The Fantastic Super Vision

Chapter 44 Secretary of the Municipal Council

Chapter 44 Secretary of the Municipal Council

The rapping and banging against the door of their car were incessant. Bei Yunxue was struck dumb by the whole shebang. If she had known earlier that this would happen, she would not have brought Wang Feng along.

Still, it was too late for them to leave now. Bei Yunxue schooled her features into a smile, and then she lowered her window.

Bursts of blinding camera flashes besieged them. Bei Yunxue had barely gotten a single word out before the reporters noticed another presence in the passenger seat.

Those with sharper eyes recognized Wang Feng almost instantly. “Whomever came up with a lame disguise like that?” They thought.

Outside, a reporter threw out a question. “Mr. Wang Feng, how do you feel about the incident that happened a few days ago?” After that, another burst of camera flash assaulted them.

The rest of the crowd reacted instantly when they heard the reporter’s question. All cameras were now pointed at Wang Feng.

“Mr. Wang, can you please tell us how you came about such terrifying combat skills?”

“You were injured by the robbers this time. Are there any side effects to your injuries?”

“You’ve been labelled as the city’s ‘Superman’. What’s your view on that?”

“Can you please tell us...”

“Mr. Wang...”

All kinds of questions were thrown at him, one after another, like a barrage of words. In merely a couple of breaths’ time, these reporters had asked over ten questions, and they did not show signs of stopping anytime soon.

In that moment, Wang Feng understood the woes experienced by those celebrities: being annoyed to death by reporters everyday.

In the end, Wang Feng was left with no choice but to remove his disguise. People had already recognized him anyway. What was there left to be scared of?

Wang Feng opened the door and stepped out. He was surrounded by reporters almost instantly. Once again, he was bombarded with a series of questions.

“If you keep crowding me like this, I’m afraid I won’t be able to answer any of your questions,” Wang Feng said.

Wang Feng’s voice was very loud, the sound of which had the reporters taking several steps back; none of them tried to jostle their way forward after that.

Anyone could see from Wang Feng’s behavior that he was willing to be interviewed.

The sudden change in the reporters’ attitude made Wang Feng feel very helpless and clueless. Instead of jumping at the chance to bombard him with questions, the reporters were now acting meek and complaisant by pushing the opportunity away to their peers. Feeling helpless, Wang Feng prompted, “If you have any questions, go ahead. Ask.”

Naturally, after Wang Feng had given the reporters an opening, the endless barrage of questions started again. Wang Feng did not even know who to answer first. Heck, these people might as well be digging into his ancestry at this point. He certainly would not be surprised if the next question he received had something to do with the identity of his eight generation ancestor.

Even more ridiculous was the fact that a female reporter with a face full of freckles had asked if he currently had a girlfriend. Was that even considered a normal interview question?

“Alright. Enough. You guys can stop now,” Wang Feng said quickly when he saw that the reporters were about to keep rambling.

“I will generalize all your questions and answer them all at once. After I’ve answered, do not pester me again, or else I will call the police and charge you for harassment,” Wang Feng said confidently.

“By all means, Mr. Wang. Please speak,” said one of the reporters. After that, a microphone was brought before Wang Feng. The whole thing felt like some kind of interview with a celebrity.

“Alright. First of all, my combat skills are nothing to speak of. I merely experienced a sudden burst in strength due to the fact that my life was under threat, that’s all. If any of you were to be placed under a life-threatening situation, you will be able to surpass your limits too,” Wang Feng said, though his answer had startled these reporters.

If they were placed under that kind of situation, they would already consider it a great personal achievement to go through it without wetting their pants let alone fight back.

“Secondly, my arm has received treatment from a master. So it’s already healed now. There are no side-effects.”

“Third, I am not the city’s ‘Superman’ or whatever you people call it. That sounds like some kind of movie character and clearly, that’s not me at all. I’m just a normal citizen. That’s why I must ask you people of the press to stop poking your noses into my business, because I don’t like it.”

When he finished, Wang Feng turned around and got back into the Audi TT, leaving nothing but the view of his back for the reporters.

A lot of people were dreaming for a chance to become famous; and yet this Wang Feng character had just declared, right in the faces of so many members of the media, that he did not want to be bothered.

Seeing that the group of reporters was still in shock, Wang Feng decided it was time for them to leave. “Sister Xue, hurry up and drive,” he said to Bei Yunxue who was also in a daze.

There was not a single change in Wang Feng’s expression when he addressed the press just now. He had spoken calmly and with confidence, as if he owned the entire scene. Wang Feng’s display of charisma had stunned Bei Yunxue so much that she could do nothing else but stared at him stupidly. Now that Wang Feng had ordered her to start driving, she snapped out of her daze.

She started the car, and soon, they were both out of there. The swarm of reporters behind them was fully intent on chasing after their car, though that did not concern Wang Feng even one bit.

The plan was to drop by the store to make sure that everything was in order. Wang Feng had not anticipated something like this. This time around, Wang Feng knew just how troublesome it was to be famous.

The car sped off, carrying Wang Feng and Bei Yunxue away from Bei Enterprise Jewelry Shop.

“They aren’t still chasing us, are they?” Bei Yunxue asked, her tone mildly alarmed. Those reporters were seriously dedicated to their jobs; they could probably give the paparazzi a run for their money.

“No,” Wang Feng said, causing Bei Yunxue to heave a long sigh of relief.

“Where shall we go now?” Wang Feng asked casually.

“Don’t know,” Bei Yunxue said, shaking her head. But after a short while, a thought occurred to her, and she said, “Hey, you did something to help ease my pain last time, right? Well, the thing is, I told Brother Yao about it a few days ago. Afterwards, he mentioned something about his father having some old health problem. So I suggested to him that they should let you have a look at it.”

Bei Yunxue’s face had reddened amidst her speech. Obviously, she was thinking about the rough way in which Wang Feng had ripped apart her pajama top last time.

Still, she could not help but feel a sweet feeling within her heart as she recalled the incident, despite the fact that Wang Feng had seen her body.

“Then let’s go pay them a visit,” Wang Feng said. He did not refuse. To him, facing anyone would be decidedly easier than taking on a bunch of reporters.

Besides, Yao Cheng had left a good impression on Wang Feng; during their first meeting, Yao Cheng had allowed Wang Feng to choose a few gemstone for free. That alone was reason enough for Wang Feng to help him out.

The only problem was that he was just an amateur doctor. Although he was familiar with the human body as well as the positions of various pressure points, that did not change the fact that he had never gone through formal medical training. He was not confident that he would be of much help.

If it were Gui Jianchou, the whole thing would most definitely be a piece of cake. “Looks like I really have to step up on my training,” Wang Feng thought. “And then I’ll learn some medical skills from the old man.”

Yao Cheng’s residence was located in another high-profile villa district in Zhu Hai City. The entire area was populated by government officials. Ordinary people had no access to the place at all.

But since Wang Feng had notified Yao Cheng of their arrival beforehand, Yao Cheng was already waiting for them in front of the villa by the time they arrived.

“Brother Yao!” Bei Yunxue called out as she got out of the car.

“Come. I’ll bring you guys in,” Yao Cheng said and then he exchanged a few words with the security guard. After that, Wang Feng and Bei Yunxue were granted permission to enter.

“Bro, you were a total badass this time. Those robbers were armed to the teeth, and yet you fought back. You’ve got some serious balls, man. Just for that, you’ve earned my respect,” Yao Cheng mumbled beside Wang Feng’s ear as they walked. He even gave Wang Feng a huge thumbs-up.

As a government official, Yao Cheng was of course aware of Wang Feng’s heroic deeds. At first, he thought that the person shown on TV was not Wang Feng at all. Instead, he thought it was just someone who looked like Wang Feng. After all, Hua Xia was so big; finding a doppelganger was normal.

But after he asked around, Yao Cheng learnt that the ‘Superman’ on TV was indeed Wang Feng. Now, he could not help but look upon Wang Feng in a whole new light.

He remembered the first time he met Wang Feng. Back then, Wang Feng seemed to him like a shy and timid young man. What had completely surprised him, though, was the fact that Wang Feng had deeply concealed his true nature.

Wang Feng laughed and threw out a random excuse. “You’re just joking around, Brother Yao. I’m really not that good. I just experienced a burst of strength due to my being in a life and death situation, that’s all. If you ask me to do it now, I definitely can’t.”

“Fine. Keep faking, you brat. You know what? Considering your skills, from now on, I’ll leave matters regarding my personal safety to you,” Yao Cheng said, patting Wang Feng’s shoulder. Beside them, Bei Yunxue watched speechlessly as Yao Cheng draped an arm around Wang Feng’s shoulders as if they had suddenly become best buddies.

Yao Cheng’s home was a three-storey villa. Although it was not as luxurious as the villas in No.1 Zhu Cheng, owning a property like this in a city with living standards as high as Zhu Hai City’s was not something that an average person could do.

In fact, Yao Cheng’s father was the secretary of Zhu Hai City’s municipal council. Wang Feng wondered if Yao Cheng’s father was among the ones there when he and He Tian met with Chief Minister Hua last time. At that thought, a strange look formed on Wang Feng’s face.

The door of the villa opened, after which Wang Feng and Bei Yunxue were granted a view of the villa’s interior. Instead of being filled up with modern furniture, Yao Cheng’s home exuded a traditional vibe. It was like the entire place had been specially renovated to resemble buildings of antiquity.

The place seemed to possess some kind of power: the power to bring peace and tranquility to its occupants. This was indeed a good place for R & R.

“You two make yourselves at home. I’ll go get my dad,” Yao Cheng said before heading upstairs.

Just then, the door to the kitchen opened. A middle-aged woman poked her head out. Seeing Bei Yunxue, a gentle smile formed on the woman’s face as she hurried out of the kitchen.

Notwithstanding her age, which was nearing 50, this woman’s face did not betray any signs of aging. She had clearly taken great care of her appearance, so much so that she looked like a woman in her early 20s.

“Hey Xue Kiddie, it’s been a long time since you come to visit. I bet you’ve forgotten all about your Aunt Gu, haven’t you?” Said the middle-aged woman in a mild accusatory tone.

“How can I possibly forget you, Aunt Gu? I was too busy these days. Otherwise, I would’ve come visit ages ago.” Bei Yunxue looped her arm around the middle-aged woman’s arm and then gave a few tugs. Right now, Bei Yunxue seemed like a playful child.

“Oh, such a sweet talker, this child.” Said the middle-aged woman, a look of pure affection forming face. Then, her eyes drifted to Wang Feng.

“So. This is your boyfriend, I presume?” Gu He said with a suggestive look.

“Stop it...” Bei Yunxue blushed right down to her neck at Aunt Gu’s suggestive remark, though she neither denied nor affirm Aunt Gu’s presumption. Instead, she contented herself with tugging Gu He’s arm back and forth.

Instant understanding dawned upon Gu He when she saw Bei Yunxue acting like a shy little girl. “Ah. I see,” she said with a smile. Then to Wang Feng, she said, “Little boy, as long as you’re here, just treat it as your own home. Help yourself to anything you like to eat.”

“Haha. Thank you for your kindness, auntie,” Wang Feng answered a bit sheepishly.

Just then, footsteps were heard from the staircase. Yao Cheng led a stern-faced middle-aged man downstairs.

A wry smile instantly formed on Wang Feng’s face when he saw the newcomer. Although Wang Feng was not acquainted with the secretary of the municipal council, he had still seen the man during the feast last time.

Wang Feng and the middle-aged man glanced at each other at the same time. Yao Yuan immediately tamped down the feeling of utter shock that arose when he saw Wang Feng. His surprise was kept to himself and did not show on his demeanor.

“Wang Feng, this is my father,” Yao Cheng introduced.

“Nice to meet you, uncle,” Wang Feng greeted politely.

“Nice to meet you too.” Yao Yuan was once again shocked, this time at Wang Feng’s show of courtesy. Although Yao Yuan was considered one of the top-dogs of Zhu Hai City, he knew that he was still nothing compared to Wang Feng.

Gui Jianchou could strip Yao Yuan of his position in mere minutes. As Gui Jianchou’s disciple, Wang Feng’s power would be even more conspicuous from now on. One should not slight Wang Feng just because he was in no position of power at this point in time. It would not take long before Wang Feng would grow to unattainable heights.
