Chapter 35
C35 – According to the Rules He Tried His Best to Argue
“Who are you?”
Yao Di swiftly followed the blood trail and found the Golden Wolf Eagle, also catching sight of Zhuang Xing.
Upon seeing Yao Di, Zhuang Xing’s heart raced. His instincts told him that the man before him possessed a high level of cultivation and formidable strength. This young master was an expert at the Spirit Wheel Stage Level Seven Heaven, and Yao Di was indeed remarkable.
“Mr. Di, look, that’s the beast.”
Yao Di shifted his attention from Zhuang Xing to the Golden Wolf Eagle. The creature lay still on the ground, appearing lifeless.
“Yao Ben, check if this animal is dead.”
“Yes.”
A teenager, about fifteen or sixteen years old, approached and examined the Golden Wolf Eagle. “Mr. Di, this animal is definitely dead, without a doubt.”
Yao Di nodded in approval. It was a relief that the creature was dead. They had expended considerable effort to hunt down this Golden Wolf Eagle.
He then turned his icy gaze back to Zhuang Xing, his eyes filled with a chilling intent to kill. The Golden Wolf Eagle was a Divine Beast of the Celestial Eagle Gang, on the verge of advancing to Rank Three. If the Celestial Eagle Gang learned that members of the Yao family had secretly slain it, they would not rest until justice was served. Thus, Zhuang Xing could not be left alive; Yao Di was resolved to eliminate him.
“He’s harboring a murderous intent.”
Zhuang Xing, ever perceptive, immediately sensed the young man’s lethal intentions.
Just then, someone hurriedly approached Yao Di and announced, “Mr. Di, the Celestial Eagle Gang has arrived.”
“What?”
The group’s expressions shifted, caught off guard by the swift arrival of the Celestial Eagle Gang.
“Mr. Di, we should leave now. If the Celestial Eagle Gang catches us here, we’ll be in deep trouble.”
Yao Di glanced at the Golden Wolf Eagle and then at Zhuang Xing, pondering for a moment before deciding, “We’re leaving.”
This man hadn’t witnessed them killing the Golden Wolf Eagle. Even if he informed the Celestial Eagle Gang, it wouldn’t make a difference. They could easily deny any involvement. Yao Di was confident that the Celestial Eagle Gang wouldn’t dare confront them over the matter.
As for this individual, we’ll spare his life for the moment. Once the Celestial Eagle Gang departs, there will be plenty of time to handle him.
“Yao Di, where are you headed?”
The members of the Celestial Eagle Gang moved with incredible speed. No sooner had we taken a step than they were upon us.
“They arrived astonishingly fast.”
The unexpected arrival of the Celestial Eagle Gang members took us by surprise, but Yao Di, accustomed to the ways of the world, quickly regained his composure. As he had suspected, they hadn’t witnessed the killing of the Golden Wolf Eagle. Without evidence, they couldn’t touch Yao Di and the rest of us.
Zhuang Xing’s brow furrowed as he observed the newcomers, sensing a strong premonition of bad luck. It seemed he might be dragged into a conflict that wasn’t meant for him.
“Golden Wolf Eagle.”
Bao Guangsha sprinted forward, crouching to inspect the Golden Wolf Eagle, its body already icy to the touch.
“Who killed the Golden Wolf Eagle?”
Bao Guangsha’s rage was palpable, his formidable power erupting with his fury, making souls quiver.
Birds scattered in panic, fleeing the scene, while some members of the Yao family were visibly shaking. Bao Guangsha’s power was truly fearsome; his wrath could lead to dire consequences.
“Spirit Wheel Stage Level Seven Heaven.”
Zhuang Xing was inwardly taken aback. Bao Guangsha’s cultivation had reached the Spirit Wheel Stage Level Seven Heaven, a level of strength that was profoundly formidable. He truly was the most exceptional young talent of Azure Sun City.
“You deserve to die.”
Bao Guangsha’s roar sent a powerful surge of energy toward Zhuang Xing, like a whirlwind.
“Oh no.”
Realizing the gravity of the situation, Zhuang Xing’s figure flickered, narrowly evading the fearsome strike.
“You’ve got some skill.”
Bao Guangsha was surprised to see Zhuang Xing dodge his attack. Nevertheless, he was resolute that the killer of the Golden Wolf Eagle would not leave alive.
“Hold on, I have no quarrel with you. Why attack me so suddenly?”
Zhuang Xing urgently interjected, attempting to halt Bao Guangsha’s next move.
”No grudges?” Bao Guangsha scoffed. “You killed the Celestial Eagle Gang’s Divine Beast, and yet you claim we have no bad blood between us?”
“When exactly did I kill your Divine Beast? By the time I arrived, the creature was already dead,” Zhuang Xing retorted, his voice booming. He refused to be wrongfully accused. It was clear to any observer that this Demonic Beast was slain by members of the Yao family.
”Do you still insist on pleading innocence? If you’re not the killer, then why are you here? You’re drenched in blood. How do you explain that? Don’t even try to tell me those bloodstains and marks on you were made by a person.”
Zhuang Xing remained silent. The bloodstains and marks on him were from his own encounters while hunting Demonic Beasts. His initial intent in coming here was indeed to slay the Golden Wolf Eagle. He didn’t deny that, but before he had the chance to act, the Golden Wolf Eagle was already dead.
“Furthermore, I have witnesses,” he added.
“Where are these witnesses?” Bao Guangsha sneered.
”Come out, you two.”
Looh Jiang and Qin Xi stepped forward from the shadows. Zhuang Xing’s memory was instantly jogged; these were the same two individuals he had encountered before.
“Young Master Bao, this man is out of his mind. He’s been on a frenzied hunt for Demonic Beasts since yesterday afternoon. It wasn’t just me; many others saw it too. We just witnessed him in pursuit of the Golden Wolf Eagle. It was alive when we saw it, and now it’s dead. There’s no question—he’s the one who killed it.”
Zhuang Xing’s expression grew grim. These two were the last people he expected to turn up. At this point, he was almost certain that nothing he said would convince them of his innocence.
“Kid, you’re out of excuses now, aren’t you?” Bao Guangsha taunted.
Meanwhile, the Yao family members exchanged knowing glances, smirking to themselves. They had thought they would be the ones facing trouble from the Celestial Eagle Gang, as they were the actual hunters of the Golden Wolf Eagle. But to their amusement, someone else had inadvertently diverted the gang’s focus.
“Bao Guangsha, it looks like you’ve got your hands full. With that, we’ll take our leave. Farewell.”
Yao Di swiftly departed with the members of the Yao family in tow.
“Yao Di, we’ll settle our accounts later.”
Once the Yao family had cleared out, Bao Guangsha turned his full attention to Zhuang Xing. There had always been bad blood between the Yao family and the Celestial Eagle Gang, with grievances running deep. Yao Di’s presence might have prevented them from taking Zhuang Xing’s life, but now it appeared that all of Bao Guangsha’s concerns had been unfounded.
