Chapter 69 Chancellor
Stopping a few 100 meters away from the entrance of Yors Castle, Lei Zhen and the rest began to inspect the surroundings.
According to the surrendered imperial guards' words, the outer walls are still protecting the interior of Yors Castle.
However, the path outside and entry are under supervision from the two princes, effectively shutting Yors Castle down to outsiders.
The Yors Castle was now like a turtle, stuck in its own shell without a way to advance forward or retreat.
"Your two elder brothers are really great human beings." Lei Zhen sarcastically praised Leon and Carter.
For their own greed for power, they allowed their own home to be shunned and ruined the trading market of Yors Castle.
Yors Castle was a trading place known for its export and import. Yet with the current condition, all imports and export are stopped, causing its economy to decrease drastically.
"Just why would they even try to start a coup when your father is healthy? I just can't understand this concept." He turned around and asked Kate.
They were now camping near a forest while waiting for the intel report from the surrendered imperial guards.
"I don't know either, Lei Zhen. I was supposed to head out to search for the Ferold's Ring in hopes of resolving the conflict at Lux Forest. But then I was ambushed by a black mage and became a wanted figure from them." Kate was equally clueless about the situation.
Even an idiot would know starting a coup when their father is well alive and healthy is a foolish decision. Yet the two princes still went ahead and blockaded Yors Castle.
Lei Zhen closed his eyes and rubbed his chin, trying to replace himself in the position of one of the princes to think from their point of view.
'If I'm the prince, why can't I wait a bit longer? Why would I choose to make a move now?' He wondered silently.
Sometime later, an imperial guard returned with intel regarding the Yors Castle deployment from the two princes.
As for Lei Zhen, he still couldn't think of a probable cause for the current situation.
"Reporting to Princess Kate, Prince Leon had full control of the West side border while Prince Carter had his private army situated at the East side border." The imperial guard reported and extended his hand to give out a document.
The document was compiled of a mapping and territorial arrangement by the two princes.
Although it was a bit crude, the effort deserves some praise for them to compile a map in such a short amount of time.
"Alright, you can leave now and patrol the surroundings. I expect to see perfection." Kate waved her hand and dismissed the guard. Though she made sure to hint to them that this alone was not enough to pardon their wrongdoing.
"Understood, Princess Kate." The imperial guard dared not complain and hurriedly made his exit, leaving Lei Zhen and Chris alone with Kate.
Kate laid the map out for the two of them to see and asked, "What do you think about this situation?"
She pointed at the heavily guarded East and West side border. It wasn't an exaggeration to say that not a single mosquito could get past their blockade.
As Chris and Kate tried to analyze the map, Lei Zhen had another idea in his mind.
Something that usually happened in movies.
"Princess Kate, do you have a secret passage made somehow that leads to the Royal Palace?" Lei Zhen asked her.
That's right. Like most movies, royals always have a secret passage built for their escape in case of some emergency.
Hence, Lei Zhen thought maybe Magnolia had improvised this into Yors Castle as well.
With Lei Zhen's question, Kate suddenly recalled there was indeed a secret passage that they had created as a drastic measure against the threatening Lux Forest.
"Right here, it is a passage that we dug. But it's surrounded by Prince Carter's men." Kate pointed at an area and said.
"Prince Carter's men huh?" Lei Zhen muttered. At least it wasn't so bad because if it was Prince Leon's men, then this plan can be discarded.
Prince Carter was an honorable figure in the eyes of the public yet he actually does such an action which is a stark contrast to his personality.
"Are you on good terms with Prince Carter?" He asked. Right now, he needs information more than anything.
The first basic information needed was the relationship between each royal family member and their connection to other nobles.
Only by knowing such basics could he actually proceed ahead.
Knowledge is a powerful offensive attack, more so than actual combat power.
pαndα`noνɐ1--сoМ After all, knowledge allows one to know their opponent's weaknesses and where to strike them precisely.
Kate nodded and shook her head at the same time. "We're not exactly on good terms but we aren't enemies either."
"So neutral?"
"Yes, we're kind of neutral."
"Good, send an imperial guard as a messenger to the camp of Prince Carter and let him know what Prince Leon tried to attempt." Lei Zhen commanded, seemingly becoming the chancellor and military strategist all of a sudden.
"Okay, what else?" Kate nodded her head, obediently listening to Lei Zhen's command. She had full trust in him and after all the events happening so far, only Lei Zhen was able to remain calm and collected to analyze the situation.
"Next, I want you to secretly order some imperial guards to infiltrate Prince Leon's camp. Since Prince Leon is still ignorant about the imperial guards he had sent to target you, had instead swore allegiance to you, they could be the spies and give fake reports to him." Lei Zhen said.
Making full use of their troops and connection, Lei Zhen was going to trample both Prince Leon and Prince Carter simultaneously.
"Alright, I'll make sure to order them now." Kate was about to head off to command some guards but was halted by Lei Zhen.
"I'm not done yet, Princess Kate."
Lei Zhen flashed his signature smirk as he still had a lot more plans up his sleeve.
