Yugioh Card Summoner

CH.59 I’m famous now?

CH.59 I’m famous now?

As I was following Lucia to, well I don’t really know exactly where we are going, some of the farmers that were checking on their crops came up to us.

“Is that him?” and “Is that the summoner?” Were phrases I heard.

“Lucia, what’s all that?” I asked her.

“Well, there was a celebration after the wyverns were taken down. Some of the guards and members of Diamond Sword began singing about you. The rumors quickly spread, and now almost everyone in town knows who you are.” Lucia told me.

So I became a celebrity overnight. Well, I guess it would be over two nights, but who really cares. And here I was trying to keep at least somewhat of a small profile. Mission failed. Not that I was trying overly hard, but still. I did predict that being a summoner with a unique skill would eventually become known, but not this quickly. Next thing you tell me is that everyone knows about me being a dungeon founder.

“I’m sorry.” Lucia said after we got past the farmers.

“For what? It’s not your fault.” I told her.

“I should have asked them to not speak about you.” She answered.

“I can’t really blame people for asking questions. I’m sure at least Red-Eyes was spotted from the town and with a dragon that close to town, of course people will ask questions.” I told her.

“But… “

“No buts. I told you, it’s not your fault. In all honesty, I should be kneeling before you, thanking you for taking care of me while I was out.” I told Lucia.

“But you saved me first.” She answered.

“I save you, you take care of me. Doesn’t that mean we are equal?”

“But,”

“No Buts.” I interrupted her. Again.

“...Thank you.” She said quietly. “For saving us.”

“Yeah, of course.” It’s always difficult to respond to something like that. I don’t want to say something like ‘Anytime’ or ‘I would do it again’, because that makes it sound like I want it to happen again.

We made it to a place where adventurers had gathered to drain blood from boars. Some members of Diamond Sword were here, as well as Alex from Prime Rib. But I don’t see Rico. I heard that Zayaan went with Brandon to make a report, but did Rico go with them? Or is he in some other area? I guess a noble would need some level of escort while traveling, so he might be with Zayaan.

Lucia went to help in the blood draining, but she wasn’t storing the blood in her flask this time. I guess she might have enough after the wyverns to last her for a while.

Some of the younger adventurers made their way over to me.

“Are you sir Brian?” One of them asked carefully.

“Yes, I am.” I answered. I’m not going to hide it now. The farmers already recognized me, so trying to hide wouldn’t accomplish anything.

“Then, could you show us a summon?” The junior asked.

“I guess I could.” I told him and the others. But what to summon?

“Will you? Really?” The adventurers got excited. “Show us the dragon.” They demanded.

Red-Eyes? Yeah, not happening. I don’t want to cause unnecessary chaos.

“I’m not summoning a dragon for no reason.” I told them. Few of them seemed sad because of my answer.

I quickly check my collection list for something not overly large, but still impressive.

(Might I suggest Performance of Sword.) Laura gave her suggestion.

Performance of Sword? I quickly check on it. It’s a ritual monster. Do I even have the spell to summon it with? And I would also need sacrifices for the ritual summon.

(You do have Commencement Dance, and I recommend using Hungry Burger as the material.)

That would work. Let’s do it.

I pull out the three cards I need for the ritual, and get ready to do it. I walk a little away from the blood draining station and prepare for the summon.

“I’ll show you a summon now.” I told the juniors. Their eyes are locked onto me, and I think some of them are even gleaming.

I pull up my sleeve and activate my DiaDhank.

“With Commencement Dance, I tribute Hungry Burger, to ritual summon Performance of Sword.” It’s a little embarrassing to say outloud long ‘combos’ like that. Especially with so many people watching me. Any actual Yugioh player would be laughing at me saying using three cards is a ‘combo’. They would go all like, ‘Is that what you call a combo, no, This is a combo’ and then proceed to special summon 35+ times and decking out the opponent that activated Maxx “C” against them.

Unlike the usual summon, this ritual summon was slightly different. Around the blue card that appeared, six flames appeared. After the flames burned for a second, a bright light enveloped both the card that appeared on the ground, as well as the one on my DiaDhank. From the card on the ground, my summon rose. She was a tallish woman with long pink hair. She also had large blades attached to some bracers. In a single word, she was beautiful. Or perhaps gorgeous. Sexy? Probably all of the above.

I heard sounds of absolute surprise and amazement from the adventurers. I guess seeing a summon for the first time will do it.

“Master, how may I serve you?” My summon walked up to me and asked.

“I don’t really have anything for you to do.” I told her. “I just used you as an example of a summon for these adventurers.”

“That’s fine, Master. If they want a show, I can give them a performance.” Well, she is called Performance of Sword. Even if she technically doesn’t have any swords. I’m not sure what those blades on her arms would be called though.

“Go for it.” I told her.

She took the non existing stage, and began a beautiful sword dance.

I was about to grab my sandwiches from my fanny pack when I noticed something off. Her card on my DiaDhank now had a sleeve around it. Why? I didn’t place one on her. And there wasn’t one when I summoned her. Did the ritual summon create one for her? Do all ritual monsters automatically get a sleeve when summoned?

(Laura, what do you think?)

(I believe it is due to the summoning method. Her first summon is different from other monsters, so it might have made the sleeve.)

(First summon?)

(Next time Master summons her, you should be able to do it like any other monster. I believe it’s called ‘being properly summoned’.)

So like extra deck monsters. I’ve never really used ritual monsters, other than Chaos-Max and that has to be ritual summoned,  so I really don’t know them that well. But that’s an interesting benefit for ritual monsters. I guess I do need, at minimum, three cards to summon a ritual monster. And two of them have to be somewhat specific. Later ritual monsters and ritual spells are, of course, less specific. But with these early ones its specific spell and specific monster.

I should still make sure to check her card after I unsummon her. And attempt to summon her again tomorrow.

I grab the sandwiches from my fanny pack and take a seat on the ground. Snacking on some wyvern sandwiches, I enjoy the show my summon is putting on. Wyvern meat really is good.

As her performance came to an end, my summon returned to my side. Along with her, plenty of adventurers came as well. Shouldn’t you be working? Well, I’m one to speak. I haven’t done a single quest yet. I guess I kind of took part in Prime Ribs quest to take down that bison, but that’s not official.

“Sir Brian, would you teach us how to summon?” One of the adventurers asked.

Of course someone is going to ask that. Now I just need to turn them down gently. I can’t exactly teach a unique skill.

“I’m sorry, but I can’t.” I tell them. “My summoning is different from usual and cannot be taught. It can only be learned on your own.”

I’m not sure if that makes any sense. Technically the summoning is super easy and I could teach all of them how to do it, but only I can make the cards so… Would you really consider that teaching? It’s more like letting them borrow my power.

“You can’t? Really? But then how did you learn it?” The adventurer asked.

“As I said, it’s something that can be learned, but not taught. Perhaps you will eventually learn summoning on your own, if you try hard enough.” I told him. In all honesty, I have no clue how the ‘normal’ summoning magic works, so my instructions might be all wrong.

“I… I’ll work hard then.” He answered. “I’ll be taking down wyverns in no time, just wait and see.”

Well, he got excited. At least he didn’t give up.

“Sir, would you allow me to spar with your summon?” Another adventurer asked me.

I look up at my summon and she responds with a nod. So she agrees.

“Yeah, that’s fine.” I answered. I know Alex was sparring with a summon when we were trying things out a few days ago, so it should be fine. “Make sure to not hurt him.” I ordered my summon.

After agreeing to the request of one of the adventurers, I was mobbed with more ridiculous ones. The main one people had was for me to summon my dragon. I would do it, but it would most likely cause a panic in town. I should at least ask for permission from the guards first.

“Brian.” Lucia called out to me. “I’m done for now. Shall we head back?”

“Sure.” I responded. I still hadn’t exactly done anything, but I came here with her, and I’ll leave with her. “Performance, we are leaving.” I called my summon. She quickly subdued the adventurer she was sparring with and walked up to me.

“Yes, Master.” She said as she arrived by my side. I should give her a name, if I’m going to summon her more. I want to call her ‘Erza’ because of her red (ish) hair and her being a swordswoman, but I’m not sure. Well, we’ll get over that hurdle at some point.

Walking next to Lucia, we made our way back into town.
