Chapter 29 - Roommates?

The calmness of the sea was relaxing enough to soothe Ji Yao's mind. Ever since he was born he had never been this exhausted in his entire life. Having such a peaceful moment to himself seemed like a luxury and he intended on taking full advantage.

In his dream, he was sitting on a stool in a beautiful canola flower field that stretched for miles. In front of him was a canvas laid on an easel. As the bristles of his sable paintbrush stroked the canvas he felt a familiar sense of tranquillity. This was his happy place, his refuge when he didn't want to deal with the outside world.

Pulling back his sleeve he dipped the brush into sunny yellow paint but as the bristles touched the canvas he suddenly heard a familiar voice call out, "Gege!" making him accidentally stroke the brush across the canvas ruining his masterpiece.

Even in his dreams, this person had wiggled in just like how he wiggled into his life. Ji Yao clutched the brush in his hand tightly as he suppressed the urge to beat this person black and blue.

"Yao-ge, what's this?..... Gege is it a sunflower... Gege, why not paint me.... Yao-ge, I will make the perfect muse... I can even show a little skin if you like. Look....," said that annoying person as they lifted their robe exposing their ankles.

Ji Yao was like a kettle reaching its boiling point as he pressed his lips tightly repressing his anger. He was so pissed off that he broke the paintbrush into two as he clutched it tightly.

"Yao-ge, what do you think.... sexy, right? Now paint me.... Yao-ge... Yao-ge ... Yao-ge..."

It was Yao-ge this, Yao-ge that echoing in his mind till he snapped. He yelled Rui Fei's name in anger which crossed beyond the boundaries of his dreamland to the real world.

Sitting up straight on his bed with dishevelled hair and sweat streaming down his face, he glanced over to Rui Fei feeling upset.

Rui Fei, who had just heard his name called raised his head from under the quilt and asked, "What? You kicked me off the bed already so what else do you want? Kick me off the chaise?"

Ji Yao scratched his head as he replied, "You are fuckin lucky that I didn't kick you out to the deck," with his chin raised up arrogantly. Having said that he covered himself with the quilt and lay back down with his back towards Rui Fei.

As soon as Ji Yao turned his back towards him, Rui Fei grinned maliciously before closing his eyes to sleep. Mind you this was only day one of living together.

Now one might ask how did they go from Rui Fei pitifully standing in the middle of a bald patch of the forest to annoying Ji Yao even in his dreams? Or how did they even end up sharing a room in the first place?

Well, let's rewind twelve hours back. The three arrived in Xiehe in a matter of minutes with Ji Yao leading the way. He could hear his father enthusiastically chatting up Rui Fei but he chose to stay out of it. Surprisingly, Rui Fei was an excellent conversationalist engaging Ji Wen.

This Ji Wen especially liked because his son was like a statue half the time barely saying a word which was hard for a chatterbox like Ji Wen. His reputation outside Red Bane was that of a tyrannical ruthless and cold lord but within the confines of that ship and its crew, he was Twitter's direct descendant.

But the person he wanted to talk to the most was a great conversation killer so when he found that Rui Fei was talkative he let loose. What he didn't know was that Rui Fei was a multi-tasking genius with high adaptability.

So what does this mean? It means he would listen and respond with little effort though his brain was focused on something else. The entire time they were chatting Rui Fei's gaze was fixed on Ji Yao's straight back. From this distance, he could see an outline of Ji Yao's shoulder blades from underneath the fabric of the robe each time he moved either of his arms.

His eyes followed Ji Yao's silky black hair reflecting the sunlight giving him the urge to touch it. He honestly thought it would feel soft to the touch and it would smell good too but based on Ji Yao's character he wouldn't let him.

Heaving a slight sigh his gaze landed on the ends of Ji Yao's hair. Coincidentally the ends seemed to be a few inches from Ji Yao's waist which meant his eyes also accidentally checked that part of Ji Yao's body.

This honorary brother of his was powerful and could be labelled the best among his peers but he didn't look it. That narrow waist looked like it would break if he squeezed it a little not that he would try and prove his hypothesis.

He was curious but not curious enough to offend Ji Yao so he kept his hands to himself. Just as his gaze left that nice to look at waist, he heard Ji Wen ask, "Where are your siblings? How about you call them over so we can set sail."

Rui Fei was about to look around when those two idiots dashed over to him completely selling the three of them out. How could such a coincidence happen? Were the two conveniently waiting near Red Bane all this time because they knew their older brother would be coming this way?

This made Ji Wen a little suspicious but his suspicions were resolved when he heard Rui Li say, "Dage, we sensed you were coming this way. Are the bad guys gone?" with a pitiable tone while pouting her red lips.

Seeing this sorrowful appearance Ji Wen had nothing else to say. He turned to call Ji Yao but the boy was already on the deck looking like he was ready to shut himself in.

"Ah-Yao!" he called out causing all the Rui children to stare in his direction.

Ji Yao paused his steps and sighed before turning around to look at his father. It seemed his rebellious teenage phase wasn't over yet or at least that's what Ji Wen kept telling himself to feel better.

As soon as Ji Yao looked in their direction, Rui Li lost it. There atop a hill was a gorgeous angel with enchanting eyes that shone like a pearl among fish eyes. Okay, her inner monologue was terrible but her expression was that of a boy crazed fan at a K pop concert.

At this moment she would have undoubtedly sold her soul just to get a hug. 'I bet he smells nice too,' she thought with her eyes sparkling like gemstones. In a split second, she vanished from the spot she stood before leaving the two brothers stupefied.

She reappeared on the deck startling Ji Yao. "Wah! So handsome!"

Everyone, "...."
