Chapter 26: Are you an immortal?
Chapter 26: Are you an immortal?
"Can you find me another Gyuarna? I think their horns could fetch rather a nice price in the market!"
No matter how naive Eve can be, she won't believe those words. My face is too happy and excited after the Bonger information to convince her that I just want to get some money. If I was in a dire need for money, just by crafting some weapons I could obtain as much gold as I wanted! Selling the beast artefacts couldn't even compare to the profit from providing armaments of such quality!
"Didn't you say that we are in only for a single monster? Shouldn't we leave right now, since you defeated it?"
In the end, despite the small bruises acquired after the wind explosions, killing this beast didn't pose any major problem. Even the Bonger's statements proved that this wasn't a normal gyurna, but a 'greater' one! If I cut it in half with all my might, dealing some major injuries would be still possible at a greater distance, especially if the next enemy would be a normal specimen!
"I remember stating that we will decide after looking at how the first fight would go. As you can see, the beast is dead and the only laughable injury that I have was caused by myself in the first place. What is there to worry about?"
Taking the number of experience points provided by a single gyurna, I couldn't let this golden opportunity go to waste!
"But you are still injured! If you can't manage the pray here in a perfect state, who knows what will happen when we go even deeper into the area?!"
Unable to rein her emotions anymore, Eve erupted. With her face red from agitation, she stressed out the main point of her anxiety. I was just a guest on the tour around the sect. She was responsible for me during the time that we are together, so she couldn't let me do anything that she considered dangerous!
"Okay then. What if I ask your sect master if I can join your sect? If I will be able to clear the monsters here with ease while having you as the witness, won't your master be a lot more likely to agree? This way, not only I would be able to enjoy myself here, we could get to know each other a lot better since we would be living in the same part of the sect!"
"Blop o.0"
"Charm ability levelled up!"
"Charm ability can now be upgraded into 'Poor charm'
"Cost of the upgrade is 100 attribute points"
"Insufficient funds to upgrade the charm ability"
";D"
This little With every new message appearing on my screen, this damn system is turning more and more annoying if not to say infuriating! Who could've known that simple emotes can deliver so many emotions and words in them!
"You say you want to live with me?"
Turning the topic to the most interesting part, Eve seemingly calmed down, with the redness on her face giving place for a shy blush as she hung her head down. Wait, is her clingy attitude an effect from the charm? My skills levelled up only when I was using them, and every time she acted bashfully, I got another level in it!
'Bonger, is her reaction caused by my charm ability?' Since the system turned into displaying the messages instead of shouting them to my ears, I think I can try to just think about the things that I want to convey to it instead of speaking them.
"Blop!"
"@_@"
"()"
Eh Even if my ability to understand it was better than it was in the past, I can't say I understand what Bonger's meant. At least I know I can communicate with it with my thoughts instead of my words!
"I don't see a reason to not strive for this! I never met such a graceful, attentive and lovely woman like you in my entire life. I won't shy away now only to regret it for the rest of my life!"
"Blop."
"Charm ability voluntarily evolved into 'Poor charm' "
"-.-"
HAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHA!
Who could've known that I didn't need to waste all those precious attribute points to upgrade my abilities! Serves you right Bonger! No more of my precious points will land in your greedy hands!
"Ugh I don't think we know each other for long enough to speak about living together yet After all, we met just yesterday!"
With a big smile suddenly popping up on my face, Eve collected herself as if alerted by this expression. Saying such promising words with a devious smile on one's face? The smell of fishiness was certain to reach the very border of the forest!
"And that's exactly why I want to stay here and keep challenging all sorts of monsters! I will be frank with you."
I take a deep breath and close my eyes for a second. When I pretend to calm myself down, I grab Eve's hands and continue.
"My paths to strength is a lot difrent than your everyday cultivation. It feels like fighting strong opponents allow me to regain the strength that I used to have, even if only a small bit of it. Since my real prowess will never show properly as a cultivator aura, I need to be far stronger than a normal cultivator on your level to be able to protect you from others suitors! You have to understand me! Meeting with you was like a fateful encounter for me! I will do everything in my strength to keep you by my side, even if it means participating in life or death fights!"
"Blop.."
"(|-.-|)"
"Poor charm ability levelled up!"
"Poor charm ability levelled up!"
"Are you serious? Does that mean that you really are an immortal?!"
Wow, that was unexpected! An immortal? Do you even believe in the legends about them? It's not like anyone caught even a glimpse of such a powerful figure! If they indeed were real, why didn't they rule the entire world?
"I don't know what you mean by me being an immortal. I just said that my cultivation path is unique, granting me a lot of power but forcing down my aura, putting me at a disadvantage in the classification process. If I can bring several corpses of the beasts that even you would be unable to defeat, I can prove my strength to the sect master and force her to approve me into the inner sect!
I always believed in chivalry. I want to be an expert on a white horse who will build stairs out of demonic beasts corpses that will lead me to your chambers! Please, help me fulfil this dream of mine!"
