Chapter 62: [System abuse]

"Just open you eyes, for fuck's sake."

Mori's patience was at a limit, but as he kept complaining she eventually hit it by chance.

The skeleton dropped kindle, and bone dust.

"I'll take the bone dust," said Mori.

"Sure, I don't even know what it's good for."

[Level up!]

"Oh, I leveled up," said Aleesia.

"Same, apparently."

He opened his profile.

[Memento Mori] [Level 3]

[Class: Cursed Sovereign]

[Cursed Path: Fateweaver 1879892/2,216,838]

[Health points: 15/15]

[Cursed Energy: 0/1477892]

[Magic: 30]

[Strength: 9]

[Defense: 6]

[Agility: 3]

If I could harvest hexes while waiting for the next room to open, it would at least be worth my time.

"Do we wait for the next room?" asked Aleesia who was done looking at her own profile.

"No, I'm done with this floor. I'm moving on to the next level."

She stressfully played with her hair, a trait Mori noticed came around often.

"Let's just leave for now," he said.

He opened the [Dungeon] window and pressed [0-0]. As he disappeared, he could hear her starting a sentence but couldn't make what she was trying to say.

It was that feeling of finally being home, weirdly enough, despite the room being empty, it wasn't such a bad feeling.

The dark tiles wouldn't be what he went for, and there were no decorations, but it was his room, after all.

Not his ex's room, not his mother's basement, truly his.

There were some things he could've bought in the shop to make it more comfortable, but comfort wasn't important for now.

Every single kindle he had needed to be spent wisely.

He walked through the passageway, going to the Unkindled's room, which had the cooking pot and Recycler.

Welcome back.

"Nice surprise you had for me," said Mori.

I wasn't offered food in a long time, this was my thanks to you.

For the potato?

Yes, but I won't influence your progress any further.

Mori headed toward the recycler, dropping in the bone dust he had, and most of his torches.

He sat next to the recycler, in thought.

Are you not going to invite her here? Or answer her invite?

Mori sighed, it was bothering him.

[Aleesia invited you to her room.]

Mori was ignoring it, focusing on what he wanted to do now that he had more capital.

The chest reopened.

Mori bought 5 swords for 50 kindle, instantly dropping them right into recycler.

After a moment, it reopened again, he then bought another set of 5 swords, and dropping them in the chest.

Already?

Mori opened the shop again, ready to buy another set of 5 swords, but the shop already showed the new tier was unlocked.

The content that was outlined when selecting [Tier 2] was rare.

Mori chuckled, then went back to rotating through swords for 50 kindle into the recycler.

The unkindled got up, stretching but ultimately laid back down near its flame.

I guess it doesn't care that I'm rotating items through the recycler.

[Aleesia invited you to her room.]

[Aleesia invited you to her room.]

[Aleesia is requesting an invite to your room.]

[Aleesia is requesting an invite to your room.]

[...]

Is she that hopeless?

Mori sighed, capitulating. He wanted to enjoy calm and quiet, but that only lasted a brief moment.

He could hear her footsteps coming from the end of the passageway, the room in which she must've arrived.

"It's pretty dark over there," she said loudly, making her way toward the room with the Unkindled in it.

"I've removed all the torches."

"Yeah... I can see that."

She finally appeared, slowly walking while holding her hand to the wall on her right.

"It looks a lot like my room... but you have the cooking thingie, and a chest... how did you get them?" she asked.

"Bought one, and dropped the other."

"Oh, and why is the Unkindled here, now?"

There's a version of me in every room occupied by someone.

"Why did you set up your things in this room?" asked Aleesia. "Isn't the constant mind reading bothering you?"

"I don't mind it."

"It sure bothered me, at least. Truly annoying, no offense, kitty. What are you doing?" she asked.

"Rotating through items."

"Rotating? What do you mean?"

"I dropped a recycler, on the first floor. It allows me to break items for kindle."

"What?! That sounds extremely useful! What are the odds of dropping a recycler?"

"I don't know. Most likely low, seeing how useful it is."

It's quite rare, yes.

"There you have it," said Mori.

Aleesia approached and sat next to Mori.

"So you'll just keep buying swords and breaking them? What's the point? You'll never end up with more kindle."

"Buying things in the shop eventually levels up the shop."

"Ah, right... but aren't the prices higher in higher tiers? What's the point?"

"Knowing what's in the higher tiers will help plan, simply."

The third tier seems to take a while, probably won't waste time trying to unlock the fourth one for now.

"So what do we do now?" she asked.

"We keep going, our separate ways."

"Can't we try finding each other in one of those levels?" she asked.

"We'd waste too much time, also I think you can handle yourself just fine."

"Yeah, true... Wait, really?"

Mori rolled his eyes, as he kept rotating swords into kindle.

"Yeah, really."

Ah, finally, the next tier.

"Here," said Mori.

Mori went to the weapon section, selecting a [Common Bow], a [Quiver] and [Arrows x10].

He was annoyed by the fact that they were all sold separately.

Once bought, he threw them in front of Aleesia, who had sparkles in her eyes.

"A bow! Thank you so much! They were so expensive, I thought I'd need to go back to [0-1-S] for days..."

"It's not free," quickly cut Mori.

"What? I have nothing to offer..."

"Give me anything you won't need, that you drop. Weapons, resources... Anything you won't use, and I'll use the recycler to break them into Kindle. If you do a good job, I'll even feed you."

Aleesia's eyebrows raised with her lips, forming a wide smile.

"Nice! This kind of teamwork is exactly what we'll need to get out of here!!!"

Teamwork? You're essentially my employee...
