Chapter 161: Everything Will Be Fine
Linfel's group didn't leave the city through the gate like the last time. Usually, Linfel would have everyone run and battle all the way to the Crystal Caves. However, because the next Magic Control Test would take place in just one month, they might run out of time. That's because the Crystal Cave was over five thousand kilometers away.
They went to the public airship transportation and paid the Ventis Credits fee. No one would believe Level Three would spend their Ventis Credits on these things, but Linfel's group definitely did. They got even more Ventis Credits after returning from the previous dungeon. Right now, their total amount was 1147, after paying for their seats in the airship. They could have even more, but they spent quite a bit here in the city before leaving.
If Linfel's group had made their way on foot, there would be quite a few Maguses and Familiars waiting to ambush them and take their cards away. However, trying anything inside the airships of the Ventis Sect was absolutely forbidden. After all, these airships were operated by various companies contracted by the Ventis Sect, so they were out of limits.
Sure, there were a few idiots who tried to do such a thing before, but without exception, their ending wasn't very good. Right now, no one even considered the idea anymore.
"Those guys must be pretty mad..." Alvin couldn't help but comment, looking down from the airship window.
"Not so much," Zandel shook his head. "They saw what kind of residence we lived in, right? They probably already considered the possibility that we would use public transportation. It's just that they can't do anything to us here."
"Linfel," Milia looked at the Wisp. "Is there a limit of level for the Crystal Caves as well?"
"Of course!" Linfel quickly nodded. "The Crystal Caves are forbidden to anyone at Level Six and above. I hardly think someone at that level would go there when they can take away missions, but it is good that the limit exists. After all, there are cases like ours, so some Level Six Maguses or Familiars might throw their pride away and come after us inside. With the limit, those people can't send anyone beyond Level Five while we are there."
Zandel was still nervous. "Level Five is still not something we should be able to deal with..."
Linfel faintly smiled but didn't say anything.
Time passed, and around an hour later, the airship landed at the entrance of the Crystal Caves. Hundreds of Maguses and Familiars came out, including Linfel's group. Linfel didn't waste time, spreading his Magic Sense around, covering everything in a 200-meter range. Right after, he talked directly into everyone's minds.
'Sure enough, they left some waiting for us. I can see four guys focused on our group, three Level Four and one Level Five. The Level Five guy seems to be alone, while those three at Level Four are acting as a group.'
None of Linfel's group expressions changed. Before even leaving their house, Linfel had a conversation with everyone. They must not act suspicious, so as to not hint out that they know they were being followed. With that, they all walked into the Crystal Cave's entrance.
The name Crystal Caves was indeed suiting. The entrance already had many crystals protruding out of the walls, and they shined lightly. From what Linfel read about this place, further down the Crystal Caves, you wouldn't even see dirt anymore. Everything would be covered in crystals.
Linfel's Magic Sense continued to observe their new 'friends' as they tried to hide. Normally, what they did would be enough, but not with Linfel there. 'They don't seem to want to act right at the entrance, which makes sense since there are plenty of Maguses and Familiars passing by. They will wait until there aren't many experts or when we get alone.'
Zandel immediately commented, using his Magic Energy to make sure only Linfel and the others heard his voice. 'Then let's keep in the main routes. Should be safer.'
Linel completely ignored him, though. 'Alright, on the count of three, we will all run to the cave passage on the right. That's the path to the least used routes of the crystal caves. Let's try to end these things fast. One, two, three!'
Zandel wanted to cry. End things fast? How? Was Linfel trying to die faster, perhaps? Too bad Zandel's best chance was still to stick with Linfel's group, so he also shot forward, trying to keep up with Linfel and the others.
As one could imagine, the Level Five Magus and the other Level Four Magus/Familiar group noticed that straight away and followed.
As one of the least used paths, it didn't take long for the number of Maguses and Familiars to reduce. This place was considered a labyrinth, but Linfel made sure to buy a map of the area. This dungeon didn't have floors like the previous one. It was all about deepness. All caves headed down, although in different directions. Linfel's map was enough to not get lost up to fifty kilometers. As for how far the Crystal Cave went, that information he wasn't able to find.
Just like the Fucoes Dungeon, it seemed like information regarding the furthest parts was controlled. Let's not forget that Zandel told Linfel's group that no one had ever made it to the sixth floor of the Fucoes Dungeon. Yet, they found out back there that actually a lot of people had got there. They just couldn't mention it outside, or they would be punished. The same went for Linfel's group, so they never told anyone about the sixth floor and what you could find there.
"Linfel," Alvin asked as they kept running. "What about the Magic Beasts? Is that really okay to continue running like this?"
Linfel nodded. "It is fine. The main issue of the Crystal Caves is to find your way further down. Look around; everything looks the same, right? This place is more about not getting lost than fighting Magic Beasts... or at least that's the case at the start. There are pretty much no Magic Beasts in the first 30 or so kilometers. Beyond that, we might find one or two. It's only after fifty kilometers that I'm not sure about what we can find."
Zandel kept glancing back, waiting for the moment their enemies would reveal themselves and attack his group. "What's the plan? Just wait for them to come?"
Linfel nodded, and a faint smile appeared on his face. "Yeap, just wait. Keep running nonstop. That's all you need to do. As long as you do that, everything will be fine."
