Chapter 142
142 False skin
Sandro had already noticed he was being watched, the various hidden machinery in the atmosphere did not hide from his perception, he was also very aware that once he had been found various other forces using more sophisticated means would follow his trail but he wasn’t worried about this in fact he knew as he got closer to his destination it would be pointless to try and hide from everyone’s gaze after all there were a lot of people paying attention to those areas.
Taking his mind of the thought of the countless voyeurs spying on the area he continued to waltz through various eroded areas, he wasn’t worried about being disturbed by the various monsters on the way, as a necromancer he was confident in his ability to blind their perception of him, the numerous monsters roaming around perceived him to be a dead object just like the air or a stone and so they naturally ignored him as he walked leisurely through the environment.
Although he walked leisurely his speed was not slow at all and within a few moments the wasteland and apocalyptic like scenery suddenly faded as he arrived at his destination, the city that also doubled as an erosion realm which housed countless mortals and was the base and church for one of the deities that had escaped back into the material realm. Lightly stepping into the land of the gods that also served as a domain and god kingdom, the necromancer headed straight towards the temple that was in the core of the city, he took no second glance at the glamourous golden city filled with countless brilliance and numerous humans who had become gorgeous, distinct from mortality and close to what one might call perfection as a result of the erosion they had undergone or like the religious folk liked to call it ‘baptism’. The citizens turned a blind eye to him likewise the guards of the temple who possessed strength of legends albeit without their own personal domains as after becoming believers voluntarily or involuntarily they were nothing but mere extensions of the deities will and so their domains were only borrowed and sourced from the god kingdom they currently resided.
Gazing at the huge giant like guards that guarded the gorgeous temple doors Sandro simply admired the deity’s accomplishment in biological modification, it was obvious from their structure that they were a form of mad believers their huge form was not a mere whim of the owner of the god kingdom instead it was an ingenious tool that housed the various impurities that existed as result of faith, a famous saying in the multiverse is “faith is poisonous.” Most faith based deities in this plane only developed a way to simply suppress the negative effect on their person or they ignore it all together but judging from what was in front of him due to the fact that the deities had been pulled from their throne losing their divinity and priesthood they had noticed the issue that had been previously ignored and were well on their way to developing a prototype to deal with this shortcoming. Removing his gaze from the humanoids guarding the door Sandro simply twitched his fingers causing a slight fluctuation ensuring the guards would be in the state of false death for a moment, creating enough time for him to enter the temple without any trouble.
Stepping into its gorgeous facade Sandro gaze leisurely wandered around the spectacle that was the temple, carvings of various exploits of the owners life was on display on the wall along with several intricate carvings and statue that seemed to be part of an intricate system of magical arrays, below the surface Sandro could feel the massive amounts of faith that pulsed through the walls connecting to the throne at the far end on which was seated a vague figure that was covered in light, although the present deities couldn’t easily transform and use the power faith as they were just saint losing the bulk of their divinity, the power of faith was still useful in maintaining the god kingdom perpetually and controlling the impact the realm had on the citizens who dwelled and lived in it which was an arduous and draining task.
Sandro felt the weight of the gaze coming from the figure on the magnificent throne, the mere state of the figure gazing at him was amplified multiple times by virtue of the subtle arrangements of the various strictures in the temple and the abundant flow of faith that was in the environment. Sandro looked back at the figure covered in countless brilliance, his red colored pupils went past the luminous glow and his gaze rested directly on the blond gorgeous figure that rested leisurely on the throne, his bland and indifferent face did nothing to dull his beauty instead it gave the figure a distinct and special temperament.
“I thought of various places you could hide and kept on looking one by one but I never thought you could silently replace gladius the lord of glory and brilliance, I must admit if it wasn’t for the fact that I had encountered something similar I wouldn’t realize he was really dead. I’m curious when exactly was the switch made?” Sandro stated with admiration evident in his tone breaking the silent and tense atmosphere of the temple. The figure on the throne said nothing instead the pressure in the temple increased the countless rays of light in the building seemed to gain countless weight and the spatial structure of the surroundings targeted Sandro.
The changes in the surrounding did not faze Sandro after all he was also a figure at the top of the present power structure of the plane which was the so called star realm, only creatures that had reached the limit of legendary contained rudimentary rules and could easily cause permanent changes in the environment just by displaying their domains were able to be described as having reached the star realm. The stalemate continued for a few seconds before it stopped and then with a sigh of resignation seemingly realizing it was pointless to continue hiding, “I don’t think that really matters now does it?” Once those words were spoken the male figure exuding terrifying coercion on the throne stood up, the countless brilliance that covered him suddenly made way revealing the blond male figure hidden by it but the next second on the male figure’s skin numerous runes appeared and then like a piece of clothing being removed the luminous skin of gladius fell to the floor revealing a female figure clad in a fitting combat uniform but covered with a dark cloak.
