Chapter 136
136 Array Activation
The mechanism of the black mud on the gods was that any divine gifts or will that attempted to descend from the astral realm would be distorted by the enormous evil and malice contained in the black mud ensuring both the recipient and provider would be damaged, for the gods although the damage was painful it was not immediately fatal, but for the recipient the enormous distortion brought by the enormous amount of malice would cause them to lose their minds becoming uncontrollable monsters.
At least that was the ideal situation but due to different uncontrollable factors, the present situation was that the degree of damage caused by the black mud for both the deities and priests depended on basically the influence of their action on the world if their influence was minimal and coincided with the general trend of the will of the world the damage would be minimal, but if otherwise then even the most powerful of deities were at the risk of falling.
As deities although out of favour with the will of the world they were able to calculate and subtly influence the will of the plane and naturally they knew and subtly directed the dilemma that the world was facing right now which was the stagnation of the plane, a lot of professions and knowledge had been born legends reawakened and various powerhouses already on the verge of becoming deities but because of the existence of the black mud and restriction of the deities they couldn’t go further, and this was creating a lot of dissatisfaction and if care was not taken a lot of drastic measures would be taken by the dissatisfied populace and so this plan was arranged, a way for the knowledge and authority the deities held to be reintroduced back into the world without much conflict and interference from the black mud.
Feeling the call of the array on the main plane they collectively sent down most of their divinity and laws towards the target of course, not all deities were happy and some did not want to follow the plan but under the iron fist of the rest of the deities, they could only grit their teeth and succumb to the collective will of their peers.
The mixed and contaminated divinity flashed through space and immediately tore through Nicholas’s feeble defence, his talent was of no help in blocking the infusion the divinity contaminated with black mud scoured his body and soon headed for his soul, the murky but colourful energy breaking and reforming his soul, the enormous energy acting on all parts of his being keeping him alive and in immense immeasurable pain, no matter how he tried he couldn’t lose consciousness, Nicholas was unaware of when his screams had even stopped as the enormous pain had already paralyzed his nerves and clouded his will, the profound information contained in the threads of energy smashing his reason into nothing but bits of chaotic murmurs and flashes of various images that both seemed to be both ancient history and the possible future.
Sometime between the next second and what Nicholas felt like was a thousand years a black round ball suddenly appeared hitting the ground, its appearance gave Nicholas a brief millisecond of clarity and the phenomenon that occurred when it hit the ground and disintegrated elongated that otherwise brief moment
Numerous missing memories suddenly surfaced, and he instantly recognized his situation, he was in dire straits to say the least, the object that had suddenly appeared was the backhand he left for himself entrusting a friend to deliver it at the right time
A few years ago by chance he and his companion had been opportune to get a glimpse of the possible but certain future by virtue of their combined talents and unreproducible coincidence, although the situation he found himself in exceeded his prediction and calculation Nicholas was not too worried it wasn’t that he believed too much in prophecy but he was extremely confident in his calculation’s after several trials Nicholas was painfully aware that unless he died he would eventually be subject to a similar scene such as this, after all he was already aware that his talent was the key to breaking the hold of the black mud on deities and ensuring the possibility of advancement of various powerhouses, so no matter how he hid he would eventually be found.
These thoughts just quickly flashed through his mind and he began to focus on the way to get through this ordeal. A genius like Nicholas hadn’t advanced and was still a student profession because of certain restrictions his talent brought him, his spiritual power seemed to be locked by the magnetic field of his body and soul, he could try to forcefully advance only depending on his body and talent but the maximum he would be able to become was an elite, his instinct and findings over the years had led him to one conclusion which was that he needed to bypass his restriction.
.....
Having tried over and over again to bypass the restriction of his talent to advance and try to excite his spiritual power, he found it all for nought, the only hope he found for advancement and progress was based on the illusory concept of will, because of the condition of his talent he was aware that in order for anyone to use him to bypass the black mud they needed to break through the barrier of his talent which seemed to be inscribed in his soul so no matter the situation he found himself in, it was a given fact that his soul would be damaged and it was based on this that he had spent countless nights to deduce a way to contact and master his will, feeling the tattered state of his soul and his rapidly dwindling consciousness Nicholas wasted no time and began the process.
Doing his utmost he gathered the instincts of the excited and divinity saturated cells all over his body that faintly felt the looming threat of death and gathered those faint indistinct calls into one and forcing them into his piecemeal of a soul to faintly form a solid but illusory structure coupled with the miraculous nature of the divinity and black mud flooding, destroying and mutating his body and soul , the faint calls formed together a vague conceptual will of survival, although albeit this phenomenon was likely nothing but a short-lived burst that gathered all the potential of his soul into an illusory conceptual force it was enough, using the control and power granted by this will his cellular structure was immediately modified and controlled by him a feat he was unable to do normally, the cellular composition of his body undergoing structural renovations to form a faint and indistinct structural array that echoed his talent and ensured his biomagnetic field encapsulated his will and made it his core, ensuring it never dissipate.
