Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.482 SC: Unika’s S-rank tame

CH.482 SC: Unika’s S-rank tame

[Unika POV, naturally]

“Hey Brian. There is a call for A-rank adventurers in a remote location. Can we clear the quest?” I asked Brian after I spotted a call for higher ranking adventurers on the guild communicator.

Nowadays, I often follow the emergency calls on the guild communicator, and pick quests that are good. Most of the time, they are B or A-rank. And while we, Einar, Eline and myself, are allowed to take B-rank quests, as we are B-rank, we aren’t actually allowed to take on A-rank quests without Brian, Alice, Lua, Ria or Agunan.

“Sorry Unika, but I’m busy with enchanting stuff. I’m just starting to get the hang of this, so I can’t come with you this time.” Brian answered.

I looked at the piles of broken dragon scales, as well as the other equipment Brian had destroyed in his quest for dragon scale armor, and sighed. I think any normal person would have given up and just asked the Supreme Dragon to do it for him, but I suppose Brian isn’t normal.

“Alright. I’ll ask one of the others.” I told him, before I went and talked to the others.

Lua was naturally busy, she always is these days. Between learning Holy Magic and teaching the dhampirs, she doesn’t have the time unless it is an emergency.

Ria was also gone, acting as a bodyguard for Lawrence, as the merchant had some expensive items with him on his outing.

And sadly Agunan won’t listen to me, unless Brian commands him to. I do somewhat understand why, he is a dragon, and Brian does go on about how might makes right in the dragon culture. I am nothing compared to the fire dragon, so he won’t do as I ask.

So that just leaves Alice, but lucky for us, she does generally agree to go with us. She doesn’t want us to feel like we can’t go out, so if we need an escort, she usually agrees.

Usually. This time is slightly different.

“Sorry, but I’m a bit busy with something, so you can only have half of me.” She answered.

She then brought something out of Storage, which I still don’t really get why Alice can use Brian’s skill, as they never really explained it. It looked similar to the avatar dolls Brian’s monsters use, but this one looked like an almost perfect replica of Alice herself.

She then placed her palms on the palms of the doll, and after a bit, the doll opened its eyes.

The doll’s eyes were bright green, and as I looked back at Alice, I realized that her heterochromic eyes were now both bright blue, when usually only one of them was blue, while the other was a green similar to the eyes the doll now has.

“I’ll come with you.” The doll spoke up, and it honestly spooked me a bit. I had heard Alice was practicing placing a part of her soul into a doll like this, but this was the first time I saw it.

“... alright, Alice.”

“Please call me Mana.”

“... okay, Mana?”

“Quick question. Did Brian really never tell you about us?” The Alice, who was not coming with us, asked.

“... I don’t think so?”

“Oh? Okay. Mana, you can explain it all on the way.”

“Already knew I could. I’m you.”

“Yes, you are.”

I was more than a bit confused by their conversation, but hopefully it will all be explained.

I heard it all on the way to our quest, and the story was quite interesting. Naturally I had heard of the behemoth fight, and how Alice almost single handedly took down the great beast, but I hadn’t heard of this ‘fusion’.

I know of quite a few of Brian’s cards, as I did help with his tournament, but I didn’t know he could fuse a monster with a person. I just thought he could fuse monsters together.

But what annoyed me the most was that both Einar and Eline seemed to know all of this. I just … why do they get to know and I don’t? Does everyone else know? Or is it just people Brian picked up early on?

What made me even more jealous of the cat-folk kids was when they told me about the coolest thing that has happened in their lives. The time Brian lifted HomeBase off the ground.

I never knew that HomeBase was an actual dungeon that had been buried into the ground like every other dungeon. I assumed it had always been a floating dungeon and Brian just commandeered it for his own use.

But apparently it wasn’t, and both Einar and Eline were there when it lifted off the ground. I really wish I could have been there.

… I wonder if Brian could recreate the event in the Factory? Would he do that for me if I asked?

We got the information on what is happening from the local adventurers’ guild. In short, there had been an increasing number of monsters coming towards the town, and some of them were already injured.

This led the guild to conclude that a powerful monster had moved to the area, so they sent a C-rank party to investigate, but sadly the party never returned, so they called for higher ranking adventurers.

So our job was twofold. One, we should kill any monsters that are coming towards the town, and two, we need to find and eliminate whatever monster is causing the issue.

Part one was going to be simple, so I decided to leave it to Einar and Eline. After we got a bit away from the town, I sent the two of them down from my B.E.S. Big Core MK-3.

Spoiler

The two of them got on their tigers and began to run in the direction we expected to find our monster in, while clearing away the monsters.

And after Lumi and Sparky had their fun, the tamer and summoner pair could have their other summoned/tamed monsters have their fun, and after those would come the monsters they can summon with cards.

They will be fine.

So while they took care of the easy work, I searched for whatever could be causing this, but no matter how much I searched, I didn’t find any large or powerful monsters.

Maybe it already left the area? But that doesn’t check out. There is a clear lack of monsters in this area, so there should be something.

That was when I got a call from Eline with a tool Brian called a ‘radio’. It was a short range communicator that could transmit sound. But I think Brian is crazy, because what he considers ‘short range’ is actually quite far.

“Unika HELP! We found something and it is beating our Sphinxes.” She called for help.

Spoiler

That isn’t good. Einar and Eline’s Sphinxes are powerful monsters Brian gave them, so if this, whatever it is, is beating them, it must be very powerful.

Luckily I knew where the two were, since my ship's radar showed their location, so I quickly guided the ship there.

I then beamed myself and Mana down to the ground.

I watched as the two large Sphinxes were being hit by something flying, something that moved extremely fast, to the point where I could just barely follow it. And my eyesight is quite good because I am an archer.

But what I did pick up was that it is furred and it has wings. And while its hits didn’t seem to damage the Sphinxes too much, the fact that it could damage them at all was a bit alarming.

“Do you know what we are dealing with?!” I asked.

“No! I think it is a winged beast of some kind, but it is so fast, and I think it uses illusions or something!” Einar answered, while he was tending to Lumi.

The blizzard tiger was injured, so it likely took a hard hit from the unknown monster. I didn’t see Sparky anywhere either, so maybe he sacrificed himself for his summoner.

I need information. What is this monster and how strong is it?

“Bring forth your multiple tails and appear by my side, Silon!” I chanted to summon my A-rank monster.

I don’t summon Silon all that often, because she takes a lot of mana to summon, but I needed her for this.

“Silon! Can you slow that monster down, and maybe break the illusion it is using?” I asked the fox.

{Yes, dear. I’ll do it quickly.} My summon answered.Unika can understand beasts and can talk to them, because she does have Language Comprehension (beast)

It wasn’t quite as fast as Silon expected, but eventually, I got a good look at the monster attacking us. It looked like a winged fox, but winged foxes are C-rank. Also, this monster is small. It is much smaller than even Fer and Rum. But it is strong.

I then began to recall stories about powerful monsters, ones I remember my father telling me, as well as ones that I heard on the beginner adventurer’s courses in the capital.

In one of my father’s stories, he told me about an S-rank monster that looked like a winged fox, but was much smaller. But to make up for its small size, the monster had very powerful magic of both Wind and Light attributes. And because the monster loved the Sun, it would push away any rain clouds from the area and cause a drought.

“... what was it called?” I tried to recall, but I couldn’t. But it shouldn’t matter. I know its attributes, so I should be able to deal with it.

Activating my duel disk, I set Wynn the Wind Charmer on it face down. I then waited a bit, while my hidden monster repositioned herself, before I flipped her face up just as the winged fox was charging in.

Spoiler

Wynn quickly brought the monster under her control, and I got the first really good look at it.

It really was a small winged fox, standing no more than 30 cm tall, with a body length, excluding the tail, of about 50 cm. Tiny compared to even D-rank monsters. Usually only E and F-rank monsters are that small.

The large feathery wings did somewhat make up for that small size, but to me, they made the fox look even more adorable.

“Alright. Let’s kill it.” Eline said.

“NO!” I quickly called out.

“But that is our job.” Einar pointed out.

“No. Well, yes, but no. We just need to get rid of it. So we can take it with us. I’m taming it.” I told them.

The beast was currently under Wynn’s control, and it didn’t seem to resist, instead it almost looked like the fox wanted to play with Wynn. Maybe it is bored?

“Hello, little fox. Would you talk to me for a bit?”

{Foxy lady! Play with me!} The little pup exclaimed.

“Yes, I can play with you. But we can’t play here.”

{Why not!? I want to play!}

“The humans close by are scared, because you are scaring the monsters in this area.”

{Humans are boring to play with. I ran at them and they went to sleep and didn’t wake up. Don’t want to play with them.}

… oh right. I almost forgot that this beast killed a C-rank party. We should try to find their bodies, if they are still in the forest.

“Don’t worry. If you agree to be tamed, I can take you to this great place where there are loads of fun people to play with.” I promised the fox.

{Tame? What is that? Can I eat it? Can I play with it?}

“Just put give me your paw, and you will be tamed.” I told the fox.

Now usually it wouldn’t be that simple, but if the monster agreed to it, then yes, just a simple contact could do it.

The fox didn’t even hesitate, just rushed me and jumped into my arms. It wasn’t quite what I wanted, as I nearly fell over and likely would have, had Mana not used Telekinesis to support my body.

This little fox is way more powerful than I ever assumed.

I felt the taming go through, and with that, there was only one thing left to do. Name this guy.

“I think I’ll call you Nio.”

With the fox tamed, I asked Nio to bring me to where he played with the adventurers, and we did find their bodies. They were quite damaged, but we could heal that damage if necessary. We do all carry Gift Cards so we can heal each other. Sadly they had been dead for too long, so we couldn't resurrect them with Monster Reborn. At least their faces hadn’t been eaten by monsters, so we could return the bodies to their families.

We then came up with an excuse monster that we could use in place of Nio and luckily Mana had access to Brian’s Storage, so we could use one of the HomeBase monsters.

We decided to use a rainbow-horned rabbit, as it is a powerful monster. Their classification is somewhat questionable, as they are B-rank monsters, but that is only because of their very low defenses. Rainbow-horned rabbits have very high offensive power, so just one can easily kill a party that isn’t prepared to face one.

And admittedly, the impacts Nio left on the adventurers look like they could have been caused by a hornless rainbow-horned rabbit. And rainbow-horned rabbits are known to be extremely aggressive if they lose their horn, so we decided to blame all of this on one of them.

The villagers were thankful that we took care of the issue, and were even more thankful that we brought back the remains, so after we got paid, we headed back to HomeBase.

{Play with me!} I watched as Nio rushed towards Brian.

Brian barely flinched as he caught the flying fox and after a bit of looking at it, he spoke up.

“Where on Earth did you find a Bibi?”

“It was the monster causing issues.” I answered. “And bibi? Is that Nio’s race?”

“Nio, huh? Almost Neo. A good name for a speedball.” Brian said. “And yes. Laura identified it as a bibi, an S-rank monster. How did you do with it?”

I then told him how our adventure went, and told him that if Nio was doing more than playing around, we may have had some actual issues.

“... alright. I’ll give you all some cards that can bind up super fast monsters.” Brian said.

He then made sure to reset cards onto Einar and Eline, as some of their set trap cards had activated.

{Play with me!} Then came from Nio, as he took off from Brian’s stomach, and flew towards me.

Only for a handful of Dark Chains to block his path.

I looked at Brian and saw him smirking.

“So the little bibi wants to play.” Brian said, as a handful of golden swords appeared around him. “You will make for a great practice target.”

“... don’t hurt him too much.” I told Brian, but I let the two ‘play’ for a bit.
