Unsealing Emptiness

Chapter 262

Chapter 262: Teleport?

“...both of you come here. I want to test something,” Ozul motioned the two to come closer.

Raven and Blaze didn’t hesitate and moved forward, their eyes stared at the black cat resting on his lap.

Raven showed no signs of jealousy this time. Instead, her mind wandered back to her fight as she contemplated ways to improve herself. If she wanted to protect Ozul and repay him for all he has done for her, she needed strength.

Ozul actually wanted to test Jinx and not them. He spoke, “Try to touch her,” as he pointed towards Jinx.

It was about time that he learned more about this lazy cat who he found to be just as mysterious as his own body.

At the same time, Ozul looked straight into Jinx’s eyes, telling her to let them touch her.

Though surprisingly, it didn’t work. Both Raven and Blaze’s hands passed right through Jinx as if she was just some mirage!

.....

Raven and Blaze were both surprised as well. Although it had happened to Raven before, it was a feeling that one wouldn’t ever get used to.

Raven remembered that the first time it happened, he had told her that only something pure could touch Jinx. Ozul was thinking about the exact same thing in the past.

At that time, he had only instinctively spoken the first feeling that came into his mind. He didn’t know why he felt that, but he was at least aware that it wasn’t just a passing thought.

‘But why can I touch her then? I don’t exactly feel pure either...’ Ozul contemplated as he stared into Jinx’s eyes which seemed like an unsolved puzzle now. The only reason he could think of right now was how she was somehow related to him.

Just then, Ozul noticed Blaze using Mana.

He again extended his arm to reach Jinx, hoping that coating his hand with Mana would negate the effects of whatever Magical Spell was at play.

Unfortunately, his hope didn’t become reality as no matter how much Mana he used or how dense he made it, his hand would always pass through Jinx as if she was empty air. However, she was sitting on Ozul’s lap, so it didn’t make any sense at all!

Ozul was about to stop him as he didn’t want them to have a headache over this, but he stopped when he noticed Blaze creating a tiny shard of Ice and slowly extended it towards Jinx.

Though he stopped and looked at Ozul for confirmation, “Should I?”

He wouldn’t hurt Jinx, but he was going to test if the ice created with his Magical Spell would be able to come in contact with her body or not.

Only when Ozul nodded his head did Blaze continue to slowly move the tiny shard of Ice towards Jinx.

Sadly, even that effort turned out to be futile. Jinx seemed to be an illusion that was very much real, but still an illusion!

Seeing that it didn’t work. Ozul realized the reason why Jinx would appear unscathed even in the most dangerous situations. But that didn’t seem to be the only reason.

Although he had told her to let them touch her, he wasn’t certain if she listened to him or just ignored it.

Without wasting a second, he picked her up with his hands and turned to walk to the middle of the ground before placing her down on the ground. He was going to ask Blaze to attack her with a more Mana consuming Spell to test it one last time.

However, just as he had placed Jinx on the ground, his eyes went to his right arm which was only a prosthetic. A realization hit him as he paused on his spot.

‘... So you didn’t listen to me,’ Ozul said inside his head as he stared at Jinx with a deadpan face.

Even if he could somehow relate the fact that he could touch Jinx to the matter that his body was unique, he couldn’t explain why he was able to touch her with that prosthetic arm as well.

It could only mean that Jinx didn’t want anything else to touch her at all. He was the only exception! It wasn’t about what was pure and what was impure.

With this realization, he was sure that whatever Blaze and Raven used, it wouldn’t do anything to Jinx. The cat seemed to know what was going on, but she let things happen and lazily sat at the spot where Ozul had put her on.

The moment Ozul got out of the way, Blaze bombarded that spot with Ice pillars and Raven also gave in a hand. Alas, when the dust settled, their jaws dropped in surprise when they saw Jinx licking her paws, uncaring of what was going on around her.

Ozul sighed and picked up Jinx before going back to his seat. He held her in his arms and continued to stare at her for a couple of seconds.

‘What more secrets do you hold?’ Ozul mused to himself.

“You are a cat, right? What about your speed?” Ozul seemingly muttered to himself in the eyes of others, but he was actually talking to Jinx.

Usually, the cat type Magical Beasts were agile in their movements. However, he had never seen this feline run like that. She would always just calmly walk everywhere as if she was bored of this world.

Surprisingly, Jinx stood up as if answering his question and went back to that previous spot. She sat on all four and her face was held high, looking down on whatever stood before her.

Just like how Jinx would understand what Ozul was trying to say most of the time without even putting it into words, Ozul seemingly understood what she was trying to say this time as well.

Since Blaze’s ice would create a mess, he spoke to Raven, “Attack her.”

He could have also done that, but he didn’t want to risk hurting Jinx. As far as he knew, the Ball of Purity could also come in contact with her. If she didn’t manage to evade, she might lose her life.

Raven nodded her head. She was reluctant to attack Jinx previously because of how small and defenseless she looked. However, it was an undeniable fact now that this cat was anything but defenseless.

Without wasting her energy, Raven cast a simple spell that shot a couple of blades at Jinx.

Ozul’s question was quickly answered when Jinx, who was standing a couple of meters away from him suddenly appeared in his feet!

“!!!”

Both Raven and Blaze were alarmed as they didn’t even feel anything!

‘Heh... and here I thought you were only a little unique,’ Ozul thought as he played the scene again in his mind.

At one moment, he saw Raven cast a spell at Jinx and the other moment, she appeared here. Just like Raven and Blaze, he didn’t see anything either!

Those two were only Rank-8 Mages, but he was someone who could even go against Rank-10 Mages of this continent. Despite this, he wasn’t even able to catch her afterimage.

At this point, he was more likely to believe that she might have just teleported. That also might explain how she could appear at unexpected places without being seen by anyone.

When he looked down at her, he saw Jinx rubbing the side of her belly against his leg. He noticed the expectant gaze pierce him, so he didn’t have any other choice but to squat down and pat her a couple of times.

Blaze looked at Raven and shook his head while smiling wryly. She looked at Ozul patting Jinx with an envious expression on her face, wanting nothing more than to replace the cat.

However, she held herself back and quickly calmed down.

Ozul stood up and looked at the two, “Both of you don’t need to tell anyone about her.”

The duo immediately nodded their heads. If he didn’t want this to get out, they would just forget anything like this ever happened.

Although he doubted if anyone would ever be able to do any harm to Jinx, it was better safe than sorry. After all, he still didn’t know how powerful Old Gu was.

Maybe he wasn’t able to see Jinx move, but what about him?

Moreover, he still didn’t trust that old man. According to Kure, he did most of the things the way he did to entertain himself.

A person with such a personality could take a liking to anything rare. He didn’t have the confidence of being able to stop him if he went after Jinx.

Unknown to him, Old Gu had more interest in him than Jinx.

“Alright, let’s go. We are done here. It is time you guys experience wilderness,” Ozul spoke while heading out of the training grounds.

He first searched for Irvin, followed by the three creatures of unique characteristics.

After he found him, he went straight to the topic and informed him that they would be out of the Neutral City and would take some time to get back.

“Can I ask how long it might take, young master?” Irvin asked with a polite but concerned tone.

“Just take the Ashin family’s help if anything comes up. Don’t hesitate to demand anything. I might be out for a few months with these two,” Ozul answered.

He knew that Irvin didn’t think that it was proper for him to be absent from the organization during this time.

“Take care of things. Like usual, you are in charge,” Ozul said before tossing a single pendant at him out of his Spatial Pouch.

This specially designed token gave anyone who held it the authority to be able to order around anyone in the organization. Haley and Oliver had come up with this idea a while ago.

“Take care during the journey, young master,” Irvin said no more and bowed his head towards the departing figure of Ozul.
