Wisp! Awaken in the Magical World

Chapter 156: Displays

Linfel looked behind, seeing the weird expressions on everyone's faces. "I know what you are thinking. There is no need to dwell on the true meaning of this test anymore. Take it as an apprenticeship. No power in existence will last without some kind of order or union. Dictatorship, Democracy, Union, whatever.

Something has to be there, always. Now you know that the Ventis Sect put a lot more thought into the upbringing of their new disciples than you expected. Make use of it."

Everyone nodded, a collective decision to stop dwelling on the choices that might have been made and focus on the present. Since it didn't happen, there was no way to know. Instead, Alvin quickly turned his head to the chest following that. "Let's take a look at the treasure."

Linfel approached with the others, and they opened the chest. As Linfel mentioned, there were some kind of electronic cards inside. However, even though there were many, the chest only allowed for one card to be taken for each participant. In the end, six silver-colored cards came out before the chest closed by itself and returned to the top of the room on its own.

*Tludum...*

As soon as the chest reached the highest point, the gate they used to enter this room opened on its own, allowing them to leave if they wished to.

"Alright... we got the cards. What now?" Milia couldn't help but ask, confused. She didn't know how to use the cards.

Linfel simply put the card away. "There is definitely something we can use them, but we can figure it out after we exit the Dungeon. For now, we need to make our way back."

Zandel didn't forget the issue, though. "Go back...? So we will need to go through the fifth level regardless?" The Fifth Level still had many Level Five enemies, after all.

However, it was then that they saw a platform appearing in the middle of the empty white room. As for stairs or anything like that, not a single one could be seen. "Errr... I guess we have to stop on it?"

They looked at each other and back at the platform. Without another choice, they went to the platform. For a moment, a silver light flashed brightly, forcing them to close their eyes. Even the Familiar's senses were disrupted there. When their sight finally returned, they found themselves inside another space.

"This..." The location was filled with many mannequins, each one wearing equipment. How could they not know what they were? "Magic Armors!"

They had seen a few back in the war in Heffal. The Level Four Maguses from their battalion could even use them to fly. However, such armor was ridiculously expensive. Even Milia, as a direct descendant of the Frondor Family, didn't have one.

Besides, it was widely known back in Heffal that only those at Level Four or higher could wear those Magic Armors and control them. But then again, it was hard to believe anyone at Level Two, Like Alvin's group was, would even have the money to buy one.

Alvin arrived in front of one of those displays. There was a transparent barrier separating him from the armor. When he touched the barrier, a small holographic message appeared.

- Price: 10 Silver Cards -

Alvin's mouth twitched. "Ten?! I got only one!"

Zandel and Milia also went to the other Magic Armors Displays and touched the energy barrier. Similar messages stating the prices appeared on each of them. Below, there was a description of what the armor was good for, what element was necessary, the level of Magic Control, the level of the Magus, etc.

Of course, there were prizes there for the Familiars as well. Familiars don't use armor since they often connect to their Masters and become a part of them during combat. Nori was Milia's Sword, and Kefin was Zandel's Bracelet. Linfel... well, Linfel couldn't change his core form, so Linfel was just Linfel, even connected.

Of course, there were exceptions: Familiars that fought alone. And for them, there were special types of equipment that interacted with their Magic Energy without the need to wear anything.

"Hum?" Linfel arrived in front of one of those displays and touched it.

- Omnidirectional Familiar Shields: One Silver Card per shield.-

Linfel got quite interested. If there was one thing he was bad at, it was definitely defense. Wisps had never been known for being highly resistant. If someone landed a direct hit on Linfel's Core, he was afraid he would truly break right there and then.

There were other options on display, although they weren't even a hundredth of the amount of offers displayed for Maguses.

"Milia, take this," Nori said as he passed his card to her.

Milia accepted without saying anything. Nori is her sword, and if she can get a Magic Armor, that will help both of them. Nori would always be her sword, so he even though he was an independent Familiar, he had no intention to change that.

Zandel and Kefin were the same. Kefin simply gave his card away. "I wonder if there isn't an armor here that can be bought with two cards only..."

Alvin then looked at Linfel, his eyes shining? See them? What about you? Will you give me your card?

Linfel nodded at him. "So you want to give me your card? Thank you. I can buy two shields with them."

Alvin almost vomited blood. "Like hell I will give it to you! I thought you were going to give me your own."

Linfel smiled in response. "I also want to buy a few things, you know? If you want more cards, you will have to fight for them."

Linfel then turned to the rest of his group. "Talking about cards, there are different colors. We have Silver Cards, but some of the displays require Golden Cards, while others only ask for Bronze Cards. Also..." Linfel pointed at the end of the room. There, a terminal could be found, and a message was already on display.

-Card Exchange Terminal-

-Ten Bronze Cards for One Silver Card-

-Ten Silver Cards for one Golden Card-

-Maguses and Familiars can also exchange higher-level cards for lower-level ones; the opposite rate applies.-

Alvin got excited. He could get ten Bronze Cards with his Silver one. "Where are the Bronze Armors?"

However, he soon found out there were no full armors being exchanged for Bronze Cards, only pieces. "Eh? Only pieces of the same armor? That's pretty much useless."

Milia pondered about her choices. In the end, there wasn't a single armor that could be bought for only two Silver Cards, so she decided to keep them. "Nori, I will try to get more before selecting one."

Nori didn't mind. "Sure. We can search the network later about how to acquire more of them."

Zandel reached the same conclusion. "I have no interest in pieces either, so I will keep them."

Alvin, without another choice, decided to do the same. "Well, at least this is a start."

Linfel commended their decisions. "That's the right choice, everyone. We didn't know about this before, but now we do. Let's go out and look for the next ones. Since these are Magic Armors from the Ventis Sect, and such hard requirements are necessary to acquire them, you can be sure the armors here are several levels above of what you could buy."

No one doubted that.

"Alright, let's go back!"
