Chapter 105: Let's Take a Look
The test hasn't finished yet, obviously. As Linfel projected, the obstacles on the way to the Space Station were hard to deal with, causing most of the Maguses and Familiars to end up falling from the Space Elevator and being rescued by the Gravity Ray from the planet's surface.
Thanks to that, many Level Three Familiars and Maguses saw a chance to still make it into the top 10% or the top 1000 for Magus-Familiar Duos. The test had a time limit, though. After all, even if there weren't enough Maguses and Familiars to fill the top 10% quota, it wasn't like they could wait several days as the remaining participants analyzed their situations slowly.
The time limit was 48 hours, and at the 41-hour mark, the Familiars finally filled the first 10% quota. At the moment the last Familiar of the top 10% entered the Stations, many rays of yellow light shot from the surface of the planet, catching the few remaining familiars who were still climbing the various elevators. They were all disqualified at once.
The second ones to fill their quota were the Magus-Familiar duos, reaching the 1000 number. It was to be expected since they could use both their Magic Energy Reserves together.
Maguses, as everyone knows, would take longer to finish climbing the Elevator. Yet, they still managed to fill the top 10% quota with just 32 minutes remaining to the end of the test. Linfel was quite surprised to see that since he thought there wouldn't be enough contestants remaining to do that. 'I guess I underestimated the overall strength of the Maguses and Familiars on this planet a little bit.
Well, that only makes things funnier.'
*Clap, clap, clap...*
Glien clapped his hands while using a little bit of Magic Energy to increase the sound. "Congratulations, everyone. Those here have completed the second test. First, all the Magus and Familiar duos, please follow my assistant here. Berold, go with them."
Berold quickly accepted the order. "Everyone, please follow me."
Milia and Nori looked at Linfel and Alvin. "We will see you later."
During the explanation of the second test, it was said that those who completed the second test in a Master Familiar Connection would be exempt from the third test, being sent to the fourth test straight away. That's because all Maguses and Familiars would rather take the tests together if there were no penalties.
However, because only the top 1000 of those duos would get to join the next test, the number of duos who took the test wasn't as big. Nonetheless, there were tens of thousands of them around the world, and only the top 1000 made it, Milia included. The rest got eliminated.
Alvin and Linfel already expected that and nodded back at Milia. However, before Berold left, Glien called his attention. "Just a moment." Right after, he approached Linfel and Alvin. "You two, you are also exempt from the third test. Follow Berold and wait with the others until the fourth test starts."
"What?!" Let alone Linfel and Alvin, all the other participants in the Space Station, were taken aback by the sudden event.
"That's ridiculous!" Someone immediately complained.
"Since when does the Ventis Sect change its rules that easily?"
"I also want to go to the fourth test!"
"Hey, I finished ahead of this Alvin guy, so I should also go to the fourth test straight away. First of all, he is only a Level Three Magus, so why is he exempt from it?!"
Those and more complaints continued to come. In fact, even Linfel complained. "We already took our tests separately because we wanted to take the third test, so sending us to the fourth one would actually work against our plans."
"ENOUGH!" Finally, Glien lost his patience. "This is my station, and these are my rules. I have the authority to give a free pass to whoever I fucking want to. If I feel like it, I can send them straight to the Ventis Sect, and none of you has anything to do with it! If you don't like it, there is a simple way to resolve this. You can simply give up the test.
Done! Easy, right? I'm not going to stop any of you."
Everyone went quiet. Who would give up at this stage? It's just that they had never heard about such things before. But then again, it wasn't like the Ventis Sect would go out there and make every single decision they made public for the rest. There were bound to be similar situations in the past.
Glien turned to Linfel. However, he didn't speak loudly, but used his magic Energy so only Linfel and Alvin could hear. 'As for your idea of taking part in the third test on purpose, there is no need. You two would easily pass the next test since it pretty much revolves around magic Energy Control. I saw you two during the climbing, so don't waste your time and just go.
Otherwise, I will simply disqualify you two here.'
Linfel and Alvin didn't expect that. Indeed, considering what they did and the fact they are partners, it was easy to tell both had far better Magic Energy Control than most. Since that was the case, Linfel accepted it begrudgingly, while Alvin felt happy instead. 'Alright, then we will go to the fourth test.'
As Linfel and Alvin walked out of the room, Alexandra watched the event unfold through the cameras. 'As expected of Glien, he has sharp eyes. Seems like I don't need to intervene myself.'
Alvin and Linfel then joined Milia and Nori and followed Berold to another room where they would wait. The fourth test would only start once after the third test was over.
Alvin looked around and could see the piercing eyes of most of the participants. 'Don't look at me! I'm not the one who did this... although I'm damn happy that I was given a free pass... hehe!'
Linfel didn't even notice, though... or perhaps he simply didn't care. "So sad... how can one have fun like this?"
Milia didn't know what to say, so Nori spoke for her. "Stop complaining. Everyone else would kill to have such an opportunity. If you are that curious about the third test, just check your MCOM and watch the live stream of the test."
"Oh! Right!" Linfel immediately focused on his MCOM inside his Spatial Storage. "Let's take a look."
