Wisp! Awaken in the Magical World

Chapter 138: Blow Off Some Steam

Linfel's group made a beeline back to Gertei City, only stopping to fight the Magic Beasts on the way. No other Maguses or Familiars tried to bar their way. Just as mentioned before, Killers were just too rare considering the issues of being one of them carried.

Back in the city, their room was still there, quite dusty after being empty for over a week. They didn't waste time and immediately paid for the electricity and water, which was one Ventis Credit per day.

From there, they divided their tasks, and everyone went out again. Milia and Nori went after clothes and other common house items... including the ones for her periods, of course. Milia was happy they returned when they did since it was only three days before her special days arrived.

Alvin and Linfel, on the other hand, went to the contractors to deliver the cores and other materials. They also took extra contracts regarding the extra materials they got from magic Beasts that were not part of their initial contracts.

They paid special attention to the Magic Core of the Gray Spiked Wolf, which was a Level Five Core. They were worth one Ventis Credit each. It made sense since you needed ten Level Four Cores for a single Credit, so the Wolf's one was worth ten times more.

However, Linfel and Alvin decided to not sell it in the end. A single Ventis Credit wouldn't make much of a chance for them at the moment. Besides, Linfel said the Core itself had a very high concentration of Magic Energy. It was even better than Brown Magic Energy Stones.

Normally, no one would be idiot enough to try to absorb the Magic Energy in a Magic Beast Core. The Magic Energy inside was completely different than the Magic Energy one absorbs from magic Stone or in the environment. It would pollute the Maguses and Familiars' Cores faster than any other source of Magic Energy.

However, that was not an issue for Linfel. He could get rid of all the impurities related to the Magic Beast. It's just that once he was done with the cleaning, not much Magic Energy remained. It was still a high level of Magic Energy, though. Simply put, it was worth keeping it if the Core was at least two Levels higher than Linfel's group.

Level Four ones were better to be sold off and then use the Ventis Credits to buy Brown Magic Stones instead.

The Spikes of the Gray Spiked Wolf were different. They were worth a Ventis Credit each, and Milia collected twenty of them together with the core. Those ones they had no use for, so they sold everything.

In the end, after all contracts and materials were exchanged, Linfel's group had a grand total of 943 Ventis Credits. Above all, they got the untradable Away Tokens, which were shared between the four members of the group. Linfel and the others ended with 13 Away Tokens each.

Following that, Alvin and Linfel went after the food and also clothes for Alvin. Alvin and Milia felt quite embarrassed as they walked around the city. The lightning sparks Linfel hit their buttocks with had created several holes there. And since they didn't have spares, they were literally using leaves to cover, which attracted quite some attention.

That's the reason Milia went to buy clothes for herself as her first task.

After buying food and other necessary items, the four of them returned to their room.

"Alright, we have everything necessary to live here for a while," Linfel started. "Not only that, we still have 712 Ventis Credits remaining."

Alvin sighed. "Food, everyday items, and especially clothes, they were truly expensive. We risked our lives several times, and over 200 Ventis Credits only bought us a single month of supplies."

Milia agreed with him, now wearing new clothes and feeling more relaxed. "The Ventis Sect truly intends to push you to the brink. Have you seen the streets? Everything is very advanced, all systems work perfectly, and yet..."

Alvin knew what she was talking about. As they walked through the city, they saw a few of the Maguses and Familiars who arrived with them in the Ventis Sect. They lived in the cheapest district at the moment, so it made sense those guys also came here. Yet, they didn't seem to even have a place to live.

It made sense. Alvin, Milia, Nori, and Linfel were considered a participant each during the Ventis Sect Exams. When they passed, they gained 10 Ventis Credits each, which were put together since they were friends. They could trust each other.

The other Maguses and Familiars were mostly single entities. Let's not forget the huge majority of Familiars are not independent. That's the norm. So, both the Familiar and its Master got just 10 Ventis Credits to be used by both of them. Even worse, after checking how the Ventis Sect worked, could they trust someone else like Linfel's group did?

Could they pass the Ventis Credits they had to someone else to get a room or something? That was a hard task to accomplish. Thus, a few were still on the streets even now. The streets had plenty of Maguses and Familiars in those conditions.

"There is no point feeling sad for the others," Linfel cut in. "Most of them are at Level Four or Level Five. What about us? We are only Level Three and we still managed to get ourselves together. If they can't find people to trust, that is not our problem. Instead, we have something else to focus on now; take a look."

Linfel pulled his MCOM, and the information regarding the next Magic Control test was shown to them. As explained when they arrived, there was one Magic Control test every two months. If you wanted to use Magic Energy for leveling again, you had to pass this test. Otherwise, you would need to wait two years.

And, by the end of two years, if you still didn't pass the test, you would not be a disciple anymore.

However, now that they had the conditions to take the test, the requirements took them by surprise.

"150 Ventis Credits for a change?!" Alvin exclaimed. "Holy shit! That's a robbery!"

Linfel shrugged. "Well, to be more specific, it costs 50 Ventis Credits for each level of the participants. So, Level Four Maguses and Familiars will need to pay 200 Ventis Credits to take the test. Our lower level played in our favor this time."

Milia narrowed her eyes. "However, because Linfel and Nori are independent Familiars, they need to pay for themselves. Well, I wouldn't change my mind regarding Nori's independence anyway."

Linfel smiled. "Alright, the test will start after tomorrow. However, Milia, Nori, I'll be honest, I find it very hard to believe you two will pass it." Then, Linfel showed the score necessary to be approved.

-Minimal Score: 800 Points-

Alvin felt nervous. "Linfel... Even I don't know if I can make 800 points."

Linfel nodded. "Yes, but you have a real chance after this last week in a half of training."

Milia looked at Linfel, sighing. "I understand it, Linfel. It is better if Nori and I don't take the test and save the 300 Ventis Credits. Otherwise, it will be a waste since we can't reach 800 points."

"Uh? What are you talking about?" Linfel asked back. "You are absolutely taking the test, idiot."

"Eh?" Nori and Milia didn't understand. "Why?"

"Isn't that obvious?" Linfel smiled. "Experience! Without taking it at least once, how will you prepare for the next time? 300 Ventis Credits will be very well spent even if you fail, and that includes Alvin."

Linfel closed his MCOM and sent it back into the Spatial Storage. "Well then. We just returned from our training, so I want you two to relax during the next two days. I read in the forums of your human race that sex is often a very good way to blow off some steam. Since you are in the same room, you should try it out. Oh, right!

We need to buy some contraceptives since a kid right now would be too much of a bother."

Alvin and Milia almost vomited blood. Not because Linfel gave them such an option. Instead, Linfel truly, from the bottom of his soul, believed that it was fine to just go to bed and have sex right there and then. "We... don't think it would be a very good idea..."

"Is that so?" Linfel took his MCOM out again. "Weird. The people in those forums seemed very confident about it."

Alvin put his hand on Linfel's MCOM. "Just don't look at those forums anymore, okay?"

"You sure?" Linfel felt there was some potential there. "What about these anal-"

"WE SAID FORGET IT!" Milia, Alvin, and Nori shouted at the same time.

"Fine, fine!" Linfel felt wronged. "And here I was, trying to help. Such a letdown."
