Chapter 63 Curse
Kate was extremely patient with her words even though Lei Zhen was raising his tone.
After all, she knew what the effect would be if one equipped the ring using the second method. Not to mention, he was being kept in the dark and didn't know anything about it.
Even a saint would get agitated and enraged when being toyed with like that.
"Relax, the Ferold's Ring might be in your mana core, but we can help you extract it," Kate said, hoping to soothe the anger in Lei Zhen's heart.
Being severely weakened was definitely not a fun experience and no one would volunteer to receive such a big penalty.
"..."
No matter how angry he was, Lei Zhen still knew how to decipher who was the culprit of his pathetic predicament. Kate only realized the situation now, so he wasn't going to act recklessly and blame it on her.
"Then what are we waiting for?" Lei Zhen took a deep breath and said.
"Let's make our journey back to Yors Castle. And I doubt you'll get ambushed again with that attacker gone." He added.
"Huh? How did you know the person that targeted me had left?"
"Before coming here, I noticed a mysterious man clad in full black clothes and had those two hounds at his command. He said something about his base being infiltrated so he was forced to leave."
"Haha, serve that black mage right. He killed all of my soldiers, so I'll definitely remember this debt of gratitude." A fierce glint was shown in Kate's eyes.
Now that the crisis was resolved, she was not going to let anyone off that had plotted against her.
The soldiers that were assigned to protect her were all heroes. They risked their lives completely to ensure her safety and died in battle.
'Rest assured, loyal soldiers of Yors Castle. I'll make sure your family will be provided for and avenge you guys.' Kate vowed to herself, clenching her fist.
With that vow done, Kate decided to follow Chris and Lei Zhen back to their carriage.
Although Kate still had some doubts about Chris, she was much friendlier with Lei Zhen now.
Anyone that was entrusted by her personal instructor meant that their character is good and can be trusted.
As the two of them got inside the carriage with Chris being the driver, Kate began asking Lei Zhen numerous questions regarding Robert Knightman.
"Anyway, why is Robert in that pit? Was there a specific reason why he went missing all these years and was hiding there?" Kate was like a little girl, desperately looking for answers.
"First of all, I don't know why he's in that pit nor why he went missing. All I know is that I was the most unfortunate to fall into a pit that he somehow was waiting there." Lei Zhen said, sounding as calm as possible.
However, the more calm a person in this type of situation, the more enraged the person actually was.
In fact, Lei Zhen already swore to give Robert a punch if he ever meet him again.
Of all the people he could choose from, Robert had to choose him, a person that barely had any experience in VRMMORPG.
Time slowly passed by, and Lei Zhen wondered if Kate was really as Chris described, a non-talkative and serious person.
She was the complete opposite of the description Chris gave. She was talkative and always somehow found a topic that goes back to Robert.
Robert Kngihtman this and Robert Knightman that, Lei Zhen was on the verge of going insane.
"Chris, you must be tired now, so let's swap places. I'll do the driving while you come inside to rest." Lei Zhen offered.
Though it was an offer, Lei Zhen had hurriedly gotten up and pushed Chris aside, prompting him to have no choice but to go inside the carriage.
Despite getting kicked out of the driver's seat, Chris was actually happy and grateful for the opportunity.
Kate had been conversing with Lei Zhen throughout their journey, causing him to be unable to get a chance to convince Kate to form a cooperative relationship with him.
Now with Lei Zhen kicking him out, Kate had nowhere else to hide but to face him directly.
Of course, the moment Lei Zhen left, Kate's friendly expression was gone and was replaced with a cold expression.
The atmosphere instantly turned from a warm and lovely place into a dark and desolate prison-like place.

Merchants don't exactly have the best reputation because they are known for being cunning and money-seeking dogs, meaning they'll do anything for profits.
"Princess Kate, I know you probably have some guards against me because I'm a merchant and actively seeking profit due to Yors Castle's internal and external conflict. However, you should still work with me because I can help you in resolving the crisis." Chris said with an earnest expression.
Kate remained silent, not planning on having any intention of replying to him.
Chris didn't give up since he had a thick face.
"You should know that today's incident is probably related to one of your elder brothers. Only they are capable of tempting a black mage into working for them temporarily."
Although very subtle, Chris noticed a slight movement from Kate when she heard him talk about the incident of her ambush.
It doesn't take a genius to know who could have such foresight and influence to cause a dignified princess to fall from such grace.
"You can feign ignorance, but you should know continuing to feign innocence would only result in the doom of Yors Castle. If one of your elder brothers even dared to hire a black mage to assist them, then it wouldn't be a surprise for them to risk everything, including the lives of many for the throne." Chris suddenly raised his tone and yelled.
"Enough!" Kate clenched her hand into a fist and shouted back in anger.
