Chapter 404 - The Pain Of Unrequited Love
Chapter 404 – The Pain Of Unrequited Love
Ji Yao was a little surprised to see her. He had indeed underestimated her will to live. But even if she had managed to survive that ordeal it had absolutely no effect on him whatsoever.
Xiaoyu who hadn't expected to see Ji Yao at least not here not now abruptly got up and vanished on the spot before reappearing behind Zhang Ci. She smashed his head on the table while twisting his right arm at his back. She pulled hard putting a strain in his joint as she said, "Who do you think you are talking to," her tone so menacing you could sense the killing intent oozing out of her body.
How could this insignificant ant speak such nonsense in front of Ji Yao? She still couldn't tolerate that. She had not only survived but united a group of criminals to serve her. Xiaoyu also owned two seized ships… well, one now that Ji Yao had blown up the other.
She had laid in wait aiming to expand her empire inland and when she was strong enough she would show her worth to Ji Yao and make him regret ever throwing her out of his crew. This plan was going so well and right on schedule but Ji Yao all of a sudden appeared in front of her.
Caught by surprise she really didn't know how to act. She had imagined countless times what she would say and how she would act on their first meeting after years of separation just like a broken-hearted person after their ex dumps them.
But right now she couldn't even remember the lines she had rehearsed countless times in her mind. Her head was blank and she could only think of attacking Zhang Ci. She suddenly heard a voice that had gotten even deeper and more enchanting than before say, "Let him go."
She found herself subconsciously letting go as a tingly sensation spread from her ear down her neck. She was now a boss with plenty of minions to serve her and didn't have to listen to this man but she couldn't help it.
Letting go of Zhang Ci she invited Ji Yao to sit. Her mind recalled the milky white elixir she had stored carefully and couldn't help but wonder if she took a bit of it now would she be able to steal a hug from Ji Yao.
Ji Yao didn't immediately move. Instead, it was Xiao Yùnqì who ran over under Big Hei's urging. The boy wiped down the seats and tables to perfection then stepped aside. Ji Yao walked over in slow strides and sat down in a posture that looked like he owned this place by default.
Instead of watching Ji Yao, she was watching this milky white dumpling scurrying away. When Xiao Yùnqì returned she also noticed another new fresh face she had never seen before. Her boring gaze was fixed on the pair her mind turning like undersea turbines during high tidal waves.
She couldn't see that face that had been the source of her nightmares for years but instead saw two young boys. Were they there to seduce Ji Yao. Was this what it was?
Seeing Ji Yao's impatience plastered on his face Xunshi Zhe urged Xiaoyu to sit down. Xiaoyu came back to herself and sat down opposite Ji Yao but her heart was still so unsettled so she said, "I see that you and Rui Fei didn't last."
Let's not blame her for not knowing the truth. No one knew that the day the Qilin nocru entered their world Ji Yao also lost someone very important to him. That's because the pirate king's son had been on that island and in isolation for years.
No one other than relevant people knew that Rui Fei wasn't in this world at the moment. Xiaoyu mentioning this touched Ji Yao's sore spot especially when she said it with her tone laced with a hint of gloating.
Ji Yao glared at her as he took off the weimao hat on his head. As the veil slipped away from that heaven-defying face her breath got caught in her chest. Gazing into those eyes she found that her heart that had long grown cold started to warm up again as her heartbeat accelerated. She found herself subconsciously reaching out to touch the hand that lay on the table but before she could even move a finger her hand was grasped.
Sitting beside her was Rui Pianzi with his hand draped around her waist. He playfully played with her fingers as he whispered, "Sorry honey I am late."
Xiaoyu wanted to jerk her hand out of Rui Pianzi's grasp and break his arm that was wrapping itself around her waist but before she could do that Rui Pianzi looked straight into her eyes as though reminding her of something. Previously Rui Pianzi had given her a detailed plan on how to get her crush's attention but she had brushed it off.
What was this plan one might ask? Well, it included six bullet points which are not limited to but include flirting with others and acting like you give zero fucks.
Now that Ji Yao had unexpectedly shown up it seemed he was implementing that stupid plan. The only problem was that this was more than flirting.
Feeling a little cocky Rui Pianzi turned to face Ji Yao and he immediately released her as he swore. "Fuck," he said before closing his mouth to shut himself up. Ji Yao arched his brow wondering what the hell was wrong with this idiot.
Oh, there was nothing wrong with him at all. It's just that he didn't expect to be met by such a good looking face. No wonder his brother fell head over heels. No wonder Ji Yao had to walk around with a veil obstructing his face. That's because those who aren't used to his face wouldn't listen to a word he says as they would be hypnotised by his charm.
Ji Yao was very calm but Xunshi Zhe wasn't in the slightest. He couldn't stand the disrespect so he nudged Big Hei and said, "Did, did he just say that to our captain?"
"He sure did….. It was very disrespectful," replied Big Hei as he took a step forward ready to throw the idiot out of the window. But Ji Yao raised his hand to stop them. On account that this was his future brother in law he said, "I think you understand what's happening now. I will give you an hour to pack up and leave. Oh… and I suggest you don't sail because the waters belong to the Concord. I am sure I don't have to explain to you why that is."
As he said this he looked at Xiaoyu who absolutely knew what he meant. There was no such thing as her territory at sea because the entire sea belonged to Ji Wen and his pirates.
Even the merchants couldn't sail without paying ever since the late Emperor had a hand in Ji Wen's disappearance.. Ji Yao made sure to remind them that they had no authority at sea by sinking the imperial fleet.
