Chapter 253 General Zombie

"You seem to the be the leader of this pathetic resistance here." The zombie said, not even batting an eyelid at what Jake said.

"Well, I guess you heaven defiers seem to think that just because you are immortal, you can actually match up against His Majesty." He chuckled, shaking his head.

"His Majesty? They have a leader? That is good to know. As long as this king of theirs is dead, then we will win the fight. But just how strong is the king going to be?" Jake wondered as he kept his eyes glued on the zombie.

"Do not worry, heaven defier. I have no interest in sneaking on you. That is beneath me." The zombie laughed.

"And yet, your underlings do not hesitate to attack me." Jake said as he moved to the right, avoiding a strike from a sword that came from one of the zombies that were rushing past him.

"That is not my fault. They do not listen to me all the time. Especially if they have fresh meat in front of them. It is not everyday that we see fresh meat in such abundance in these lands." The zombie said, shaking his head.

Jake shook his head, shuddering at the image that popped in his head, of these zombies tearing at his own body, eating his flesh.

"Just who is your king? Who is your leader?" Jake asked.

"You do not need to know. You will never meet him, after all." The zombie leader shook his head.

"I don't need to know? Well, I think you don't seem to understand. Sooner or later, that king of yours is going to fall. That is inevitable. This resistance that you are mounting up, it might be able to push us back a little, but how long do you think you can actually push us back? A day? Two?"

"At the end of the day, we will manage to defeat this small army of yours. We will move forward. And we will never die. Those who closed their eyes, they will all rise up in just mere minutes to go against you." Jake said, smiling.

"If that is your confidence, then I am truly disappointed. And to think that the leader of this giant army is just as disappointing as the rest of the ones that came this way. Every single leader, so disappointingly weak." The zombie leader shook his head.

"It seems like the strongest doesn't become the leader anymore. And it looks like the strongest are also way too weak." He chuckled.

"Instead of talking, you can come at me. Why keep talking? Or are you afraid?" Jake raised his eyebrows.

It felt like this zombie was stalling for something, or rather, someone, and that was concerning.

But he didn't want to make the first move. Not against someone as fast as this zombie leader here. Just looking at him, Jake knew he had to be careful.

And all of this trash talking was making him doubt his judgement of the zombie leader.

Perhaps he was actually stronger than Jake.

"No worries. I fought people who were much, much stronger than I was." Jake reminded himself, taking a deep breath.

He gripped the sword in his hands tight as he got into stance, readying himself for the zombie.

"Come. Don't stall anymore. Or do you even intend to fight?" Jake said.

"Fine. You just want to hasten your death." The zombie leader shook his head and sighed.

The zombie then held his rusty sword, twirling it with his gray wrists. They didn't seem as weak as the tendons of the other zombies.

He perhaps wouldn't have the same weaknesses that the other zombies showed. That was not a good sign. That meant that Jake had to be even more careful.

The zombie leader bent forward, and then, Jake saw the brown flash that he saw a few minutes ago rushing at him.

Jake hastily raised his sword, exactly where he expected the sword to come crashing down at him.

But at the last minute, his face changed and he bent to the side, raising his sword with his wrists in an awkward angle, using his second hand to support his wrist.

Clang!

With his sword being held in an awkward angle like that, it didn't take much force for the attack to propelll the sword out of Jake's hand.

"How the hell did he move like that?" That was the only thought in Jake's mind. He could clearly see the sword coming at his chest, until it wasn't.

In the last minute, it suddenly moved, aimed at Jake's head.

Luckily, Jake saw this, and he gave up his sword to defend that attack, moving at the last minute. Still, his wrists pained, and he was swordless.

"You defended that. I did not expect that. Perhaps I should have credited for a little more than what I did. Perhaps you are interesting after all. But look at your hands. One attack later, you no longer have your sword." The zombie said, shaking his head.

"In one attack, I got you defenseless. Now, do you understand why you are absolutely worthless in my eyes?" The zombie said as he rushed toward Jake.

Seeing the enemy come at him, Jake rushed back. He rushed back as fast as he could, not even looking at the swarms of zombies that he was pushing back to get away from the zombie leader.

He could see the brown flash inch closer, with Jake literally making a path for him to zip forward.

"Come on. Where is it?" Jake muttered.

He looked at the edge of his eyes for a split second, and then, smiled.

[Sword of Misery is an item that cannot be dropped. Sensing that it is no longer with the user. Returning to user's hands.]
