Chapter 71: Noob Smasher!
Chapter 71: Noob Smasher!
Entering the room brings me a familiar feeling of comfort. With all the forges, bellows and anvils placed haphazardly around the area, I can already imagine what kind of actions will I take in what kind of order to make my desired weapon.
But first, I need to figure out an idea behind what I'm going to make. While windslord turned out to be a great masterpiece, I think that the naming should be the first step in this creative scenario of mine. If I can name something before I even start crafting it, I will be guided by the final idea along the way!
The problem is, how should I name an ordinary sword? It can't be too powerful, but it still needs to pack a punch. If I were to create a simple sword that would break during the first clash, I would be utterly fucked in the duel!
It's a pity my experiences from earth won't be of much help here. While I have the urge to create a legendary banhammer at some point, I will attempt it only when I'm confident in my smithing skills. What else can I make then?
Sitting down on one of the nearby chairs, I rub my eyes. I just arrived in the room but my creativity is already dried! Yeah, I know. First world problems. But if I just do a random blade without any greater point in mind, it will haunt me for the rest of my life! That's the life of a perfectionist!
How can I make a weapon that will smash this fucker to the bottom of despair? How should I call it? What kind of name will be abusive to my opponent in the first place?
Since I'm running out of time, I will just go with the first idea that popped up in my head when I thought about all the times I spent playing RPG"s and MOBA's.
Noob Smasher it will be!
I can already imagine the moment when I will yeet its dull side through Baxhar head! It's settled then.
With a final image of what I want to make in my head, I throw two ingots of iron into the forge. To this day I'm curious how do they manage to keep them always fired up and fueled. Is this some kind of special coal? Whatever. It's not like this kind of knowledge will change anything!
As the ingots start to slowly melt in the crucible, I take out some of the coals from the forge all the way in the back of the room. With just a few hits of my hammer, the black clomps are falling apart. But I need to turn it into the powder, so that iron can be turned into the steel even faster.
When the ingots finally turn liquid in the forge that I'm using, I add the black dust from my desk to it. With a sudden idea appearing up in my head, I start to circulate my energy. When a thin flow finally connects its ends, I place my hand over the melted metal and push the energy out of my palm. As my mana infuses into the liquid metal I can see some changes happening to it!
Like some saint appeared and touched it, the surface of the crucible content smoothens out as if the temperature wasn't high enough to melt it anymore! Wait, that's actually bullshit! If the coal isn't enough to do it, I need to work hard on bellows!
Without a moment of wait, I run towards the handle and start infusing fresh air into the burning coal. From the bouts of hot air, I can confirm that the temperature is indeed rising steeply, but the content in the forge is still calming down!
What the hell did I do wrong?!
I only infused the metal with my energy
Wait, so what will happen if I do the same with the flame itself?
Unable to hold myself after this sudden enlightenment, I attempt to enrich the coals and their flame with my own energy, but instead of the heat rising, I can feel it dropping down!
Fuck!
If I want to be able to use the iron, later on, I need to prevent it from solidifying!
This time, I'm not inputting my energy into the metal, but I start my external cultivation. As soon as it catches up with the internal flow, I extend it towards the crucible as if I wanted to include it in my external pathway!
In this exact moment, it's like something clicked.
The metal begins to melt again, while my energy is kind of mixing it? Maybe the flow of energy can affect the mana enriched ore? Well, it doesn't matter now. With my limited time, I can't risk playing around the raw material anymore!
Taking out a special form from the nearby cupboard, I grab the crucible with a special stick and pour the metal into the form. Now, I need to wait for a moment so that it can turn solid again.
After somewhere about five minutes, I smash the form with a small hammer present in the smithy. I've gotta say, this tool is really useful. Hammering the ore into shape, breaking the form, cracking someone's head open So many uses! When I will have some time, I need to craft one myself! If just a plain tool can be used to such wondrous effects, what if make one with my insane ability?
Turning my attention back to the blade revealing itself from the dust of the broken form, I can spot several flaws in an instant. Unable to be bothered by the heat that it still emanates, I place it down on the anvil and start my hammering routine.
In just a few moments, major structural flaws are fixed. While it still is nothing more than a mediocre piece of work, I believe it will suffice for the duel.
Forcing the blade into the handle, I raise the ready product into the air and stare at it with shame.
"I hereby name you a Noob Smasher!"
