Chapter 6: Yggdrasil ⅠⅤ
Chapter 6: Yggdrasil ⅠⅤ
~First Person~
I was traveling through the forest of Alfheim when I encountered Warrior Takemikazuchi and Nishikienrai, surrounded by a group of five human and demi-human players.
During this time in Yggdrasil, P'king(Player Killing) heteromorphic players were typical among human and demi-human players because killing them didn't have any penalty.
While on the hand, If a heteromorphic player killed a human player, their location was visible to all the players in the vicinity.
'I finally found you guys.'
I was traveling through Alfheim for a quest. The reward for completing it was a hidden class. But, more about it a bit later.
I cast a 3rd tier spell, *Complete Invisibility,* and approached the players.
Before approaching them, I used *Life Essence* and *Mana Essence* to check the level of the players. All the players were above level 90.
Other than destructive spells, I learned some misc ones, just in case.
But, the number of destructive spells in my repertoire far outweighed the number of misc ones like Complete Invisibility, False Data: Life, etc.
'Fighting them with magic would be futile. But, let's surprise them.'
After reaching one of the players, I spoke in a playful tone.
"Hello there."
I deactivated the *Complete Invisibility* and cast a 4th tier spell.
Momonga: 'Boost Maximize Extend Magic *True Dark*.'
[MP: 45 -> 37]
The spell caused an immense black column to descend from the sky, completely enveloping the player.
But, because of the level difference, the player didn't die.
I jumped back and switched to my Doppelganger variant. By now, all the player present had noticed my presence.
???: "Today must be our lucky day."
One of the players spoke in a haughty tone while looking at the transforming figure of Momonga.
???: "He looks weak; let me handle him."
The player with a giant axe on his shoulder spoke while moving toward Momonga.
Momonga: 'Today is my lucky day.'
The player with the axe lunged at the now-transformed Momonga with great speed. But, Momonga effortlessly avoided the attack.
The reason was one of the skills of the, "Combat Oracle" class, known as the "Combat Precognition."
It allowed the player to predict the incoming attack, and the best part was; it had a cooldown of 1 second. But, there were limitations like, it could only work on a single target.
As I dodged the attack, I activated another skill of the same class, "Opening Detection."
It allowed the player to detect an opening in the opponent. Leveraging the information from the skill, I used "Iron Fist" to hit the other player sideways in the tummy, making them stumble backward.
Momonga: 'That should have chipped away a large portion of his HP.'
Not wanting to give him a moment of respite, I used "Shadow Step" and killed the player.
[You have killed a player of the Human race. You received 0 EXP.]
[The effect of 'Advancement Amulet' has been applied. 0 EXP -> 0 EXP.]
[Nearby players will receive your location broadcast for half an hour.]
[You received the "Axe of Courage."]
I looked at the remaining players.
???: "You disingenuous dense motherf*cker!"
One of the remaining players shouted.
Momonga: 'Time to end this farce.'
I activated one of my trump cards, "Selfless Conquest." This skill was the final skill of the "Combat Oracle" class.
Once this skill is activated, the player's health will gradually decrease by 1 point per second. However, as the skill remains active for longer, its effects become increasingly potent.
If the skill remains active for 10 seconds, all the player's attributes will experience a boost, increasing at a rate of 2 points per second. And after 10 seconds, the rate at which HP drops will be increased by one. It follows the same principle as HP, but instead of decreasing, the states increase.
Another limitation is that; after ending the skill, the player gets inflicted with the weakness effect. It makes the player unable to use any skill for one hour and caps the states at 50 points each. Also, during the skill activation, the player cannot regen their HP by any method, and natural regeneration is deactivated.
Momonga: 'With my HP, I can only activate this skill for less than 36 seconds. Better make them count.'
As the skill gets activated, Momonga's hollow eyes glow crimson.
..
[HP: 90 -> 89]
[MP: 13 -> 14]
[Physical Attack: 104 -> 105]
[Physical Defense: 80 -> 81]
[Agility: 79 -> 80]
[Magic Attack: 10 -> 11]
[Magic Defense: 69 -> 70]
[Resist: 100 -> 101]
[Special: 100 -> 101]
...
..
I quickly activated "Shadow Step" and lunged at one of the players. Upon reaching them, I used "Quake punch," dealing damage to all the nearby players.
Fortunately, Takemikazuchi and Nishikienrai were out of their range. Without waiting any longer, I used "Fists of Fury" to quickly deal damage to the players.
One of the players, a mage, fired a 7th-tier spell *Napalm* at me. I used "Combat Precognition" on the mage and dodged it. A split second later, a column of flames engulfed the spot where I had been standing.
Not only the mage but all the other players were attacking me relentlessly. I kept using all the skills I had to kill them, and after 26 seconds, I emerged victorious with only 5 HP remaining. At the 26-second mark, my Physical Attack state was at a staggering 154 points.
[You have been inflicted with the Weakness effect for one hour.]
~Takemikazuchi's POV~
Takemikazuchi: 'WHAT THE HELLLL? WHO IS THIS GUY?'
I watched as the player in front of me kept attacking and dodging- skills and spells fired at him.
Takemikazuchi: 'Wait! Is he going to attack us as well?'
I watched him for a few seconds; he effortlessly dispatched all the human and demi-human players.
Takemikazuchi: "Is he cheating?"
After defeating all the players, the crimson glow from his eyes disappeared, and then he approached us. He took some health potions from his inventory and offered them to us.
???: "Care for some potions?"
I accepted the potion and said thanks.
Takemikazuchi: "Thank you, fellow player. My name is Takemikazuchi, and he is my friend Nishikienrai."
Nishikienrai also accepted the potion.
Momonga: "Ahh, where are my manners? My name is Momonga."
After that, we made some small talk before I pointed out the elephant in the room.
Takemikazuchi: "Momonga-san, what was that? How did you kill all four players in under a minute? Were you cheating in any capacity?"
Momonga-san spoke playfully.
Momonga: "Momonga is fine. As for your second question, I killed them by using one of my trump cards that progressively gives me strength at the cost of my HP. As for your last question, no, I wasn't cheating."
Takemikazuchi: "Is that so? Sorry for doubting you, Momonga."
Momonga: "It's fine."
At this point in time, a player wearing shining armor came running from the forest.
???: "WHERE ARE THEY!"
The player began to look around before his sight fell on Momonga. But, before he could attack, I tried to dissolve the situation.
Takemikazuchi: "Wait, Touch! He is the one who helped us. Don't attack him."
The player was Touch Me, the leader of the clan of Nine's Own Goal. He wore his iconic Platinum armor.
He approached us and spoke in a grateful tone.
~Momonga's POV~
Momonga: "Please, pay it no mind."
We kept conversing for a few minutes before Touch spoke seriously.
Touch expressed concern about the increasing aggressiveness of heteromorphs in player-killing.
He then faced me and explained that we all belonged to a clan called Nine's Own Goal, where members assist each other with tasks and jointly defend against player-killing risks. He extended a formal invitation for me to join the clan.
Momonga: "Is it alright for me to join it?"
Touch: "Of course."
Momonga: "Then, I'll be under your care."
After that, we waited an hour for the Weakness effect to end. During this time, we added each other as friends. According to Touch, excluding me, there were currently only time members in the clan. The other two members were Wish III and Flatfoot.
Momonga: 'It's good that I joined the clan in its infancy.'
While they were conversing with each other, the Yggdrasil's forums were in an uproar. The cause behind the buzz was the live streaming of Momonga's battle with the other players, which attracted the attention of numerous players.
...
VRAdventurer= Is that guy cheating?
StreamFanatic= I think he's cheating. Ain't no way he defeated Ivan and his clan single-handedly.
GamerGirl69= Yeah, right. I have already reported him for cheating.
PixelProwler= Me too. I hate cheaters.
...
As it turns out, one of the players that Momonga killed was a famous VR live streamer known as 'Maxer.' He had a big following on the VRStreams.
At the same time, on a floating island, all five players of the Krasnyy Medvedi clan were gathered around a round table, discussing their fight with Momonga.
???: "I AM GOING OUT TO FIND HIM!"
A human player who had fair skin, a bald head, and small red eyes spoke angrily. His name was Vladik, the mage of the clan of Krasnyy Medvedi, meaning Red Bears in Russian.
???: "Easy, Vlad. I am also angry, but anger wouldn't get us anywhere."
An elven male with shoulder-length blonde hair, blue eyes, and a buff physique spoke calmly. His name was Maxim, the berserker of the clan.
Vladik: "HOW SHOULD I REMAIN CALM? THAT FUCKER GOT MY WAND! I SPENT MONTHS ON THAT, AND NOW HE HAS IT!"
Vladik shouted while exiting the room.
???: "Wistle~ Someone's in a bad mood today."
A man with red hair and cat-like ear, yellow eyes with slit-like pupils spoke in a teasing voice. He had dark skin with a short white beard. His name was Mikhail, and he was the blacksmith of the clan.
He wasn't there when Momonga kicked their asses.
???: "And you are not helping, Mikey. Stop teasing and report him for cheating."
A female elf with delicate features, platinum white hair, and green eyes spoke with venom in her tone. Her name was Yelena, a Paladin, and vice-leader of the clan.
Mikhail: "Already did it, sis."
???: "Any information about our fellow players?"
A man with black hair, red wolven ears atop his head, and red eyes with slit-like pupils spoke sternly. His name was Ivan, and he was the leader of the clan. He was a weapon master.
Yelena: "They are also looking for the player 'Momonga.'"
Ivan: "I have already told my chat to report him for cheating, and if they find him, they should kill him immediately. I will tell him the consequences of messing with our clan."
The clan, Red Bears, and another clan of Demi-humans were killing many heteromorphic players to fulfill a condition for a class that was effective against them.
Yelena: "We should go and grind back the lost levels."
Just as she spoke, she got a notification regarding the report she had submitted for cheating.
Yelena: 'That was fast. Generally, those shitty devs don't respond for hours.'
[Player Yelena, we have received your report and investigated it thoroughly. And we found no evidence of cheating. Please, refrain from falsely accusing a player.]
Yelena: "What the fuck!"
She got up from the chair she was sitting on.
Mikhail: "What happened, sis."
Yelena: "I just received the response from the investigation team, and according to them, he didn't cheat."
Ivan: "How is that possible?"
At the same time, all the people in the room received the same notification. Yelena looked toward Ivan.
Yelena: "Now what?"
~Scene Change~
I have been traveling with the members of Nine's Own Goal for a few hours now. They came to Alfheim for a unique ore needed by Takemikazuchi.
Takemikazuchi had already mined a lot of the ore, and now they were preparing to head back to Niflheim.
Touch: "Are you sure; you'll be fine out there? I can come with you if you want."
Momona: "It's fine; I need to do the quest alone. I'll catch up with you guys at the clan base."
Takemikazuchi: "Right, peace then."
Touch: "Goodbye."
Nishikienrai: "Take care."
We parted ways at the foot of a large rocky mountain. As they walked away from it, I started ascending it.
My magic-oriented character build was at level 45. For the job classes, I had Wizard(Level 15), High Wizard (Level 10), and Arch Mage(Level 5). After fully maximizing the Imp racial class, I haven't yet selected the next upgrade.
The quest I was doing was for a hidden racial class and a job class. To complete this quest, I had to clear nine dungeons across Yggdrasil.
Then collect the loot dropped from the boss of these dungeons
and use them to open the final dungeon at the heart of Nifelheim.
I received this quest by reading a book I found in an abandoned shack, and this time I didn't get any help from the system.
But after checking with the system about the reward for this quest, I immediately started working on it.
'If I complete; the quest, I will not only get a powerful racial class but also a powerful job class on the same level as the World Disaster.'
As I was ascending the mountain, I heard a shocked voice from my behind.
???: "Hey! Isn't that Momonga?"
To Be Continued.

A/N: I don't know how the live streaming of Yggdrasil works. So if you have any suggestions, leave them in the comments. Also, I am looking for a good and free AI image generator for the art of this novel. So, if you know any, leave it in the comments. Peace
