Chapter 62 Cliche
Lei Zhen's mouth was wide open, almost as if he could swallow a fly from how wide it was.
How could there be such a coincidence like this?
Robert Knightman, the man he accidentally encountered because of a system error, was actually the princess' personal instructor.
And his information was also coincidentally hidden from the public?
What was cliche?
This was the definition of a cliche scenario, and Lei Zhen almost had the urge to vomit from such crappy writing by the Tundra company.
'I'm already unlucky enough to be assigned such a task forcefully by Robert, and now this princess is probably going to be even more problematic.' Lei Zhen thought.
He couldn't stand the current sight of Kate, who was seemingly on the verge of a mental breakdown.
If others were to accidentally come in at this time, then he and Chris would have been labeled a bully or worse, a criminal that is bullying a seemingly fragile woman.
Luckily though, the game wasn't cringed enough to arrange such a "coincidence" scenario to happen, and Kate quickly regained her composure after a few seconds.
"Anyway, how did you come to learn of this name?" Kate returned his question with a question instead, prompting Lei Zhen to twitch his mouth.
He vowed to ask fewer questions from now on and instead try to learn it by himself using other methods.
Seeing her eager expression, Lei Zhen knew he had to start from where he encountered Robert Knightman and their conversation.
By the time Lei Zhen finished explaining their encounter, Kate was left astonished.
She wasn't astonished by the fact that Lei Zhen had met with Robert Knightman, but by the fact that he was entrusted with a very important item.
"You were assigned to transport the Ferold's Ring??" Kate asked in a dumbfounded tone.
"Where is the Ferold's Ring?" She asked agitatedly, trying to reach her hand out to search Lei Zhen's body thoroughly.
Of course, she was concerned about Robert Knightman, but the importance of Ferold's Ring was the highest priority.
The reason why the Yors Castle had come into this crisis was because of the missing Ferold's Ring which holds a mystical power that solidified the standing of Yors Castle.
Meanwhile, Lei Zhen shook his head and shrugged his shoulders.
"Don't ask me. I'm not sure where the Ferold's Ring was either." Lei Zhen said calmly.
When he was scanning through his inventory and found out the Mystery??? Box, he made sure to scan it again to see if there was any item that he had neglected.
However, the Ferold's Ring doesn't seem to be in his inventory at all which caused him to be baffled and helpless.
His mission was to deliver the Ferold's Ring but he doesn't even know where it is.
The mission should have been invalid but it was still listed as active, meaning there should be some condition or scenario.
Hence, he took the risk to ask Kate about it.
"Is there some sort of secret contained in the Ferold's Ring? I had the mission entrusted by Robert Knightman, but I've never seen the ring before." He said calmly, prompting Kate to stop the idea to do a body check on him.
"Wait a minute… you meant you had never seen the Ferold's Ring appearance before?" Kate asked in a bewildered tone.
'There's no way Robert would entrust someone with the Ferold's Ring without showing them. Unless…' A horrifying thought suddenly came to her mind and Kate could not help but swallow some of her saliva nervously.
"Lei Zhen, have you ever felt weird about yourself recently? Something such as your skill has decreased or that you are not getting stronger lately?" She asked in a trembling tone.
"..."
"No, it can't be." Lei Zhen laughed and shook his head.
"You better not say the Ferold's Ring is some curse and that the wearer of it will receive a lot of backlashes." He added, raising his finger and pointing at her, hoping to warn her to not continue her next words.
Seeing his frantic change in expression, Kate breathed a soft sigh as it confirmed her suspicions and the reason why Lei Zhen had never seen it.
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ Never did she expect the reason for her expedition would actually come to an end in such a manner.
"So my personal instructor had chosen you and forcefully placed the duty upon you…" She said calmly.
"Ferold's Ring? Is it that Legendary Item that the royal family of Norton used to establish the Yors Castle?" Chris, who had been in a daze, finally managed to catch on.
Kate nodded her head. "Yes, it's that same Ferold's Ring."
"But how did Lei Zhen manage to equip it? The Ferold's Ring is a level 75 Legendary Item." Chris exclaimed in shock, his head subconsciously turning toward Lei Zhen.
"How are you not suffering from the consequences of wearing it?" Chris then asked him.
Even without knowing Lei Zhen's actual level, his gears alone and the fact that he struggled against a level 65 hound were enough for Chris to know he definitely did not meet the requirement to equip the ring.
"There are two methods of equipping the ring and only the first method was revealed to the public." Kate stepped forward and proceeded to explain.
"Robert Knightman was taught with the technique of forcefully equipping the ring onto someone from our forefather. Hence, his identity is relatively special, and why my two elder brothers are eager to get him to their side."
"Hold up," Lei Zhen raised his hand and stopped Kate.
"If based on what you just said, then doesn't that mean I'm currently equipping the ring. Yet I have never seen the ring before so where the hell is it if I'm supposed to have it on me?"
Kate remained silent for a few seconds before asking him in a solemn tone.
"Have Robert Knightman smack you somewhere during your conversation with him? If so, then that smack was him injecting the ring into your mana core directly."
