Chapter 16
C16 – It Was Mo Changyou
A slender young man emerged before the crowd, his form bathed in a golden radiance reminiscent of a resplendent War God, exuding confidence and superiority.
As divine light cascaded down from the Azure Dragon Pagoda, it seemed to transform into a red carpet upon which Mo Changyou descended with measured steps.
In that instant, the disciples below, previously buzzing with anticipation, were struck with astonishment.
“Is that you? The one they call trash with Grade Nine Talent, Mo Changyou?” Mo Yanglin had been expecting to greet his son, but his face contorted with shock at the sight before him.
This was not his son; this was Mo Changyou!
The son of the Second Master, Mo Changyou, was known as the only member of the Mo family to bear the stigma of Grade Nine Talent.
“How can this be? My god, could it be that the one who ascended to the ninth level isn’t Mo Yangning but Mo Changyou?” a disciple exclaimed.
“Exactly, how is this possible? Wasn’t Mo Changyou deemed worthless with his Grade Nine Talent? How could he have possibly reached the ninth floor of the Azure Dragon Pagoda?” other disciples murmured among themselves, their eyes wide with disbelief, struggling to accept the scene unfolding before them.
The elders, too, were struck dumb, their eyes wide as they witnessed the unbelievable truth.
But the truth was undeniable. It was Mo Changyou who had reached the ninth floor. Even the Tower Guardian Elder was taken aback. He had assumed that Mo Changyou’s attempt to conquer the tower would end in hardship, perhaps even with him sustaining severe injuries within the Azure Dragon Pagoda.
Yet, against all odds, the young man had ascended to the ninth level, setting a millennia-long record for the Mo family.
“Since everyone’s here, may I inquire when I’ll receive my reward?” Mo Changyou asked with a calm smile. The spirit stone rewards were provided by the Mo family, while the treasures were cultivated by the Azure Dragon Pagoda itself.
With poise, Mo Changyou stood before the assembly of elders and disciples, neither overly modest nor arrogant. High above, Mo Lianshen’s piercing gaze narrowed; he had not anticipated that his nephew would claim first place.
“Everyone labeled him as trash with Grade Nine Talent, yet he’s reached the ninth floor. He’s even surpassed his father,” Mo Lianshen mused quietly, observing Mo Changyou below. Despite his youth, Mo Changyou’s composure in the face of the gathered elders earned a silent commendation from Mo Lianshen.
Despite Mo Yunyun’s awareness of Mo Changyou’s extreme abnormalities, witnessing him ascend to the ninth level of the Azure Dragon Pagoda stirred a significant tempest in her heart.
Mo Yunyun watched the young man who had captured everyone’s attention, and a hint of admiration flickered in her eyes.
“This is impossible. It must be a trick. Only my son, Beiming, could have reached the ninth level!” Mo Yanglin roared, his teeth gritted, fists clenched.
“You’re nothing but a nobody with Grade Nine Talent. How could you possibly ascend to the ninth level? I refuse to believe it!” Mo Yanglin’s anger was palpable as his Spirit Fusion Stage power burst forth. A faint flame enveloped all the disciples and elders within its reach, creating a massive barrier that pressed down on everyone.
Enraged, he lashed out, intent on confronting Mo Changyou.
A fiery hand struck out at Mo Changyou.
“My son, Beiming, is the Mo family’s top prodigy. You, a nobody with Grade Nine Talent, must have cheated! Today, I will end you!” Mo Yanglin, driven by fury and embarrassment, launched a ferocious punch at Mo Changyou. Behind him, a fearsome flame soared high into the air.
Meanwhile, Mo Changyou remained unmoved, his expression unchanged.
An expert at the Peak of the Spirit Fusion Stage had made a move against Mo Changyou. The overwhelming force would have instantly crushed any ordinary Peak of Energy Condensation Stage expert into dust.
The elders and disciples’ faces turned pale with shock. The Third Elder had taken action, and it seemed unlikely that this young man would survive.
“Mo Yanglin, that’s enough!” At that moment, an angry shout rang out, followed by a golden palm striking fiercely towards the fiery hand.
The two palms collided with a thunderous impact, shaking the very fabric of the void around them, as if the entire world was fracturing.
Mo Yanglin was sent flying back dozens of feet, crashing into a stone wall that shattered on impact. Above, Mo Lianshen descended gracefully. He looked at Mo Yanglin and spoke calmly.
“You’ve gone too far, attacking a young man with merely Energy Condensation Level 3 in my presence,” Mo Lianshen rebuked, his sleeve flicking dismissively. His face was a mask of resolute determination, tinged with a trace of cold intent.
Over the years, Mo Yanglin has committed numerous vile acts within the Mo family. Since Mo Lianshen’s brother, the Second Master, was incapacitated, and his own offspring possessed a Grade Nine Talent, he turned a blind eye to Mo Yanglin’s reprehensible deeds.
But today, his nephew has shown flashes of genius. Surely Mo Yanglin wouldn’t dare harm Mo Changyou right before his eyes?
He wouldn’t dare!
Mo Yanglin faced Mo Lianshen, clutching his chest, his eyes brimming with fury, murderous intent, and resentment.
Although both were in the Late Spirit Fusion Stage, Mo Lianshen was merely a step away from ascending to the rank of Inscription Expert. Consequently, Mo Yanglin was no match for Mo Lianshen.
“Mo Changyou is nothing but trash with a Grade Nine Talent. How could he possibly have reached the ninth floor? I refuse to believe he did it by fair means!” Mo Yanglin’s eyes darkened with malice. Clutching his chest, he shot a glance at the surrounding elders, who quickly caught on and nodded in agreement.
“Indeed, Patriarch. Mo Changyou has merely a Grade Nine Talent. It’s well-known that he’s the bottom rung of the Mo family. How on earth could he have ascended to the ninth floor?”
“Patriarch, the Third Elder didn’t act with malice. It’s simply inconceivable that Mo Changyou could have reached the ninth floor. He must have cheated!” one of the elders chimed in.
