answer, but more than enough for Raven to calm down. Ozul then continued

“Rest, we will leave at night,”

Hearing that they will strike back at night, Raven was stunned. It seemed as though Ozul was pissed.

But she did not complain, and after fixing a thing or two, she collapsed on the couch. Ozul did not need any rest, because today he barely did anything. Instead, he was thinking some things through.

.....

‘Viscount, huh. Only the Count is above him in the Azmar City. And it is common knowledge among people that they are not on good terms.’

‘Furthermore, the Viscount is only a Rank-5 Mage, and he is the strongest in his household. If he does not have any support from the Count, then it will be easy.’

‘The Count is a Rank-6 Mage, and I can’t deal with someone like him. It will be troublesome only if the Viscount is also a Rank-5 Fighter,’ Ozul does not talk that much, but inside his mind, he plans everything.

The thing is, Ozul can take all of the Viscount’s household alone just because of his advantage—Ball of Purity.

No normal Mage could see the Black substance in the middle of the night. And Ozul could also change the Ball of Purity into the gaseous state; most people would fail to notice anything.

Now imagine what will happen when you least expect it, your shadow kills you? Furthermore, Ozul can disperse the Ball of Purity anytime he wants and reproduces it from within.

In simple words, Ozul was godlike when present in dark surroundings.

. . .

Hours passed, and the night came.

Ozul could also not leave Raven behind. What if when he is away, some other people come here? He can’t take any chances.

He had bought two black kitsune masks to cover both his and Raven’s faces. If they are recognized, they can just leave the City. But Ozul preferred to avoid the trouble of moving between places.

Anyways, both Raven and Ozul leaped through the buildings in the middle of the night. Raven had already become a Rank-1 Fighter with the help of the pills. So, for the most part, she could keep up with Ozul.

They would hardly see any people on the streets. But nearing the Viscount’s Manor, things were not so quiet.

Ozul would have to infiltrate the clan as quietly as possible, and killing the outer guards will only make a commotion.

They went around the front and arrived at the left side of the outer walls. Ozul and Raven only had the advantage of surprise, and they did not want to lose it. So, they invaded the estate as silently as possible.

Now inside, they just had to kill as many as possible. They entered the building’s corridors. Some guards stationed there were alerted.

“Hey! Who are you, and how did you enter in here!?” One of the guards yelled loudly.

But before they could do anything, a single, pitch-black needle tore a hole through their heads, and they fell like chickens on the floor.

No sound came from the corridor, except for Ozul and Raven’s footsteps.

They did not care about the corpses on the floor as they marched forwards. A gigantic hall came into their view after the corridor. Only two guards stood at the main entrance to the room.

Only a single light crystal in the middle illuminated the hall. Ozul decided to destroy it first and then create a commotion here.

The guards noticing the two weird intruders decided to sound the alarm. Just under a minute, tens of people surrounded the area!

Ozul did not move from his position. He wanted to ask something to the Viscount.

After another minute or so, from the stairs came down a man in his mid-forties. He wore a red robe befitting of a noble and walked with long strides.

As he arrived, everyone present bowed their heads except for a teen boy who looked like the son of the Viscount. The teen looked just as arrogant as his now-dead brother.

Some people present there had created small fireballs, which slightly illuminated the spacious hall.

“Who sent you? Ah, who am I even asking? It is that bastard, Oliver, isn’t it!?”- The Viscount thought that Count Oliver was the one who sent the assassins.

“I will tell you if you answer my question.”- Ozul wanted to know if the Viscount was the perpetrator behind Raven’s village massacre.

There were only two people who could order such a thing; the Count or the Viscount. No one other than these two had the authority or the means to accomplish such a thing.

“Huh?! Of course, I did it. Those idiots refused to hand over the new Ochite gemstone mine. So, I removed them out of my way.” The Viscount admitted the act.

Ozul saw Raven’s whole body twitch for a second before she calmed down.

The Ochite mentioned above was a gemstone used in jewelry. When they found the mine, it came under the influence of the village. The Viscount razed the village to obtain the Ochite mine.

Getting his answer, Ozul decided to ask the final question,

“So, does your son knows where the treasury is?”- Ozul asked.

“HUH? Of course, he knows! He i...”- The Viscount could not finish his words when all the people present began to fall on the ground.

“Then, I shall not kill him.” Ozul plainly said as he controlled all the needles hidden in the shadows behind everyone’s necks.

In just a few seconds, everyone was dead except for the Viscount and his son.

“Y-YOU! I will not forgive you for this! Just see how I will torture you until you beg for death!”- The Viscount was enraged as all his trusted people had died just in the blink of an eye.

“I do not want your forgiveness.”- Ozul said while he readied himself for the battle.

The Viscount was a Water Mage; all of his Spells were water-based. He started by creating a water shield around him.

The Viscount did not dare underestimate Ozul as he could not even feel Mana from him! Yet, he had killed so many people in mere seconds!

Ozul clicked his tongue when he noticed that his opponent was not as arrogant as he thought him to be.

‘It could get tricky.’- Ozul wanted the Viscount to drop his guard around him, but contrary to his expectations, not everyone was an idiot.

Ozul sent several blades made out of Ball of Purity towards the Viscount. But before they could even reach him, they were shot down by water bullets.

The Viscount then produced sharp spikes of water to strike Ozul. Ozul stopped all those spikes by side-stepping at the right times.

He merged all the blades to create a sizeable cone-shaped drill that rotated at high speed and lunged towards the Viscount.

The Viscount realized that this attack could be fatal. He strengthened his defenses and created a giant ball of water to collide with the drill.

The Viscount managed to prevent the attack; just as he was gasping for breath, the drill turned into hundreds of thin-sharp needles and shot towards him.

He did not have time to cast another spell due to the speed of the needles. The Viscount could only put his hopes into the water shield.

Unfortunately for Ozul, the Viscount was also a Rank-4 Fighter. Now, Under normal circumstances, it did not matter for Ozul’s needles, but the water shield reduced the force of the attack by a large margin. This caused the needles not to be able to penetrate the Viscount’s skin.

The Viscount sighed in relief, but his expression turned furious after realizing how close he was to the Death’s door.

He prepared to cast another spell, but just then,

Ozul turned all the needles near the Viscount into black smoke and willed it to enter into his body through his orifices!

The Viscount could only shake in fear when the black smoke entered his body.

Ozul turned the smoke into needles inside the Viscount and destroyed all of the Viscounts’ organs.

The Viscount died writhing in pain on the floor.

“I did not want to taint the Ball of Purity with your insides, but you forced my hand.”- Ozul’s voice sounded out in the now serene hall.
