“Why? Surprised?” Xie Lianzhen scooted closer to her. “It’s okay, I’m all yours. You can stare at me as much as you want....aiya!”

Lu Mingshu shoved him away roughly. “No direct contact with the opposite sex until marriage.” She said monotonously.

But who knows, Xie Lianzhen’s eyes lit up immediately and looked at her cheerfully. “So that means that we are considered married? You see, we have hugged and carried each other before.”

“Get lost!”

~Who in the world would has such thick-skin?~

“Stop being so heartless....”

After joking around for some time, Lu Mingshu finally got to drink some of the soup.

This soup’s flavor surprised her. “What is this?”

“Wild chicken soup.” Xie Lianzhen smiled proudly. “Tastes good, right?”

“Where did you get it from?”

“Little boo caught it.” He said and looked over at little boo. “Your bronze man is extremely helpful. He does whatever I say and can fetch water, catch a chicken and turn into a pot for cooking! It can even wash itself! This is my first time seeing a pot which can hunt its own ingredients and wash itself after....”

Lu Mingshu side-eyed him. ~Little boo is the grandmaster’s masterpiece, yet in his eyes, it’s just a pot that can wash itself?~

“Ahem” Xie Lianzhen coughed and smiled. “It tastes good because of my skills.”

Lu Mingshu glanced at him. “You’re experienced in cooking?”

“Nope.” Xie Lianzhen answered. “When would I have cooked before? But I did help senior brother Wei light the fire when he brought back wild chicken to barbeque.” He smiled proudly and patted his own shoulder. “I am good, right? I did so well despite it’s my first time cooking. I can make you more if you want. I can fight, cook, and I am extremely good-looking. The perfect husband....”

Xie Lianzhen continued to sell himself, but Lu Mingshu was no longer listening to him. She occupied her mind with other thoughts.

~This soup tastes just like what Yan Wugui made.....~

After finishing the soup, Lu Mingshu felt better and rested for a short moment. She then called little boo. “Little boo, go and clean up. Let’s continue to explore.”

“Ka, okay, master.” little boo eyes blinked. It then waddled out of the hole slowly with the leftover soup inside it.

~Well, it actually does feels good to have a bowl which can catch its own ingredients and clean itself...~

Not after long, little boo had returned, and it was back in the form of a bronze man.

“Master, I have cleaned up.”

“Let’s go.” Lu Mingshu slowly helped herself up.

“Hold on!” Xie Lianzhen scrambled up. “I want to go too.”

“You should rest more, since you are still seriously injured.” Lu Mingshu looked over at him.

“Oh no, how can I let you do all the work while I rest? That’s unfair to you.” Xie Lianzhen insisted. ~How rarely do I get a chance to spend time with her alone? And it’s finally my turn, not that idiot.~

“Whatever, please don’t faint or die along the way.” Lu Mingshu rolled her eyes and shrugged.

“Nah, I’m very strong!”

~No matter how painful it is, I will persevere. I must show that I’m capable, or she will think that only the idiot is useful and I’m a good for nothing!~

But Lu Mingshu didn’t even bother to glance at him as she continued walking to the place she went the day before.

It was a silent journey, but it was better than being alone, and Lu Mingshu felt more at ease with a companion.

~Actually, he is pretty useful too. Other than being too annoying, Xie Lianzhen is a great travelling buddy. Like what he said, he can fight, cook, act as a pleasant looking decoration or a loyal pet dog who will follow me everywhere~

Lu Mingshu shook her head and sighed. ~Did I get brainwashed by him? Whatever, as long as he is quiet, it’s all good.~

She went back to the crack she discovered previously and continued from where she left off.

Xie Lianzhen went to take a look as well. “It’s a spell formation?” He said after some time.

“How did you know?” Lu Mingshu looked at him in shock.

“What is the seventh truth platform good at?” Xie Lianzhen chuckled. “The Big Dipper Seven Star Lords is also a type of spell formation. If you want to find a reliable magician in ancient China, the best place to come to was us.”

~True.~

“Can you tell what formation this is?”

Xie Lianzhen observed it for a moment and turned back to her. “This spell formation is extremely complicated. There are many connections and it might be made to complement other spell formations.

Furthermore, the formations seems concentrated with energy, as if it’s the centre of a giant formation.”

“Centre.”

“Uh.” He pointed to a part. “Look, there’s obviously mystic force that is congealed here. What it does is to provide energy for the formation....Ah, I know where we are now.”

Lu Mingshu stared at him and furrowed her brows.

“Where you two had gone previously was where the sea of cloud debate was held. It was obviously a place that stood alone. There were woods, a big lake and other resources. It should be a place to breed demonic beasts or grow medicine and herbs. The sea of cloud’s debate was just in passing.”

Lu Mingshu pondered for a moment and realised it was true.

There were quite a number of demonic beasts in the forest they went to, and the lake was filled with water beasts, showing that they produced many water beasts every year. As for the lake of heart’s island, it had a special geographical position, which was a good place to grow medicines and herbs. And there were Yuan Crystals in the foggy wood.

“A stand alone space to rear beasts and grow resources...?” ~There are many similar places in other worlds!~ “But a stand-alone space requires a motor to drive it....”

“That’s why this exists.” Xie Lianzhen raised his eyebrows.

“What you mean is that this spell formation is the sea of the cloud’s main energy source?”

Xie Lianzhen nodded. “Should be. It is huge and complicated. It contains strong mystic force but it’s not dangerous. So it should be used to keep the sea of clouds running.”

“So that means...” Lu Mingshu blinked her eyes.

Xie Lianzhen looked around. “The cultivators in this world are much stronger than the ones in ancient china. We don’t have such powerful things. It will be good if we can get inside and cultivate there.”

That was what Lu Mingshu thought off as well, but there was something else on her mind.

“Will he suddenly come to kill us?”

“Not likely.” Xie Lianzhen shook his head firmly.

“Why?”

“The spell is a confined one.” He pointed up at it. “If there is any external force interfering, it would destroy the equilibrium of this spell formation.”

“If our existence would affect the equilibrium of this spell formation, the emperor would surely send someone to come for us, am I right?” Lu Mingshu pondered.

“Such a spell formation will naturally have the ability to self repair. We have been here for quite a while. It might have affected it at first but it will get better soon. There should be two reasons why the emperor isn’t coming for us. Firstly, we are seriously injured. He would have expected for us to die soon, and secondly, we aren’t that strong. So the equilibrium will not be largely affected.”

“So, we should try to be as quiet as possible so we don’t beat the grass to scare the snake.”

“No, ” Xie Lianzhen smiled mysteriously. “The best method is to make ourselves a part of the spell formation.”
