Divine Monster Pet Evolution System

Chapter 3

C3 – He Escaped!

“Congratulations on acquiring your first Demonic Pet. The mission reward is now available. Would you like to retrieve it?”

Having witnessed the system’s wonders, Chen Wu promptly responded, “Retrieve!”

Instantly, an unusual stone materialized in his hand.

It was a deeply mysterious black crystal that, while unassuming in appearance, radiated an odd energy that made Chen Wu feel immensely at ease. It seemed as though every pore in his body came alive at the touch of the stone.

“This is the Soul Sense Stone. The host can automatically access its contents upon contact. Once accessed, it will disintegrate.”

The system offered a gentle reminder.

Becoming a Demonic Pet Master was a widespread practice among humans. Since it was challenging for humans to absorb the world’s energy, physical enhancement was difficult, and they couldn’t absorb Heaven-earth Power like Demonic Beasts to undergo mutations.

Thus, Demonic Pet Masters primarily cultivated their Spiritual Energy.

Spiritual Energy was the force of concentrated consciousness. In essence, any sentient being capable of thought possessed Spiritual Energy. While the Beast Clan’s Spiritual Energy was feeble, humans possessed a much stronger Spiritual Energy. However, it was still a considerable distance from the level needed to control Demonic Pets, making the Spirit Cultivation Technique a crucial element in becoming a Demonic Pet Master.

The variety of Spirit Cultivation Techniques was vast, with nearly every significant Demonic Pet Master power or family possessing their own unique methods. These techniques were exclusive to their respective families and not shared externally. Yet, there were also straightforward techniques designed for the masses, contributed by altruistic and mighty Demonic Pet Masters. Many of these were on par with the techniques of the great families.

Undoubtedly, a superior Spirit Cultivation Technique could accelerate the cultivation of Spiritual Energy and even grant the Demonic Pet Master a unique form of this power.

Consciousness touching?

Chen Wu gazed at the stone, intrigued, only to feel his gaze suddenly drawn in by the stone’s pull!

Information flooded his mind in an instant, leaving him momentarily bewildered. But just a second later, the profound and enigmatic knowledge utterly captivated him.

“Eternal Nirvana Lotus Technique!”

The name was a bit of a mouthful and certainly unusual, but it was the moniker of this particular Spirit Cultivation Technique.

Chen Wu had only a basic grasp of it. The information was overwhelming, and he couldn’t assimilate it all at once. The memories were like a flowing stream; he could access them when needed and ponder over them gradually, as if studying a text. However, Chen Wu was pressed for time and couldn’t afford to decipher it piece by piece. He had only managed to grasp the essentials of the Grade 1 cultivation stage.

“My Soul Force is so weak. No wonder it feels like another consciousness is almost equal to mine!”

One’s Spiritual Energy must reach the Spiritual Mist level to have a chance at controlling and taming a Demonic Pet. Yet, Chen Wu’s Spiritual Energy hadn’t even attained that level. Put simply, without practicing the Psychic Technique, his Spiritual Energy couldn’t coalesce into a tangible force at his command.

He was fortunate that the system had automatically bound a Demonic Pet to him.

The Iron-feather Eagle plummeted from hundreds of meters in the air, swiftly circling just ten meters above Chen Wu. Through their psychic bond, Chen Wu could feel the Iron-feather Eagle’s thrill at seeing its master!

The Iron-feather Eagle wasn’t particularly large, but it was significantly bigger than a regular eagle. Its body was cloaked in darkness, with pale golden eyes that glinted sharply and talons resembling black gold capable of piercing stone. Its feathers shimmered with a cool metallic sheen.

The Iron-feather Eagle had fully accepted Chen Wu as its master, radiating emotions of joy and affection.

Chen Wu could perceive its feelings with clarity.

Still, Chen Wu faced a predicament. He had acquired a Beast Pet, yet he was trapped. A twenty-meter-high cliff loomed overhead, and the turbulent expanse of the Gold-sand River lay before him. With his current strength, entering the river would mean being swept away by the current.

The Iron-feather Eagle, though a Demonic Beast, was simply too small—barely reaching Chen Wu’s calves. The likelihood of it being able to lift Chen Wu into the air seemed impossible.

The System suggested, “Host, you might want to check out today’s sign-in reward.”

“Reward…”

Chen Wu remembered the Low Level Demonic Spirit Pill!

“System, retrieve the Low Level Demonic Spirit Pill!”

“Retrieving…”

The next moment, a grayish-black pill the size of a longan appeared in Chen Wu’s palm, emitting a unique and pleasant fragrance.

“Is this the Low Level Demonic Spirit Pill?”

Chen Wu realized its significance. The Low Level Demonic Spirit Pill could indefinitely enhance the power of a Bronze Level Demonic Beast at Grade 1!

Demonic Beasts, creatures that harnessed the essence of the sun and moon, grew stronger with their cultivation and power, which manifested in increased strength, speed, or size.

This pill was perfect for bolstering the Iron-feather Eagle!

Chen Wu gently projected his thoughts to the Iron-feather Eagle: “Iron-feather Eagle, go ahead and eat it.”

The Iron-feather Eagle understood Chen Wu’s intent perfectly. It swooped down, snatched the pill in its beak, and swallowed it. After finishing, it clacked its beak contentedly, showing a semblance of human-like pleasure.

In an instant, its presence surged dramatically!

“Ding! Your Demonic Pet, the Iron-feather Eagle, has ascended to Bronze Grade 2!”

The Iron-feather Eagle, now at Grade 2, visibly grew larger, standing half a meter tall. Its iron feathers shone more brilliantly, and its aura became even more formidable.

The Iron-feather Eagle, visibly excited, beat its wings vigorously, its speed noticeably faster than before.

Chen Wu was thrilled. Although the Iron-feather Eagle was a Bronze Level Demonic Beast, its strength was formidable, especially its flying capabilities. Despite its lack of patience, the power of the Grade 2 Iron-feather Eagle was now sufficient to effortlessly tear through steel, allowing it to carry him in flight for a brief duration. Ascending several dozen meters should pose no issue!

As if grasping his master’s thoughts, the Iron-feather Eagle let out an exuberant screech. It intelligently perched on the rock in front of Chen Wu, lowered its neck, and neatly tucked its head into the crevice, gently preening Chen Wu’s tousled hair.

Without uttering another word, Chen Wu, braving the pain, swiftly crawled out and seized one of the Iron-feather Eagle’s wings. With a deft flip, he found himself standing on its back. The Iron-feather Eagle was modest in size, standing only sixty centimeters tall, providing just enough space on its back for Chen Wu alone.

Crouching slightly, Chen Wu clutched the Iron-feather Eagle’s sturdy feathers and, with a surge of excitement, declared, “We’re ready, Blood Feather. Let’s take off!” Blood Feather was the new name Chen Wu had bestowed upon the Iron-feather Eagle, symbolizing his fervent wish for it to reign supreme in the heavens, just like its namesake.

The eagle cried out in what seemed to be approval of its new name and the bond with its new master. It vigorously flapped its wings and, with a forceful grip of its Iron Claw, shattered the rocky ground beneath. Then, with a powerful thrust, it shot straight up into the sky!

The strong gusts tousled his hair as Chen Wu, overwhelmed with emotion, felt tears well up in his eyes. He was free at last! God only knew that until this moment, he had abandoned all hope for life. Yet, in such a brief span, not only had he found freedom, but he had also gained his very first Demonic Pet!
