Chapter 50 - ACCOMPANYING ELLENA TO SLEEP
Ellena lay down on the bed looking up at the ceiling. Tonight, she has a hard time closing her eyes. Keenan was the one that became the object of her mind at this time.
Finally, the universe reunited herself with her lover. God's destiny has become a patent that cannot be changed by anyone. If our destiny is red, then it will not be able to turn green. Same with Ellena. No matter how hard she avoided Keenan, fate still had a role to play.
She has mixed feelings tonight. On the one hand, she felt calm because she had been reunited with Keenan. At least, she had a chance to reveal what she had been hiding from him for so long. However, on the other hand she was also worried about Keenan's current condition.
How come? It was only a few hours ago that she saw the man's sad face and it was very painful for him. 'So, how is Keenan now? Is he still sad because of me?' she thought at the time.
"Keenan I'm sorry. I didn't mean to hurt you. It's just that circumstances forced me to do that and because of my weakness, I can't refuse or avoid something that will definitely hurt you," Ellena softly began to monologue.
"I've been trying hard to avoid you, but the universe brought us together by accident. I hope fate will also say the same, so that we can be reunited someday," she added later.
Ellena smiled faintly while still staring at the ceiling of her room. She believed that fate could never go wrong. If she is paired with Keenan, then God will bring them closer, and vice versa.
She was in that position for a long time, remembering every series of events that had just passed a few hours ago. Unknowingly, she repeatedly flashed a smile as she recalled all of it. In fact, it was not only the incident involving Keenan, but also the one between her and Lucas.
Lucas' demeanor caught her attention, even though she had previously been annoyed with the man. She didn't expect that Lucas could also be sweet and gentle with her. If only she could see the peace on Lucas' face every day, maybe her life would be very calm and far from all fear of that man.
Ellena smiled again when she remembered the look on Lucas' face when he was angry. Creepy, but when you think about it, it's pretty funny too. Especially if the man is angry because of a very trivial thing. Ah, Lucas' anger seems to have become Ellena's daily food.
"Lucas, you are really annoying, but I know you are actually a very good person. I believe you won't hurt me," whispered Ellena, smiling for the umpteenth time. In fact, this time the smile was even wider than before.
However, it didn't last long. Suddenly Ellena's smile faded again as she realized something. "Huh? Why am I suddenly thinking about him?" Ellena gaped for a moment while remembering who was the object of her mind at that time.
"Ah, Lucas is so rude, how could he enter my mind without permission!" Ellena grunted.
Ellena tried hard to get the memory of Lucas out of her mind. However, it still didn't work. In fact, she didn't know, since when she had thought of Lucas. Why is it now Lucas' face that fills her head, didn't she only think of Keenan from the start?
"Oh God! Please, don't let him poison my brain!" Ellena groaned as she covered her head with a pillow.
It was hard to forget Lucas' image. The more she tried to forget the man, the more she remembered him. All the scenes involving her and Lucas seemed to just play out, she couldn't prevent it. In fact, she also seemed to be able to hear every word Lucas said a few hours ago, when the man claimed to be her husband, as well as when he mocked and ridiculed her. Unfortunately, Lucas' words impressed her enough. Oh, how could that be? I don't know, she doesn't understand about that.
Ellena pressed the pillow against her head even more, as if to close her ears and eyes tightly. However, she still couldn't do that. In fact, the image of Lucas was more and more at home in her head.
"Lucas, can you get out of my mind!" shrieked Ellena looking frustrated. She then rolled over several times on the bed, until the sound of the cellphone woke her up and made her stop what she was doing.
She grabbed the phone from the nightstand. It looks like a whatsapp message was received. Ellena widened her eyes, then snorted harshly when she found out that the sender of the message was none other than Lucas.
"What is he doing, suddenly texting in the middle of the night? Is he not asleep yet?" Ellena grumbled while looking at the screen of the cellphone in her hand. With a bit of hesitation, she opened the message.
My Crazy Boss : Are you asleep?
Ellena put her phone back on the nightstand, after she read the message from Lucas. He didn't even want to reply to the message. Very weird! While he was trying to forget Lucas' image, the man suddenly contacted her.
"Why do you always annoy and annoy me, ha?" Ellena cursed while staring blankly at her cell phone.
She lay back down, intending to sleep soon. Perhaps by sleeping she would be able to forget Lucas's image, though she wasn't so sure.
Just as Ellena was about to pull the blanket and cover part of her body, suddenly the phone rang again. This time the phone ringing indicates that there is an incoming call. Ellena snorted again, annoyed. She then got up and grabbed the phone back.
"Lucas again. What is he going to do, to disturb me in the middle of the night!" Ellena couldn't stop grumbling when she found the name 'My Crazy Boss' on the screen of her cellphone.
Ellena looked confused, should she take the call from Lucas or just ignore it? However, if she didn't receive the call, Lucas would already know that she hadn't slept. She also regretted that she had read the WhatsApp message from Lucas, she should have just ignored it so that the man thought she was asleep.
Ellena looked down wearily. There seemed to be no other choice but to take the call. She immediately swiped the green icon on the phone screen, then put the phone to her ear.
"Why haven't you slept yet?" Lucas asked, before Ellena could say or greet him.
Ellena rolled her eyes, before she finally answered Lucas' question. "I was asleep, then woke up. Because I heard the ringing of the cellphone, my sleep was disturbed!" snapped Ellena in a tone that was clearly sarcastic.
"Are you lying?" It seemed Lucas didn't believe Ellena's words.
Ellena sighed in annoyance, it was really hard to lie to Lucas. "Why should I lie? What's the point of lying to you?" she said evasively.
"The proof is that your voice still sounds clear. In fact, it doesn't sound like someone who just woke up!" Lucas replied.
Ellena sighed again. "What's your business? Whether I'm asleep or not, I guess it's none of your business!" Ellena seemed to be pouting her lips.
"I'll sleep with you," Lucas whispered then.
"What do you mean? No!" Ellena refused, who was clearly already feeling tired of sleeping in the same room with Lucas.
"I don't like rejection!" Lucas said, raising his voice again.
"Go ahead if you can. I won't open my bedroom door." Ellena began to challenge, believing that Lucas wouldn't be able to get into her room.
"Go to sleep and don't turn off the phone." Lucas lowered his voice, causing Ellena to frown slightly.
Again, Ellena judged Lucas, whose attitude was so volatile.
"What do you mean?" Ellena asked as if she still didn't understand what Lucas was saying.
"Should I repeat what I said again?"
"It's not like that, but—"
"Go to sleep, it's late." Again Lucas asked Ellena to sleep. Meanwhile, Ellena was still confused, how could she sleep if the phone still hadn't been turned off? I don't know what Lucas meant.
Lucas seemed to know what was bothering Ellena tonight, so he decided to call her. Maybe he did it just to make sure his guess was right.
It was really very strange for Ellena. She was constantly amazed by Lucas' attitude which was clearly the complete opposite of before. Lucas is rude and likes to be angry, why is he suddenly turning sweet and caring?
"Okay, I'm going to sleep, but I'll turn off the phone." After thinking for a while, Ellena finally gave in, even though she didn't feel sleepy at all.
"No! I told you I would sleep with you," Lucas refused, still giggling. "If you dare argue with me, I assure you I'll be in your room in a minute!" then threatened.
Ellena was flabbergasted at feeling threatened. Lucas' words were enough to make her a little paranoid. After all Lucas is the owner of the house who must have a spare key to the room. It is possible that the man took advantage of these situations and conditions to carry out his actions. If that happens, that's the position where Ellena can't move and once again can only surrender.
'Why is he so stubborn? What's the good in accompanying you to sleep just by phone like this?' muttered Ellena in annoyance. She couldn't understand what Lucas was doing right now. Isn't that very strange? Yes, of course.
"I just need to make sure that you sleep tonight," Lucas said, suddenly waking Ellena from her daydream. "So go to sleep, Elle. After you sleep, I'll turn off the phone myself," he added later.
Ellena was stunned by Lucas' words this time. She couldn't believe that Lucas could be so romantic to her who wasn't even a nobody. Maybe to Lucas, she was just a woman who was willing to fight for money.
"Up to you. Do whatever you want, Lucas. I'm going to bed right now. Good night!"
Ellena slightly threw her phone to the side, then she changed her sleeping position from supine to side facing the phone.. Frightened by Lucas' threats, she was forced not to turn off the man's call.
