Chapter 418: Did Wil become the favorite child of the Goddess of Luck?
Chapter 418: Did Wil become the favorite child of the Goddess of Luck?
Lucius and the Divine Dragon Velkazar appeared at the bottom of Mt. Velkazar.
"Your Grace, what is the important thing that you want to talk about?" Lucius asked her. He was curious about why she wanted to talk to him alone. Is there something that only he is supposed to know? He wondered.
The Divine Dragon opened her mouth, "Two things. First, I need to clear your confusion regarding your ascending to the throne despite choosing your friend over the throne."
Lucius was indeed curious about it. He listened to her intently.
The Divine Dragon continued, "At first, I wished for you to become a selfish king who prefers his people over righteousness. Whether it is right or wrong, I wanted you to stand by your people at all costs. So far, every King had chosen the throne over his Commander but ultimately, every one of them was consumed by the power.
You are the first one to choose differently. So, I wanted to see how different it would turn out in your rule.
And the second thing is that within a few moments, I will die and be reborn again. I want you to guard my egg for one year."
"Huh? What are you saying?" The new Dragon king's eyes were widened in shock and he stepped back. The death of the Divine Dragon isn't just simple shocking news but world-breaking news for him. Moreover, she also has a child?
The old woman let out a helpless smile and explained in detail to clear his misunderstanding, "it is a process we have to go through whenever the king is changed. The Dragon King and I share an invisible connection. The moment a Dragon King dies, my death will also be near. And then, my soul will leave this body and enter the egg, connecting with the New Dragon King. The process will go on endlessly.
Now, within a few moments, I will pass away. Climb the mountain and retrieve the egg from the cave. It will take one month for me to hatch and be reborn again. Then, another eleven months to regain my full powers. During that state, I will be in an extremely vulnerable state. Until that time, it is your responsibility to guard me. If by chance I die before I gain my powers, then, it will take a whole year to get resurrected again. So, make sure no one knows of this secret, even including your most trusted people. Before I leave, I will transfer a bit of power to you to increase your strength as well as unlock your bloodline."
"No wonder." Lucius finally realized why the Divine Dragon wanted to tell him alone. It was too much of a big secret. But the only thing he was worried about to keeping the secret from Wil.
A few moments later, Lucius was sitting cross-legged on a hill with the old woman placing her hand on his forehead. A tremendous amount of energy was flowing into him.
Back at the Imperial palace, Wil and others were waiting in the courtroom without knowing what they should do from now on. They could only look at Wil for the orders.
It was then Reuben opened his mouth, "Lord Time Traveler, the coronation is over. I hope you will abide by your promise."
Wil who was reading the forums in silence looked at him and replied, "No worries, Your daughter will be freed. But before that, make arrangements for them. They are also tired." He pointed at his faction members.
Remembering something important, he added, "Oh, and also, call for an assembly with the court officials. You know how the things run here more than I do. And take your sister along with you."
"Yes." Never in the world did Reuben expect that he would go from a crown prince to a slave in the end.
Taking a bow at him, everyone left for the guest rooms one after another while Wil remained in the courtroom.
After a while, Wil suddenly receives a notification.
*Ding! You received a quest.
Quest: Meet the Dragon King, Lucius Draconus (Mole)
Description: The Dragon King wishes to meet you. Please go to the King's chamber at the Imperial Palace and meet him.
Reward: 100 exp.
"Oh! So, he reappeared at his personal chamber, eh?" Wil thought that both of them would return to the courtroom. Wil accepted the quest and proceeded to walk towards the Imperial's Chamber with a temporary medallion in his hands to pass the security guards without using force. However, there was still a sour taste in his mouth, considering how the brat now is behaving like a king instead of coming to him personally.
Upon reaching the King's Chamber, Wil found Lucius alone sitting on a chair with a large egg placed beside him. He was taken a little bit, seeing the dragon wings. But, not for long as his attention was stolen by a six-foot egg that is changing colors every second. When he tried to inspect it, Wil almost lost his foot in balance.
Velkazar's Egg
Grade: Ancient
Description: The egg of an ancient grade Rainbow Dragon.
"An ancient grade egg?" A look of greed appeared in his eyes but he managed to hide it before Lucius notice his stare.
Wil shifted his eyes towards Lucius and said, "You are at level-500."
Lucius nodded and confirmed his words, "Yes, all thanks to the Divine Dragon." When he said that, he looked at the egg for a moment, which didn't go unnoticed.
"And that egg? Is it Velkazar's child?" Wil questioned him for clarification.
"No." Lucius shook his head, "it is the Divine Dragon herself."
"Eh?" Wil exclaimed in surprise. "How could that be possible?"
Lucius didn't hide anything and told him everything that the Divine Dragon told him. Because of maximum favorability, in the heart of this teenager, Wil holds the highest position, higher than even the Divine Dragon.
This new piece of information brought huge waves in Wil's head. For a moment, he couldn't comprehend it but then, he realized the opportunity appeared before him.
But what should he do? Should he kill Lucius and snatch the egg? But, what if the Divine Dragon ends up dead instead. According to Lucius, the Dragon King and the Divine Dragon are connected to each other.
Even if he can't covet the egg, he can still capture the entire Dragon Island, right? Without the Divine Dragon, the Dragon Island is nothing but a shell. Currently, at the moment, there's no one to go against him.
However, is it worth the risk? What if the Divine Dragon is lying to Lucius? In his opinion, a guardian with ascended or greater level always looks after a region. So, what if the Divine Dragon lied to Lucius to trap him?
Earlier, before they were teleported to the Imperial palace when the Divine Dragon is talking to Lucius, Wil heard her. His hearing ability wasn't blocked. If she could lie about this final test, then, can't she lie in this one too?
If such is the case and he bit the bait, Wil felt he might lose everything that he worked hard for. So, he refrained himself to go impulse and calmly said to Lucius, "then, it's better if you either carry it all time or you hide the egg in a place where no one can find it. Even if you are the Dragon King, you are still young, Lucius. There are many people in the court who would love to see your demise. You cannot trust anyone with this."
"I know." Lucius let out a sigh as he picked it up. He was feeling very pressured to just guard the egg at the moment. "That's why I need Mister to guard this. As far as I know, you are the strongest being under the Divine Dragon and the person I trust more than myself. I may have received power but I'm not sure when I fell into some scheme and lose the egg. And there's a whole kingdom I need to worry for. Another burden like this is too much. But, if it's Mister who will take up this task, then, I will be able to sleep peacefully without any worries."
*Ding! You received a Quest, Guard the Egg.
Description: The new Dragon King wishes you to guard the egg for a period of four weeks.
Reward: Favorability with the Dragons will be increased to maximum.
"You are giving it to me?" Wil felt like the luck goddess is favoring him too much. This is an ancient grade egg, not even a mythic grade. His hands almost shook in excitement as he touched it.
